I love how so many videos of SC start with "obligatory pledge of loyalty", as if one has to prove that they are invested into the game to talk about it without the community attacking it. In a way it's good because a lot of people that invested into it are VERY obtuse and it gives us a clear idea of their biases.

You should do a follow up video. A lot has changed in the last 3 years. The Taurus finally came out! And they have over 700 employees now.

Found this video after seeing an article on Reddit about how this game has now raised $500 Million and is still in Alpha 10 years on. I'm surprised at the lack of videos like yours that talk about the history and issues with the lengthy and expensive development of this game, so I'm super happy you made this! You'd think the Internet Historian types would eat something like this up, but oh well. Great video!

Just came across your channel since I am just getting into DCS. I have been part of a Star Citizen clan for some years but never played the game! Just played Battlefield with the 1 or 2 people that were active. I was impressed by the graphics of SC and was considering buying in, but heard about some issues. This video has really cleared things up for me! Thanks for taking the time to make it and you seriously deserve more views for the production quality alone. (Also your no nonsense F18 DCS video is fantastic and a life saver!). Definitely got my sub.

Hype train is crushing any negative (even slightly negative) of SC due to the YT algorithm... Yet the community would gain from hearing the truth "criticizing the game won't cancel it" but it will only make it better.

Dead game walking. Too bad. This seems like an extension of one man's ego, without focus, without discipline. What it all really boils down to is money. It seems that over 40 million dollars have been put into this project with a larger amount apparently still needed. So the real question is. When the product is finally released into the public's reach, what will be the cost to the end-user??? Based on what I see here Star Citizen will never recoup its base cost or it will alienate its player base by an unsustainable user cost. If the company can't say to itself, today, that it has an end-user, playable, product that it could release, in a basic form...this year....if it can't produce a working product this year..well then it is game over. The best thing that they could do is modularize the game. Put out a starter-kit now, then release other modules or expansion packs. It has the material to do that. Star Citizen is a textbook example of a company that is micromanaged by its "leader". Essentially, he is killing the project. If he just gave the key people license to do their jobs the project would take care of itself. It is very apparent that this company is lead through fear. That does not mix well with the creative process. It also seems like this company and its followers have, indeed, created a religious-like environment. Criticism (by "non-believers") is squelched. That is an old formula that just doesn't work. Until Mr. Chris humbles himself and listens to the talent around him...Star Citizen will go another 8 years with nothing to offer. That is a shame. It borders on being fraudulent. Ego is a terrible master! I smell a potential series of law suits! [I'm assuming Star Citizen has not been released... If it has been, it looks interesting!] --- Other than that. This has been a great video! Well, done.

Star citizen is in an alpha stage right now, so you can play it and there is some gameplay available, but it's not perfect. They occasionally have free-play events where you can try the game out free for a week or so, otherwise the alpha starts at about $45

Frodo didnt walk in a straight line to mount doom. in the end it had same effect if he would have. Can we please wait till this game is ready. Its a pitty the game lost someone like you who makes awesome you tube clips. But i personaly think you are to soon with this comment. even in this state the game is is already beter than most space games. will they succeed ? i dont know. is it slowly becoming the game i cant wait for ? yes it is. People dont have to back this game. that so many people do back it should tell you enough. i'am not even sure we are talking about the same game. i see sc footage so i guess we are/

And let me add to this that you're comparison of buying ships sales which do not in any way to lie to people , they know that they are a concept ship. To a con artist who is lying about what they are doing is ridiculous faulty logic. Your entire tone throughout is sarcastic and bitter. This is not a non-partisan video for sure

it's funny how reputation of two companies can change in 3 years.. Where is blizzard now?... last two wow expansions were boring and just moneygrabbing disaster, i paid just for subscription and datadiscs and spent over 200$ and i didn't even enjoyed it much and i simply had to pay to try new stuff... on other hand, i paid 45$ for star citizen 2 years ago and subscribed just twice when certain ships were in rotation.. i enjoyed sc much more than wow which is uninventive since like 2014... in the end, this video would deserve update, because i think it's not very fair to current developement of SC. They keep delivering patches, yes they are slow and sometimes buggy, but i honestly trust RSI more than any big company as EA, ACTIVISON, etc.. because atleast they are trying to make best game ever, not JUST grab money and make shity sequel every year.. but i suppose that depends on what you looking for ingame.. and if you joined 10 or 2 years ago have big impact on how you think about the game i think unfortunately.. (obviously i joined SC in 2019, so i don't have much to complain about.. paid price, played game since, enjoyed it since.. :D ) only thing i would complain is that there is no way to buy ingame stuff for less money, like some small ships, racers, skins etc for like 2-20$ i would buy them, but i will not buy a 200$ ship when i can earn UEC ingame and buy it that way..

You also conveniently left out the fact, that in 2013, Chris Roberts and CIG actually put a vote up on the website for they offered the game as it was, or asked if they should continue. 88% voted to continue. Remember to include that in your next video

Chris Roberts has ballooned too if he gets any fatter he will need a wheelbarrow to carry his gut oh and its 2020 and sqy 42 still isnt finished its official release date was 2014

You say in the beginning of the video, that you hope your conclusions are drawn from facts and logic. But I hear a lot of snark and tone of voice in your narrative. Next time stick to the facts
