Jayne played at the Arena Stage near Washington DC - I was a kid, 11 years old, I saw her in person. She was magnificent! I will never forget her performance. The musical included lots of dancing, it was hot out, and the sweat was spinning off the dancer's heads as they twirled. She thanked us for being such a "warm audience." She died within a month after. I have always admired her!!!

Well AshleyAye you are marvelous once again! Truly enjoyed revisiting Jayne Mansfield :). She was amazing, I am so sad as to how she died, too young, and I am always afraid that she would forever feel the horror of not having a chance to raise up her children that she so loved, and also I know they must have been bereft of not having her in their lives... It is not the first time a star has been taken in such a bad auto accident alas. A wonderful video! Congratulations on all your new subscribers :)...

Hey Ashley, I just started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago. My mother (who is now deceased) got me hooked on Classic movies. I've created a Playlist of the old Black and White films. The acting is great and movies are relatively clean. I enjoy watching you put on your makeup while you talk about the history of the legendary female actors. You truly are very fair skinned. I'm African American and not fair skinned. But there are fair skinned Blacks. When are you going to do Gloria Graham and Rhonda Fleming, Katherine Hepburn? From Kingsville, Ohio 🎉 😀 ❤ Blessings and Shalom 😊

It was her wig that She had thrown up onto the dash. The bar on the back of trailers had started out being called the Mansfield bar... being attributed the Her accident..(.& WHY, that needed to be implemented on trailers).but soon became know as just a "DOT Safety Bar" They are made to give and bend some but to stop a vehicle from going completely under.

I like the name DOT safety bar much better! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻

Hello, loving your channel as one of the "Original Old Movie Buffs," what a wonderful idea. I think that I may have something "special" for you. I heard you say that you were having difficulty finding out...why there were seven year contracts....here goes. I wasn't even looking, but I happened to be watching a wonderful documentary called " 100 Years of Warner Brothers." According to that source, and I quote, " Jack Warner was a dictator and wanted the actors that he wanted in the certain movies that he wanted." Sounds like he was the boss to me and within his rights, but what do I know? Anyway, Bette Davis had sued the studio for breach of contract and LOST, but another icon had Jack in her sights. Olivia De Havilland was tired of batting her eyes at Errol Flynn all the time. She wanted to do more meaningful work and couldn't so she sued Warner Bros. on the basis that she had signed a seven year contract, but every time she refused a picture and didn't go to work, they added that amount of time onto the seven years. Olivia went to court and got " free from the contract." When Olivia was asked by Merv Griffin in a 1973 interview, along with Bette Davis ( by the way, Bette has been my favorite actress since I was 9 years old ) . I am now 78. So when Merv asked Olivia, "How did you fight?" Bette interrupted and said, "SHE WON the case that I had in England, in AMERICA." "AND, (pointing her finger at Olivia) and SHE is totally responsible for the SEVEN year limitation on every actors contract today! " "Olivia did this in America." Olivia sat smiling. The case ended manditory contract extensions and would lead to an exodus of top stars from the lot. Among these were Lauren Becall and Bogart. So there you have it...mystery solved! Keep up the good work! p.s. We all know that Bette never liked to lose and seldom ever did!

Is that a powder blush that you're using? When I lived in Biloxi in the 80s the real estate agent was showing me some points of interest and we drove by the diner where Jane Mansfield had entertained and he said that she was decapitated in the car accident but I know from what I've read and an undertaker said that he got her ready for burial and she was not decapitated. It seems like she followed in Marilyn Monroe's foot steps and so did Anna Nicole. Jane Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe and Ann Nicole Smith have similarities and I think Anna Nicole considered herself similar to MM. She felt that she was going to die in her 30s like Marilyn. All three ladies had addictions and all three ladies didn't have dads.

Where was Jane’s child from her first marriage, during the time she was pursuing her career in Hollywood?
@markusschunzel9225 Жыл бұрын
This is a quite accurate still superficial presentation. Hers was a non-career with the most awful filmography ever. She was able to keep up appearances. Your program does not let her look like a joke. Before the internet, Jayne was all but forgotten while MM became a huge legend.

Movies that were inspired by Jayne's life and destiny: Kim Novak in VERTIGO Lana Turner in IMITATION OF LIFE Doris Day in THE THRILL OF IT ALL Bette Davis in BABY JANE Kim Novak in THE LEGEND OF Lylah Clare Meryl Streep in DEATH BECOMES HER And THE SHE-DEVIL ....... In my opinion, Jayne's perfect face and body, her anatomy, together with her Pink Palace and Mr. Universe, initiated the Barbie Doll frenzy. Jayne was unfairly blamed for all the virtues and mishaps in society and in her contemporaries at that time until now. As early as 1958, a British magazine, quote: In this pagan worship, like Joan of Arc, she would willingly face a pyre rather than see the light of public attention withdraw. unquote, 1967. Jayne: quote: Because everybody is playing my life like Faust. 1967, to Mamie van Doren: Maybe Mamie, Marilyn was lucky. About her daughter in 1967: I don't want my daughter to follow in my footsteps. 1967: If I need a comeback, I will make a comeback. 1967: Billy Graham: Her death is a direct punishment from God. Jayne in 1956: I have a mission to accomplish. 1962: Jayne, quote: The public seems to be in the mood of woe and destruction.

I don’t understand the need for constant publicity good or bad to get ahead cos I think no one in Hollywood took her seriously to give her good scripts. I think she over did the exposure. She played on the dumb blonde persona which had the opposite effect of what she tried to achieve.
@Simoneslegs7 ай бұрын
I thought she was 37.? Also I heard she was partially scalped. But not decapitated. And yeah she was very smart. Definitely above average intelligence she spoke 5 languages and played multiple instruments supposedly. And her IQ has been debated but somewhere between 149 and 160.
