Better yet: bait them into combat on macragge or fenris. Get the imperium involved since they have the force and ability to not only cripple the red angels path, but infiltrate that far into the imperium. You let them rage across the segmentum blowing up minor forts you set up with vox comms waystations so they hear your chatter and are drawn into combat with the imperium ripping and tearing at eachothers throats. And when guilliman and yvrane come to the conflict and start taking the focus off of the night lords for the moment. THAT is when you make your trap. The sensor will have been hit the tripwire primed and after blood angel v bloodthirster, space wolves v blood thirster, dark angel v bloodthirster, kharn vs marneus and yvrane, angron v guilliman yncarne and visarch, then our appearance will be made manifest. In midnight clad at angrons lowest the skulltaker of entire worlds will be the grisly trophy of a swarm of a hundred or more warp talons acting more like human arrows than men. Night Lords take their fight easy. The World Eaters are too straightforward in their tactics. The Night Lords won’t be taking them head on. Angron will be of little help here. He wasn’t a great tactician before, and he’s been nothing but a berzerker since he became a Daemon Prince And the Death Guard will definitely take the Word Bearers. As Rho said, the Guard will just walk through anything the Bearers throw at them. The DG are all damage sponges the Bearers don’t have the firepower to overwhelm them

@@ramsuryaprasath1381 Ok, lets even toss aside Angron and say Khârn is leading them. This is KHÂRN, you aren't gonna physically beat Khârn, Abbadon couldn't do it even when Khârn was injured. Closing off the force could work, but again it is a case of "do you really want to get close enough to even do that?" It isn't like the WE are the EC, they don't sit on their asses getting off. They are apex killing machines, where everyone you see is constantly fighting. They aren't just melee experts, they are the masters of it. If they sucked at it, they wouldn't be alive. Mix this with how fucked the NLs are from the first battle, and the fact that they are as fractious as the WE? They will lose because you can't really kill them in any meaningful way. They are a tide, you don't beat the tide by cutting at it. You withstand it, which the NLs are know to buckle at. If the WE got IWs we would lose for sure, they are a better counter. The NLs are just more cowardly sadistic versions of the WE.

Though I disagree that the Night Lords could beat the Black Legion, I do think they would create a lot of disruption in the World Eaters lines forcing them further and further away from Angron in much the same way that Russ and his Wolves did. Raw aggression only gets you so far. In war tactics are required to be successful in the long term. Plus the Nails only make it more likely the Night Lords cause massive disruption in their lines. As for the Word Bearers, well Lorgar has made great strides in power but he's still shite in combat and tactics. Against the Death Guard you'll need power and skill, not to mention some semblance of resilience. Don't forget the Death Guard were created to survive, after being plague marines they are significantly better at doing just that. Honestly I think only the Thousand Sons and the Iron Warriors have the right tools to beat the Death Guard amongst the traitor legions in the current era.

I'd have to give my votes here to the Death Guard vs Word Bearers, they have one of the weakest primarchs, even ascended, Lorgar got his ass kicked a lot, Mortarian while not the top of Nurgle's blessed grandchildren, still would be more than a threat to Lorgar as he is, Deathguard are one of the most dangerous traitor Legions, if not The Most dangerous one out there for their numbers. I'd have to give the Night Lords the edge here, because, well it's the World Eaters, they are not known for strategy or tactics in wars....if the Night Lords could tie up the Dark Angels legion, than the blood crazed Bersekers will be a walk in the park, Angron would be the chief threat to them, but he can be dealt with.

Regarding the Night Lords vs. World Eaters: keep in mind that this greatly depends on what you consider ‘winning’. If it is tactical or strategic victory, or taking and holding ground, or even just having less of your forces dies, the Night Lord probably win. However, if it is who is going to best accomplish the goal of serving their master, I think it is hands-down the World Eaters. Khorne doesn’t care whose blood is spilled, just that it is flowing like a river. If the World Eaters smash recklessly into ambush after ambush, it will be an absolute charnel house...and Khorne will be greatly pleased. As long as there is a battle at all, the World Eaters are accomplishing their goals, and thereby ‘winning’. It’s pretty hard to beat someone who is playing by totally different rules!

