What about how the tuskens are descendants of early humans/humanoids that were brought as slaves to tatooine by the infinite empire when it was greener and they subsequently developed a massive hatred towards technology and outsiders because of how insanely brutal the rakata were and then after the empire fell they became completely isolated for millennia?

The Tuskens are a fascinating people, in many ways, similar to the Mandalorians, which is fitting then that Din is the one to make the first formal contact with them. I hope they can persevere, a group with such a unique culture, and a mentality of endurance. But they'll have to fight hard, and find creative ways to protect their tribes in order to do so. In our own world, most Nomadic cultures are gone or severely reduced. The Hungarians, the Romani, the Mongols, many of the Native American tribes etc.. so the Tuskens will need to make use of every bit of ingenuity their people have.

Well honestly, I'd rather work with the tuskens rather than wipe them out. I won't tolerate another Orto Plutonia incident. For those of you wondering, in Star Wars: the Clone Wars, an episode featured the ice planet of Orto Plutonia. Although it looked uninhabited, the Moon of Pantora claimed it as an outpost, where clone troopers were stationed. Unfortunately the clones got mixed in with a confrontation with CIS droids and the native Talz population. Long story short, Chairman Cho tried to have the Talz eliminated, a small conflict was ensued, and Senator Chuchi made peace with the people of Pantora and the Talz. I highly recommend the episode. It's one of my favorites.

The Tuskens have always been one of my favorite Star Wars races and personally I think that the Tuskens will survive on this world for a long time. They've existed since the time of the Rakatan Empire. There's been a constant cycle for them in that colonists and mining companies come to the planet, work it over and after a few centuries, they leave and eventually they come back. The Tuskens have survived it every time despite the efforts to wipe them out. Even when the Hutts wiped out the massive army of Tuskens assembled by Sharad Hett, they continued on. But yes, the Tuskens don't mind using simple technology as one group wanted moisture vaporators so that they could live further in the desert, away from settlements. They were even willing to use advanced blaster turrets that they forced Jawas to teach them how to use. For the most part, unless the Tuskens rattle the cage of someone important, like the Hutts or Czerka Corp. No one really seems to interested in going out into the vast wastes and trying to wipe them out.

I find it impossible for the tusken raiders to go extinct. There would be atleast a couple million of them on the planet. If a band of 500 mercenaries with gun shops attacked, they'd have good success with the internal tribes. However, considering the tusken raiders have a whole planet, they can easily hide in the mountainous terrain or steal technology from human settlements. Tusken raiders would be pretty good on ground combat. However, to take down a ship, all they could do is bait it down and then throw explosives at it.

I'll answer these one by one: 1. The reason the Empire never pursued this project fully is because of how expensive it was. Simply put, it was more economical to just produce what they had rather than replace them with new fighters that contrasted with their existing doctrine. While TIE Defenders would've certainly have aided the war effort by supplementing existing TIE Squadrons, there simply aren't enough of them to crush the rebels without serious changes to their war production and deployment doctrine. 2. I will answer both the Rebel and Resistance question. Simply put, the TIE-D is very complex machine that requires serious upkeep and resources. They aren't economical like the X-Wings, and their captured Defenders would likely just be experimented and tested on to find weaknesses. 3. The Republic and Separatists wouldn't use the TIE-D because it wasn't made yet. Regardless, the fighter contrasted heavily with their existing doctrines. They're not going to change that just for one fighter. 4. I could actually see the First Order developing TIE-D's rather than their new TIE's, simply because it fit their doctrine and was better than what they already had. Granted, I'm not sure it changes much as the NR aren't idle with their tech development either.

@@Tracer_Krieg I'm just saying that it would be very interesting to hear from Lore Guy on what can, could and would happen in these alternate situations of having those elite tie defenders for all those factions... I already know what would happen anyway, but it would be really great for all of us fans to see as several of his new videos about them. If the empire did mass produce them in quality, rather than building the two deaths stars + increased the empire's navy in quality of numbers + placed more resources into it all while maintaining the empire's stability in the civil sectors, used Thrawn's tactics and were sensible about using them right = then the rebellion wouldn't stand a chance, even if they were just elite forces throughout its territories. The Numbers that the empire could have from the 1st death star's resources alone is anywhere between 3.5 to over 5 million of these elite star fighters from what I've researched all over. If the rebellion used them as a limited squadron in numbers from stealing a few units and producing or maintaining what they already have = it could help turn the tide of the war in their favour with a few major missions, like the destruction of the death stars. If the Republic used them during the clone wars = then their clone star fighter pilots and Jedi would survive much longer in battle against the Separatist droid fighters and against order 66. If the Separatists used them, then they would have more organic pilots to use in the war as elite fighters or convert the fighters into droid versions themselves as elite forces too = that will hammer the republic either way. As for the First + Final orders: they would do major amounts of damage to the Resistance and possibly win the war altogether.

Hopefully, a good number might survive to follow the former than the latter, but I also cannot deny that the latter is likely going to happen anyways. We might have something similar to what happened in the United States: colonists pushing natives away from home. A good number of natives did assimilate to European-American culture & vice-versa (what most likely happened to a colony where everyone just disappeared). Thus, its all dependent on the independent tribes & where on Tatooine this happens and such…

The problem is that it's a desert. So the amount of colonists will never exceed 500 k. Way too little people to fill up the entire planet. There will always be some tusken raiders far away in the north or south.

. . . east, or west. Star Wars, much like the Wizard of Oz, is an allegory of World Wars, @@Dino-mf6lc, thus I wouldn’t be surprised that a number of Tuskens would assimilate to the colonists, such as wearing imported materials for their Traditional clothing, maybe add a Star Wars equivalent to a Bowler or Top Hat over their traditional wraps, maybe make their mouth pieces as pluggable as TIE Pilot Helmets when some of them take up spaceflight, but still follow the tradition of riding banthas when they’re on the ground & such…
