I also have what I call “daily non-negotiables” which include clearing the kitchen counters, cat box, and tidy up nightly. Also I do a monthly “zone cleaning” - I do one room or area each week, and over the course of the month, the house gets and stays clean. I’m not always perfect, but it’s a good goal!

I "Goal Set" 😄 for the new year.... In 2020 I was able to hit some of my goals. I lost 35 lbs. I kept my wardrobe to 40 clothing pieces. I kept to my low-buy. For 2021.... I am going to get into the best shape of my life! I am doing a no-buy year. I will be taking classes. It is totally about the small habits that we do automatically. These things snowball into big changes (positive or negative) over time!! Once you have a habit established, habit stacking is an amazing tool to build new habits quickly.

This is sooo true! I managed to finally start being healthier, and lose weight, by only doing one thing every day - I walk 1 mile. Rain or shine, no matter how I feel, I walk 1 mile per day. It takes me 15 minutes, super easy and achievable, and it made a MASSIVE difference in my life. My mental and physical health have seen drastic improvements after even a week of doing it daily. I've been doing it for 6 months now and I don't see myself ever stopping. And so many other good habits came out of that one thing.

I love seeing you ladies on Sundays! I wanted to share a positive that happen this Christmas. I started watching Dawn on KZbin a couple of months ago. About a year ago I inherited my mom and dad’s house and ALL of their stuff. Between my stuff and their stuff I was completely overwhelmed every time I was at home and actually hated being inside the house. In the last month I made two trips to Goodwill and three trips to the dump. This Christmas, when I came home from a trip, for the first time ever, I walked into my tidy living room and kitchen. I also had family come and visit recently and for the first time ever, I wasn’t embarrassed or running around like a crazy person trying to pick up. Thank you both for your words of wisdom and de-cluttering.

I do monthly goals... you can do anything for a month, and then it becomes a habit! I’m also quitting the gym, which will require me to be more intentional about my exercise at home. I used to think the gym would make my workouts better, but during quarantine I had to workout at home and now I love it. It’s more convenient, my workouts are quicker, and I’m in better shape than I have been in years. The only down side is that I have had to acquire several sets of weights for the workouts I enjoy- however, its a lot cheaper than the gym membership I’ve kept up for years.

"Easy, super quick, fast, almost guaranteed!" This had me laughing out loud! You guys are the best! Also, I've made a lot healthier of eating habits and have lost 20lbs this year. But, I'm upping the ante with a new year's resolution to not have (dare I say) daily desserts. I'm giving myself the reminder phrase "I'm a healthy person" to keep me focused when cravings come along. So, my resolution is to not have desserts after dinner until I've reached me goal weight (20lbs left). If I'm actually still hungry, I can eat food, but not desserts. Usually, I don't want food. But I have made the unhealthy habit of eating cookies, pie, candy, pastries after dinner EVERY night, stalling my progress. If I commit to this, then I can add those desserts back in *occasionally*, after I've made the habit of eating healthier.

I found your channel yesterday and I'm addicted to your videos. I live in a small, one bedroom apartment with my fiancé. He loves stuff (flashlights, thermoses, pocket knives). He loves to buy in bulk, which we don't have any room to store 20 some rolls of toilet paper and paper towels. He has a difficult time getting rid of anything other than clothes. Last year, I hid one of his "something I can't live without" item that he got as a gift. Not once did he ask for it in a year and it's still hidden. This proved to me that this junk is all mental and with so much stuff, things will be forgotten. I have a feeling that when I tell him what I did, he's going to say, "I've been looking all over for that" (he hasn't).

Love your channel! Also want to add this to what you said. I heard this: To start a new habit you need commitment and consistency. So this done by having "floors" and "ceilings" each day. So I will use the example of exercise. Everyone usually has a ceiling with this, which is the amount you want to do each day. But everyone needs a floor as well. So if you set your floor at one minute then even if you get sick or just have a down day you can still lift your legs or arms up and down for one minute. So that keeps the commitment going and the consistency going and you'll have started a new habit in a successful way. ☺

I feel so incredible at 125 and nobody believes I have five kids. I did various things but the biggest was intermittent fasting for me. Cynthia Thurlow has some pretty amazing stuff on it (Ted talk on intermittent fasting) Currently I am doing a 4-Hour eating window with 20 hours of true fasting which is only water and black coffee or tea with no sweeteners. I had only two items to donate so I held onto them over the holiday. Yesterday, I went my boxes of hardware items and came across a few little things. Proud to say they went into the bag and because I had other errands off the bag went to Good Will, and OUT OF MY HOUSE !. My Christmas gift to myself