Death Guard vs Word Bearers. Two bull headed legions who mostly just keep going until they succeed. This one is gonna be dicey. Word Bearers have a bad track record, despite their overall favour of the chaos gods. The Death Guard are resilient but inflexible. This is gonna come down to what powers and bonus they get. If they have something to overcome the resilience, Word Bearers could win, but I think they will probably break on the Death Guard, because they have a pretty terrible track record for.. well, mostly everything really. As for Night Lords vs World Eaters, that would be a blood bath, but I'm giving it to the Night Lords. They both have some asymmetric tactics, but the Night Lords have more. The World Eaters have lower leadership, and are probably immune to fear, but they tend to be predictable. The Night Lords are creative, which I think will carry them through. Hydra takes all.

The Word Bearers with all their possessed & daemons just can’t dish out the kind of hurt to put the Death Guard down permanently. Add to that the fact that Lorgar has always been the weakest of the Primarchs. It’s the cruelest joke the ruinous powers have played - making him think he is some singular figure in their grand designs when really he was just the pebble to start the avalanche. DG win hands down. The Night Lords terror tactics won’t be of much use against the World Eaters. They can dance around them and make harrying strikes, but they’ll eventually have to come to grips with the WE & when they do they’ll drown in blood - even if the NL do have miniatures from this century.

I think the night lords could win fairly easily given the type of victory. If the night lords could lure Angron to a world then quiet literally flee as he is trapped there. That could be considered a victory because he has been neutralized. And given the night lords hit and run tactics they could stay a step or two ahead of the world eaters. It would be a long and grinding campaign to wear down the world eaters but if they have enough prep time, and cultists to sacrifice they can lay enough traps to wipe them out. But it would be a costly endeavor regardless. Speaking of the death guard I think they would win easily. They are more resilient and have artillery. But I do think it’s fair enough to point out they have cultists too, and by books they have some nasty siege equipment and lots of plague witches. I think the word bearers could bring a number of daemons to their aid but nurgle would most likely side with Mortarion. The battle would be long but I firmly believe the Death Guard would come out ahead. And maybe not as diminished after too.

Word Bearers vs. Death Guard is an interesting matchup. As Rho points out, they are two of the most intact of the Traitor Legions. Just recently, we had a video on this channel dedicated to how the Death Guard actively and rather aggressively recruit. Size wise, I'd argue that the Legions are essentially equal. When it comes down to utter resilience, none can argue that the Death Guard reign. However, the Word Bearers are jacks of all trades. Though I don't think the Word Bearers are as incompetent as the memes make them out, I think the Death Guard represent the superior force. I also think Lorgar would have a sore time facing off against Mortarion. IMO, that match up justly goes to the Death Guard. World Eaters vs. Night Lords is a pretty straight forward one, IMO. The Night Lords defeated the Black Legion by killing the leader of their cult of personality. While the Black Legion parade about as though they were some proud force and would break as soon as Abaddon, the World Eaters are already broken. The Night Lords could not break what is already broken. The berserk rage of the World Eaters would not be cowed by terror tactics and would, in all likelihood, fight harder after duplicity. With their ranks already drained in their fight against the BL and their tactics being useless, I see the Night Lords being butchered in most scenarios. And this is all without the intervention of Angron.

Word bearers have a point of having a lot of demon based forces, HOWEVER, their combat experience is negligible, and they have basically no relevant warriors compared with the others. I mean, Corvus alone is tearing them a new one all by himself. In stark contrast, the death guard has been fighting non stop for 10k, and have legendarilly powerful fighters like Typhus amongst their ranks. All that without even accounting for mortarion and all of nurgle's blessings. Death guard wins this one by a landslide imo.

The Deathguard will simply overwhelm the Word Bearers with sheer tankiness like they did against Perturabo and his boys and if he couldn't, Lorgar doesn't have a hope in hell. As for the World Eaters against the Night Lords...that would be too close, ambushing and surprise attacks can go a long way, but if one slip up happens and the 8th is caught in pitched battle it's over the World Eaters cannot be overcome with an equal or greater force and they have Angron so that tips the balance in their favor.

