I run 10lb braid with a 8lb floro leader using a uni uni knot. When my line breaks it’s always at my union knot on the floro. Drives me crazy. I think the knot stresses the floro no matter how much care I take when tying my knot.

For sure. I’m doing a future video on the differences between fluoro and mono and knot strength is one of them. Fluoro is stiffer and thus is damaged more by tight bends such as you find in knots.

Double Uni does not compare well to the FG knot for braid to Fluorocarbon. Many tests out there.

This makes sense as the fluoro would have zero knots bends and this would not weaken nearly as much. Thanks for the comment!

@@bike4him589 I’ve shied away from it due to its complexity. Standing up in a boat in high winds trying to tie the FG seems miserable. I guess I just gotta learn it and practice it.

@@andrewszot3094 the FG knot is what you tie in your garage. The Double Uni is what you tie on the boat.😁