Three years ago, I took a course through my husband's work (called LivingLean by SelfHelpWorks) that walked me through many of the mental changes that the Atomic Habits book talks about. Three years ago, I changed the way I thought about food, and some time along the way, I started seeing myself as someone who loves doing healthy stuff. Eating salads. Working out. Running. I never needed to count calories, and rarely kept a food journal or anything like it. I just kept identifying each bad habit to overcome and focused on changing it until it was gone. Quality was far more important to me than quantity, and I found that the most healthful foods for the things that didn't come with labels or packaging. Last fall, I finally got that number on the scale that says my BMI is in the healthy zone. 75 lbs. down over 3 years. And now when I go backpacking, I out hike my bros rather than drag behind. People have finally noticed I've lost weight, and it makes me laugh because it's not really because of anything I've done differently recently, it's just an accumulation of everything I changed about the way I thought four years ago. Before this, I thought I was doomed to be obese the rest of my life, just like so many of my relatives are. I wasn't. I just needed someone to walk along with me and show me the way to change. I've got two kids under 5 too, Diana. And if I can do this--believe me--you can too.

I gave up New Years Resolutions a few years ago...thank you for each video you do that helps us keep a simpler home. Yesterday Christmas was put away and the few “winter decor” was put out so my house feels simple again. (No kids at home, they live in another state) I think my husband is even enjoying these changes!

Older we get the harder it is to lose. I feel ya! I would just eat salad for lunch and step aerobics and voila! Not any more. My doctor said to me to lose 10 lbs a year. I have to cut out processed carbs like cereal, crackers, snack bars, bread, and quick glycemic foods like rice, french fries. I don't want french fries any more. I also find that cardio is a must for me to lose weight. I use KZbin for exercise like Jessica Smith and Jenny Ford and Bob and Brad. No Gym. I walk my dog everyday and that is not enough. I'm going to put a sticky note on my phone and laptop that says "before you open this open the Bible". Yes Diana you can do it!!!! Amen!

I don't believe in coincidences so when I saw the name of the podcast you were talking about I was thinking that looks familiar. I just looked at my email and my church is starting that bible plan for 2021!! That is my "goal" to read my bible more, so I"m hoping this will help. I can't wait to start and now I'm going to look for her podcast!! Thank you ladies for all you do!!

Thank you for everything. Yesterday my niece came over and picked up some stuff I had for her children. I was keeping this stuff until they got older her youngest is going to be four her oldest is 17. It’s really hard to get her to come over because she is so busy. I decided to give them everything. I feel so much better. It took me a while to be ready to give some of the stuff up but I know they will enjoy it as much as I have. That makes me happy. Thank you for all the encouragement. You two are awesome!

Love TLC and Bible Recap. It motivated me to read or listen through the assigned part of the Bible every single day for the first time in my 73 years of life! Ready to start over 2021! It really helped to just listen through some of the harder sections while paring with another activity that didn’t require my thinking.

Instead of choosing a resolution for 2020, I read somewhere you should choose a word, so I did. My word for this year was “voice” because I felt I wasn’t being listened to (even by the inner me). I have found my voice! I’m speaking up a lot more, not being blunt ( well maybe sometimes, lol) or rude, just sharing my opinion and sticking up for me. I decided if I wasn’t listening to myself how could I expect others to? So I’m still a work in progress but getting better!

Instead of a resolution, I am setting a theme: Be the better person. If someone ahead of you is cranky at the cashier, be the person who speaks kindly. If everyone is driving aggressively, be the person who lets the other driver in the lane. If no one is smiling be the one who smiles. If a legit gofundme shows up on Facebook and no one donated, be the one who donates.

My great grandma used to make resolutions that were easy for her to keep. One year she gave up French fries because she didn’t really like them that much anyway, but it was helpful because she quit sort of mindlessly eating them when they were in front of her. I thought it was funny when I was 8 but now I can see the sense in it!

Experienced a win today....... my husband and I were cleaning the house and I proposed cleaning his desk area. He jokingly gave me a hard time because he knows how many videos I watch about decluttering and cleaning. Told him I wanted to make his desk area a pleasant place to work. Well.... he helped and we moved MANY items to places they were meant to be and his desk is orderly... for now. LOL