Something that is painful missing. Is context. There are too many variables we don't know. Is there a time limit. Is the fight and location a single battlefield. A planet. An entire campaign? A 10,000 year war? All we know is that we should consider the legions weakened from previous fights. Just location and time frame alone drastically changes many of these fights. World Eaters vs Night Lords is a prime example. If it's a single battlefield. With little prep time. World Eaters win easily. The longer the fight is drawn out the better the odds for the Night Lords. I'm going to give this one to the World Eaters for the following reasons. There forces have already fought in battle against Black Legion which may have the most resources of any legion. (Even if it does not have the most resources it has the largest talent pool to draw from) According to lore. Angron has been rebuilding the World Eaters. For somewhere around 300-1000 years, lately. The night lords have no primarch. Their ability to see into the future is not decisive. They don't know if what they are seeing will happen. They only see possibilities. This can hurt them as much as it can help them. They are not likely to summon in large amounts of demons. Nor do they have the backing of one of the 4 chaos gods. They are not very big as a legion. And they are far from united. With the Word Bearers vs Death Guard. I'll say Word Bearers. For several reasons. Mortarion likely outclasses Lorgar in many areas. But mortal Lorgar was never that interested in being a bad ass. He was trying to win hearts and minds. We don't know where Lorgar stands today. His deamon hood was granted by all 4 chaos gods and his rebirth was heard by psykers. The emperium. It will be interesting to see what GW does with him once he starts becomes active again. Legion size probably goes to World Eaters. They have 2 deamon planets. One is where Lorgar and most of the legion is stationed. The other is a forge world. The Word Bears and Iron Legion have been the primary sources of weapons for most of the rest of the legions. They also have not had a major loss of forces for a very long time. And they have operated as a single functioning legion the whole time. I'll call the Death Guard a united legion. Mortarion is a very capable smith and probably makes most of the weapons he needs. But he is not know as an exporter / seller. In the last 10-15 years. Most writers don't know how to think about Lorgar or the Word Bearers. 30 years they where the scariest of all the chaos legions. If you had a choice between suffering from the night lords and suffering from the word bearers. You would run and lovingly embrace the night lords. In a direct fight. Primarch vs Primarch I would give it to mortarion. But these are 2 large legions. The biggest advantage the word bears have is size of force. Even if their basic legion of space marines was not much bigger then the death guard (it's probably 1 1/2 - 3x the size of death guard) They have 3 other chaos gods they can call on for support. And the gods love their battles against each other. The word bears could sacrifice large numbers of cultists just to summon Hordes of deamons from all 3 of the other chaos gods. The word bears can posses nearly everyone of their space marines. They can reverse the process too. Changing out who is possesed by what type of deamon depending on what is needed at the moment. Mortarion is not going to be a match for all that. It's sad to see how few people now how horrifying the word bears are. It's also possible that Lorgar may emerge as the most powerful of the primarchs. Especially with the way his legion worships him.

To face the world eaters with sheer numbers is exactly what they would most likely beat, a force such as the night lord is a perfect counter imo. I'd say the biggest threat is angron but they already captured him once angron without any primarch, so they could do it again maybe. But the red Boyz are to mindless to beat good tactics + the effeciency behind it.

personally world eaters seem like the best pick for the nightlords. they can easly be outsmarted. going againtst them with large numbers just gives them more fuel for the massacre fire. Angron and Khan are troublesome but they can try to get them to rage quit and kill their own team.

Something I think most haven't taken into account, is the extremely fractured and de-centilized nature of the world eaters. It would not be the first time that world eater warbands either ignored the call of their primarch to seek out their own glories, or turned and killed eachother while in the midst of combat with a credible foe. This alone, I think, would see an easier then expected win for the night lords. As long as they continued to deny the world eaters of the slaughter they so desire, we will see them fragment. Turning into bite sized chunks, that will be more easily dealt with then the black legion was.

hmn but on the hand, Lorgar is a potent psyker and a renown demonologist - going by Grey Knight's logic, that would be the best thing ever to wield against demon and Mortarion is definitely a demon to play a devil advocate (pun very much intend) what if Lorgar wasn't powerful enough to beat Mortarion physically but use his warp knowledge to find Mort true name and create a seal tailor-made for his demon and kept him locked somewhere forever? that's sound like a feasible tactic given that even a mere mortal Grey Knight was able to beat Daemon Primarch that way before, relying on their psychic power and warp knowledge

Alpha Legion should have won. Doesn’t matter how much defenses you have built up because Alpha Legion already has operatives behind your lines and will put your entire defense into chaos with sabotage tactics. Alpha Legion would never charge straight in and fight the Iron Warriors in a battle of attrition. They would dissect them piece by piece until they were in pieces and then launch the killing blow. Disappointing.

You can’t beat stealth, sabotage and general espionage when it comes to war, information is everything and no one can infiltrate like AL can.

