It’s not looks alone that make you an “ugly duckling” or a pretty duckling. It’s confidence. Confidence is so beautiful, it can go to peoples heads, no pun intended, and make them arrogant which is incredibly ugly! I'm glad you feel confident about your looks Cathy. One advice I can give about hair, when something goes wrong, just think. Hair grows. Give it time and it will fix itself. Not worth being depressed about it. Plus there's always wigs. As always, love your background sailor barrage!

My hair looks almost exactly like the explosion you mentioned. Many people seem to think it's damaged, but it isn't. I take very good care of my hair and this is the way it always has been. I wonder what the art project is Cathy Cat talked about. Seeing someone so pretty with my kind of hair could maybe give me a little confidence boost, as I'm often insecure about my hair.

I used to dye my hair before I came to Japan, reddish dark brown, but I let it grow out because it is so hard to maintain. I also cut my hair short before I came here, from around my collar bone to my chin, to fight the heat. In winter I looked like a mess because I didn't have a hairdresser. Finding one was so refreshing! But they only cut and do treatments some time (Forte Hair has a honey pack. If your hairdresser has that too, I highly recommend it!) I also have natural curls, so for the rainy season I can recommend the Essential Speedy Care Mist (kao). You put it on before you dry or straighten your hair and it not only helps to prevent damage, but also reduces the effect of humid air xD I look half as messy with that one xD

I'm really happy to hear you love your hair now! I've been through a similar journey, and now I'm finally growing it longer. It's super fine and thin, and breaks so easily. But I've finally learned how to take good care of it so I won't have to keep cutting it short because of damage. It's armpit length still, but I hope I can reach waist one day! What's funny is my natural hair color is very similar to what you have now and I love it too! You look gorgeous :D

It's funny because I have the exact same problem. People always say my hair looks better short but I like it better when it's long. Plus it's curly like yours so I have a lot of bad hair days myself. I do also agree on the bangs, I can't imagine not having them.

To my eyes I like your natural hair colour. But whatever makes you feel the most comfortable in your own skin is what is important at the end of the day and your current hair colour looks great. My mother is a hairdresser so I pay attention to hair on guys and girls.

I think this hair really suits you, both physically and your personality (from what I can tell from your videos ^^). Dark hair made you look more mature, so even though they must've been quite a few years ago, just looking at the side-by-side comparison I would've said you were the same age on both. :P The biggest hair drama I've had is when I was about 13-14. My Mum was in Germany at the time, working, and I asked her over the phone if I could dye my hair black using those semi-permanent, "will wash off after 24 washes" hair dyes. Except it's done something weird and ended up being permanent. Suffice to say, Mum wasn't very happy, but at least she had a go at Dad for not minding me properly, and not at me. Oops! ^^" But a good hairdresser is a treasure to hold onto forever - having found mine, who is just pure talent, I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. I'm glad you found yours.

You're gorgeous with all your various hair colors, but you do look much more confident and happy with your current hair color. I went through a phase of having a very bright burgundy asymmetrical bob. Now I have long hair and bangs in a subtler shade of burgundy. I naturally have black hair, but it's too severe for me.

Oh.. very interesting story ;)When I was 15 I dyed my hair in green, than red, then blue... and than I tried all colors of the rainbow... but now I'm 23 and I have my natural hair color, and after all this experience I will never dye it again.. I think that natural color is the best color. And it's so good when girls understand that natural beauty is the best thing.

I have dark brown hair naturally so I have to bleach it to dye it bright colours. My hair's quite oily so it can take it, but bleach is so bad for your hair and makes it dry and brittle. I always let my roots grow out and only bleach it about twice a year.

