Things I have read over the past several decades are saying there’s no direct link between salt intake and high blood pressure. From Scientific American: (JULY 8, 2011 It's Time to End the War on Salt): “Intersalt, a large study published in 1988, compared sodium intake with blood pressure in subjects from 52 international research centers and found no relationship between sodium intake and the prevalence of hypertension. In fact, the population that ate the most salt, about 14 grams a day, had a lower median blood pressure than the population that ate the least, about 7.2 grams a day. “
@909darkhorse2 ай бұрын
I used to have high blood pressure and all doctors talk about is cut back on salt. Now my BP is normal and eat lots of salt and still normal. High carbs and sugars caused mine and a balance between salt and potassium.
@paulc5389Ай бұрын
There isn't. Not eating enough sodium will cause you to have low blood pressure. So if you have high blood pressure for other reasons then not eating enough salt will lower your blood pressure but now not only haven't you fixed the root cause of your high blood pressure but you're now also not eating enough salt and possibly suffering salt deficiency symptoms like cramps and migraines.
@Jimmer-Space8823 күн бұрын
This isn’t the reason behind high sodium intake. Since there are multiple reasons for hypertension, you need to focus in on the one area where there’s a correlation with water retention. There is a direct relationship between high sodium intake and water retention, therefore an indirect relationship with hypertension.
@paulc538923 күн бұрын
@Jimmer-Space88 your body regulates your electrolyte balance. Low salt certainly results in reduced water retention but that's not a good thing it means you're dehydrated. If you give someone deficient in salt more salt their water retention will therefore increase but it's just returning to a normal level. A salt deficiency will also cause you to have low blood pressure. But if you have high blood pressure it will look like reducing salt normalises your blood pressure. But you're doing that by making yourself salt deficient instead of fixing the actual cause of your high blood pressure such as stress or obesity. Salt does not cause hypertension.

It would be funny to watch her trying to have a discussion with Bart Kay. I’m sure Bart would NOT be in is KZbin (abrasive) character, but more as his true science minded self. Highly doubt it’ll happened because she seems very indoctrinated in nutritional ‘science’. Meaning Bart could get her to agree that ALL nutritional science papers are correlative and that correlation doesn’t mean causation, yet she’ll still believe in this ‘science’ and think it applies to most people, even though these poorly controlled correlations mainly show a slightly significant statistical difference, they generally do not show a clinical difference. Sorry for the rant, just bugs me that these ‘highly” educated people cannot wrap their heads around this “correlation doesn’t mean causation“ FACT. If they truly understood this very basic concept, I believe they would be much more open to the carnivore style of diet and see the difference it makes in their individual patients - not poor controlled patient populations found in most nutritional ‘science’ papers.

And he completely disregards the main danger of oxidation which isn't even up for debate. We know seed oils oxidate especially if you cook with them. And even if someone is vegan I'm definitely judging them if they put seed oil on a salad instead of olive oil. The vast majority of people use seed oils to cook with which is a terrible idea. All the influencers saying there's no evidence they're bad for you are just completely ignoring the fact they oxidate. There is even hypothesis that oxidation is a major contributing factor to CVD, hence why smoking causes it. So it's even possible high seed oil consumption is actually increasing risk of CVD completely counter to the advice given by those who still believe LDL levels are causal.

He says he takes a Vitamin D supplement of 2000 IU but you only need 600 and if you live a natural lifestyle and get outside you need none. Too much synthetic Vitamin D is bad news for your arteries as the synthetic Vitamin D is cholecalciferol the same ingredient they use in d-CON rat poison. And we've known for years LDL levels aren't causal to CVD. It's been over 10 years since Keys was debunked by his own data that he intentionally and arguably criminally left out of his study because it disproved his hypothesis. Proving "causation" to any of them to bad health outcomes arguably hasn't been done. FTR, I'd stick with red meat, saturated fat and not worry about LDL provided blood sugar levels and triglycerides are healthy. Blood sugar and triglycerides are more important figures to look at. Make sure THEY are "in line." If they are not, then yeah, you probably have high LDL at the "scene of the crime."