I want to support the Night Lords again badly, my heart is with them, but I just don't see them holding together even after their great victory over the BL. I think they will either split apart or be butchered. They are good at what the World Eaters suck at, but I don't see their numbers holding up after the BL to have the oomf needed to wipe out the World Eaters. The WE aren't even that big and I think a fresh Night Lords legion could do it, but not now sadly. As far as the other battle, maybe if the Word Bearers get a huge buff from the other chaos gods they can contend, but even still, I think it will be a long and brutal fight where the Death Guard will eventually win via attrition like they always do. I still think it will take a massive toll on the Death Guard, but I think they win in the end with solid enough numbers to content farely well later on. We shall see who they fight

OK, Hear me out on this one brothers! Expecting the BL/NL/WE conflict of bracket one to face off against the EC/TS match of bracket two: Night Lords, after a tough but successful matchup against the Black Legion have drawn Khorne's attention, bringing the World Eaters. The prophets visions have been seen to be more accurate than the sorcerers of Tzeench, so he would be able to see the skeins of fate more clearly. And who would khornate berzerkers like to murder more than anything else? Sorcerers. Night Lords Keep hitting and pulling the World Eaters right into the Thousand Son battle force and hide till the brawl is over. Then come out and kill the survivors. What better way to counter a Daemon-Primarch than throwing him at another, even if he isn't yours. This feels like the right level of cowardice and treachery for the Midnight Clad to succeed with. nightlords would have abdolute field day with world eaters in large war. They will be hunting unorganised warbands and deniing them close combat. One warband of Night lords would keep several warbands on the hunt, while rest would be hunted like savages they are. Angron would face same tactic that was used by space wolves, he would blindly follow any force to engage. So some night lords would be running and keeping him busy. Killing him would be a problem but pirates and reavers like night lords can steal some virus bombs for sure :-D

I think even a weakened 8th could still beat the World Eaters no problem, All they have to do is divert parts of the army away and pick them off, sure its more of a broody beaky boi play but I think Connrad stand to use a Raven Guard doctrine for this fight, Divide and Conquer is the name of that game As for the WB vs DG, DG have it, pretty much no matter what. They move so slow good luck getting manageable chunks to split off without being able to receive some support, or killing them without getting bogged down, and while I'm sure Daemon weapons and psi abilites will put the hurt on the DG well and good, they just have so many bodies and some will shrug even that off, I think the Iron Warriors are the only legion that could stand up to the march of the death guard, They have the long range firepower to punish their slowmovement not to mention if they dug in, that would make the DG even slower, and even if they made it to their lines, its not out of character for papa Pert to just drop arty in his own lines, Perturabo spends astartes lives like boltrounds

For Nightlords they just have to avoid a battlefield type thing. If they line up like soldiers and charge they will lose. Make it a mix of everything but open field battle and they have a chance. Make them fight in the void on ships if possible.. Set up ships. Hell make a fake landing and get the rage machine idiots to deploy all of their soldiers on one planet and destroy the planet. Do not engage in normal battle though.

Honestly, Nightlords have an easier time here then the Black Legion. As Angron was kept as a slave and couldn’t even conquer his own world and he lost to both Russ and Pertarabo. His legion like his is terrifying.... head on. But the night lords have tactics with zero qualms. They are merciless in ways the world eaters would never see. They’d starve the world eaters of what they want, conflict. They’d murder and convert their cultists to cripple their ability to travel with out the murder and blood to sate them. Turn the terrified masses into little more then suicide bombers or gruesome totems. They use the heads of the fallen world eaters as trophies to incite rage and simply gun them down or have them devastated by psychic attacks. Murder them in groups of four to one before leaving nothing but skin and empty armor. Mortrian wins against his Pedo Brother naughty space priests lose to relentless plague factories.

There's infighting amongst the Chaos Gods' ranks as well, plus all help from Chaos isn't necessarily voluntary, daemons can be forced to serve for a while for example. And all the Chaos Gods are fickle, granted not to the extent of Tzeentch, but any of them can definitely aid any, or both, side in any conflict regardless of who's fighting. So I'm sure the WB would be able to call on some of Nurgle's power as well. The major difference, as I see it, is that the WB are no one's favorite, while the DG definitely ranks amongst the most favored of Nurgle. I feel like any of the powers would be willing to throw the WB something nice they can spare, but Nurgle would be prepared to spend some serious resources on the DG. And that makes a whole lot of difference.

I'd say the death guard would win depending on the blessings of the other 3 chaos gods to the word bearers. Even then, depending on the supply of greater demons, I'd say death guard wins. Night lords vs world eaters is simply a matter of luck for the world eaters. They need a surprise attack otherwise night lords will just strike and retreat. And we know the night lords can drag such a tactic on for years. Face to face though? World eaters, no doubt.
