Small correction: Gohan didn’t say he's been training in secret-only practicing the Special Beam technique whenever he had the chance. So, it's more like he doesn't believe he has time to genuinely train between his job and being a father, but every now and then practiced the technique out of respect for Piccolo and to make him proud.

My thoughts with Orange Piccolo are similar to my thoughts with Gear 5. It's a perfect good transformation, fitting for the character just simply the build up and the circumstances under which it was achieved could be better. You could argue that the transformation well deserved and you'd be right, but something about Piccolo just wishing for it doesn't sit right with me. It feels like it just goes against the core themes of dragon ball...but again, Kami created the dragon balls so you could say that he used his own power to go reach a further level. I think we can all agree that it could have at least been executed a bit better

Great Saiyaman not being mentioned in the movie makes it painfully obvious this was originally written as a Piccolo movie with Gohan later hamfisted into it. It's genuine sad how little Toriyama cared about Gohan

I love how there’s a movie called Dragon Ball super Super Hero. There’s no “:” in between super, nobody cares to fix it, and there were absolutely no mentions of the great Sayiaman duo, and goku forgetting meditation as the cherry on top. In all of my years as a SONIC and Dragon ball fan, ain’t nothing made me more peeved than that I can’t lie.

A lot of what you said I do agree with, the one I don’t is at ones 14 min mark with orange piccolo. That power up was specifically a potential unlock. Similar to what gohan, krillin, and Dende got in Namek. Shenron, who was Piccolos dragon (Kami so by extension piccolo) just gave him a little more. He didn’t ask for a new form, and it ties him back to Namek and how Namekians use the dragon balls in times of great suffering like in the manga.

I think we could have gotten a way better explanation than that this is something that was way too simple and it comes off like why didn't he just do this before whoud have really come in handy in the buu saga moro arc and in the tournament of power it's just way to simple at least make it a little more complicated like in the Frieza saga nail had to sacrifice himself to give piccolo power to beat Frieza kami sacrificed for the androids they could have had something where piccolo goes inside the dragon balls and trains with dragon gods or something but if he does any wish on them will have a downside this is something that at least has some kind of sacrifice not something he could have just done anytime

@@edogawaconan945 and piccolo just getting power from shenron dose not make any sense because we are told he can't just make people stronger if it is outside his power but it in this movie all anyone ever had to do was just ask Can you make me stronger Shenron no Can you unlock my potential Shenron yes Basically the same thing And considering the tournament of power was a situation so bad that Goku could not stop it if he tried where if they lose they will be gone forever this movie makes it like piccolo relize to much on Goku also the tournament of power would have been perfect for this dragon ball always has plot device's to give characters power ups in a Short time but make it something new and interesting tho I kinda give this movie more slack then super cuz I don't know how long toryama was sick so I can really understand the out of universe reason for this stuff

In Namek it felt deserved because they were being chased down by Dodoria, they risked their lives to get it and were rightfully rewarded. Piccolo's powerup is special treatment. The dominant personality in Piccolo isn't "Kami" but rather the Piccolo that killed Shenron in the past so it'd make more sense for Shenron to not want to grant his wish. There's a reason why when the "Hard work vs Talent" comparisons were a thing, Z Goku and Super Goku were placed differently...

I feel like the broly fight portion was cherry picked? Like yeah theres not as much character stuff going on but I could recap the fight pretty well. Vegeta takes on broly in a 1v1, finds that broly is too much for his base and goes super saiyan, broly begins to adapt so he uses super saiyan god. broly continues to adapt then goku jumps in and gets his ass beat through all his transformations. Then we all know what happens after with freeza killing his father, the fusion and all that. all fights can be summarised as, he punches then he punches, if you cherry pick.

I think you missed the point in what I was saying. The parts you brought up are almost purely action moments, no story elements connected to it, nothing new we haven’t seen before action wise. You also only mentioned what happened in broader terms, picking out certain moments of the fight, compared to how easy it is to go into extreme detail when describing the z fighters vs the saiyans

As someone who doesn't watch a lot of modern anime, it was really jarring to have Broly's amazingly-animated action undercut with so much out of place CGI. The parts where it switches into a completely different, choppy videogame-ass looking thing really took me out of the high bahahah, it's like when in the older movies you could tell some scenes got way more love than others lmao.

A lot of characters act really stupid in this movie you already mentioned Gohan but why does Bulma just wish for plastic surgery of all things ? Like really when the earth is in danger and Goku dose not know what meditation is it's almost like this movie flips Goku and Vegeta around also we are told the gammas are as strong as Goku and Vegeta probably ssj blue level but when the gammas fight piccolo and Gohan it does not even seem like they are that much stronger than them piccolo should have not even been able to survive a punch from one of them and this is the fightbefore he gets his power up They could have at least made the strength seem overwhelming in DBZ you knew and felt when there was a huge gap in power

I actually agree about Piccolo first fight thing. It seems to show that Gamma is more "skilled" than Piccolo rather than being stronger than him. They really don't show any sense of "desperation" in their first encounter.

It felt weird constantly hearing, "the writers". Because Akira Toriyama wrkte the script and all the dialogue of the super hero movie, the superhero movie isn't exactly a contiuation of the anime, it's a continuation of the anime and the manga. It's canon the both, taking that into account you have the events in the manga that happen in between the anime and the super hero movie wich have and impact on the novie but aren't needed information to enjoy and understand the movie.

tbh i prefer Super Hero because we finally get focus on someone who isn't Goku or Vegeta the movie has problem like nostalgia baiting and Gohan's having the same arc as in the Super's anime.(tbh I just think Toriyama used to write the movies around his little canon that consists of the Super movies and his drafts for the Super arcs he made for Toei and Toyotaro that's why in the movies Jiren is suddently someone that was only slightly stronger than Goku and Vegeta, No Ultra Instinct mention in Broly and Super Hero at all since it wasn't his idea and Gohan's arc for the movie that in his canon didn't happen during the T.O.P and some other differences from the anime or manga canon).

Ehh. I do agree having other characther take the spotlight is cool. I love Piccolo and Pan role. But Gohan.... nah... I can't. What you said make sense but that basically means that Toriyama + all the people that work on this movie care so little about this franchise that they doesn't even bother to correct Toriyama about the movie name itself, Pan flying plot that had been done on Super. Gohan "learning" his lesson again. Even if you exclude Super Gohan had and should have learn the lesson since Buu Saga. Like I said Piccolo and Pan is fine but Gohan himself is what make me roll my eyes in this movie. Plus the Final Battle with Cell Max. Toriyama make the Dragon able to unlock potential now. So Gohan could keep slacking off for another 10 years but when RR try to make another Cell again they could always just wish the Dragonballs to unlock Gohan Potential back. It kinda break the movie narrative on its own imo

ngl pretty bad take on the broly movie on the action side of things. I think with the characters involved it showed a realistic portrayal of how Broly acts, the rest of the movie gives him depth and time to progress his story, but this fight just shows how unrelenting and battle driven he is and i think it works perfect in this case. it's not like pissed off Broly is gonna be having full on conversations with Vegeta and Goku like Nappa did lmao

Now, I'd say I agree these movies are not perfect, but let's be honest here, if you keep up with the manga, you can tell they were fleshing it out, also, originally the Broly movie was going to be 3 hours long if everything was included, but with all that said, if you want a better puzzle to build in a way, read the manga, its like Vol 20 and onward i think
