It was for publicity. Not for charity. Fights make a lot of money. None of us know how much of the money actually make it to the charity. But one thing is for sure. Since Floyd Mayweather started doing these kind of exhibitions he found a way to create drama and publicity to make a great amount of money by doing fights. Physical violence makes money and it's not just for the charity. Jake Paul and Logan figured that out a long time ago.

Disclaimer: this isn’t about idubbbz or Dr.Mike There are many people who are famous or very wealthy and a few Million dollars to charity doesn’t mean anything to them so they do it for tax write offs and for the simple publicity of the situation to make them seem as if they are a good person. Now I simply couldn’t care less why they donate to charity because a donation is a donation and the money given to the organizations will be used for good however they could be a horrible person who just decided to write a check and sometimes it’s released that people donate to charities yet the charities either never receive the donation (they didn’t send it) or the place they donated to wasn’t real and the money goes back to them. This was simply to inform anyone who may not know this and believe all that donate are “good” people and once again had nothing to do with Dr. Mike or Idubbbz

And while for people like him who probably make a lot of money, it might not be such a big deal, it's still a nice thing to do. There are so many people who don't donate to charities at all, and I am talking about a small percentage of one's income - not millions of dollars which most people don't have. In the end, none of us knows him personally but I do believe that a person, who donates to charity regularly, has a good social circle, treats pets well and dedicates his career to not only treat ill and injured patients but also educate the people and debunk medical misinformation, can probably be called 'a good person'.

So I'm a little late to this whole thing but as I watched your previous boxing videos and this one, I was PUMPED to see your excitement for boxing and the fact that you actually got to box in a real match. That must've been surreal. I'm a senior nursing student and can understand the "not wanting to cause/inflict pain on others" mindset so I can't imagine what you had to go through mentally to separate being a doctor and fighting in this match! This is why I am not a fight of touching gloves at all. Boxing, MMA, nothing. just come out of the ring ready for action. Seen too many fights where people get tagged after a glove touch that changed the whole game, just seems silly. Even if its a legal tactic you're kinda forced to touch gloves if they offer cause its "bad sportsmanship" not to. Hey sometimes fighters like to be outside the clinch not in it, in mma some people got bad takedown defense. Telling that fighter to touch gloves and expose themselves willingly to defend a sudden off the glove takedown or hook is just Asasine.

"glove touch insta gib is to be expected" No. While I agree it isn't as big a deal as people are making it. And Mike didn't do it to get a cheap shot on purpose. Let's not pretend that this is something that is normal and clean. Legal =/= Clean. I've been fighting in amateur MMA for 9 years. Most fighters will tell you to be ready for it just in case and to have your gloves up for when that bell rings. NO fighter will tell you that it's a clean, respected highly regarded tactic. Again, Legal =/= Clean.

People need to understand that in a fight, whether a friendly fight, a real fight, or even a street fight, unintentional hits happen. They are literally moving, punching, and dodging 60+kmph hits, there is no way for them to control the exact places that these hits will land. That's why the ref and warning calls are there for a reason. And another thing, the sympathetic nervous reflex is there to protect the wellbeing of a person. It is a survival reflex of the body when in a stressful situation, such as a boxing match. Landing some cheap shots and punching while hugging is difficult to control especially if you're a first time boxer. That's why the phrase "control your nerves" exist

There are so many aspects to go into fighting beyond the physical demands, for example like Dr Mike was saying the changing of the timetable for the the rounds and the amount of rounds was a big deal because it changes the strategy. Longer fight means you've got to take into account you're stamina your opponent's stamina and control your attacks so you don't end up winded and weakened thus an easy target for your opponent. If you're an intelligent fighter you spend time researching your opponent to look for weaknesses that you can capitalize on and try to discover your weaknesses that your opponent can capitalize on, even how you sit down and where you look between rounds can effect how a fight goes.

As someone who has done martial arts for his entire life. That’s not a cheap shot dude, everyone does that. The glove touch is only for an instance. After that, all is fair. The moment the bell rings, your guard should never come down no matter what! For those who wanted to know: Wrestling from 5 - high school level. Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu from 17 to 22 now.

I understand the playful “dr. Mike is the villain.” People are trying to have fun, trying to add drama to the fight, just like Mike and iDubbbz did with the smack talk. But some people took this match way too seriously and actually decided that Mike is a bad person, which sucks. They were trying to have fun, trying to gather money for charity. They are friends, there is no real bad blood between them. Yet people hiding behind their keyboards feel the need to make them enemies.