In February , (I have thin, dark brown hair) , I wanted to dye my hair blue and I went to my best friends aunt who works in a salon. Of course I knew bleach and damage would be involved , but I thought we'd gradually make it lighter every few months. That didn't happen. She bleached it 3 times in 1 day and I was horrified. My hair looks healthy and feels nice, but I hate wearing is down since my left side is now shorter than my right from breakage. Plus it gets frizzy easily (which it already did beforehand) and it falls out a lot (even though that's also the case because of my stomach illness)

I've always had a fringe, but when I was about 11 I grew it out, which resulted in a curly weird fringe, because I didn't use a hairdryer or straightner. So it looked horrible xD Then I always wore my hair in a ponytail, had a middlepart, no fringe nothing. Boring. and frizzy (my hair isn't straight, but not curly either) about 4 years later I decided to get a fringe again, and that gave me a confident boost as well. Let my hair down, used nice headbands (this was the time I watched anime and got to know Lolita fashion, and your videos!). Then later, I started blowdrying my hair, cutting it in more interesting haircuts, and then after highschool I started to actually give my hair some attention, dyed a piece of my hair bright pink, cut it shorter and I braided it like Hello! Project idols do. Now, studying, I know even more fun hairstyles, and I'm growing it out again :) Never changed my haircolour, because I love my brown hair, but I still have my pink piece of hair hidden in there.

My hair is changing naturally. When I was a child it was white blonde and straight. Now it's curly and brown (and throughout the years until now I've had everything in between). And my aunt went from white blonde to black hair and my hair is still getting darker each year, so I expect having black hair in a couple of years or so.

I'm probably the guy I know who had the most different hairstyles. Everything from blonde, blonde with black tips, straight black, black with a hint of blue, dark purple and a rather "loud" pink. Most times it have been cut in a sort of faux hawk but I've had a buzz cut once or twice. I think when I was the most happiest was probably with the dark purple and the black with a blue tint, but few people hire you when you have alternative hairstyles like that and regarding the black, I wanted to have my normal brown for a while anyhow since it had practically been in perpetual dye the last five-ten years xD

My hair story? Well I used to dye it red and eventually it became Auburn. I got so tired of it. I dyed it back to black/brownish and left it at that. Since then it's been nice but I want to dye it black before I leave it alone again. I'm also growing out my bangs since I never had them completely grown out before. XP I think it'll suit me better tho so I'm quite excited. If I end up not liking it then there is no biggie. I'll just cut it again lol

Ich fühle etwas mit dir. Ich habe mein Leben lang schon sehr glattes und feines mittelblondes Haar. Ich blondiere es schon seit Jahren zu einem schönen hellen goldblond da es so einfach besser mit meiner super weißen Haut und meinem Charakter passt. Jedesmal wenn ich bei einem Friseur war kam furchtbares Zeug raus. Ich bekam einen Bob geschnitten obwohl ich mehrmals gesagt habe das ich keinen Bob haben will, ich bekam Strähnen die aussahen wie die Streifen eines Stinktiers und Null natürlich, man hat mir Haare untendrunter schwarz gefärbt und das schlimmste war als man mir einen Stufenschnitr verpasst hat. Das sieht bei meinen Haaren einfach nicht gut aus, ich habe auch Geheimratsecken und wenn man mir zu wenig Ponyhaare lässt oder an den Seiten die beiden Strähnen wegschneidet sieht das aus als hätte ich mehr oder weniger eine Halbglatze. Viel zu viel Mist als das ich so schnell wieder zu einem Friseur gehen würde, warte gerade das ein paar Bekannte von mir weiter sind in ihrer Friseurausbildung und hoffe die wissen besser was sie da machen. Deine Haarfarbe gefällt mir super, in meiner Familir gibt es auch viele Rotschöpfe und deshalb kommt bei mir auch immer kurz rot durch beim blondieren, finde das irgendwie witzig und eben auch hübsch.

You have grear hair.... and it's interested seeing what is a year-old video and I wonder how you would make this today, after having your hair done by the NHK hair stylist! As for my hair... I have long hair much like what you reference in your school days. My hair is naturally curly and will never lie flat when it's short. If you've ever read Harry Potter (NOT the movies) and how his hair is always scruffy.... that's what my hair is like when short... and why I like it long. Nauturally, I have dark brown hair, but now I'm over 40, it's started to turn grey, especially around the ears. So now I die it about once or twice a year. Over the last 18 months, I've gone to a more mid brown, which seems to suit me quite nicely. The highlights turn an almost brassy golden colour in the sun! As for disasters... I've only had the one.. A few years ago, I decided I would go really crazy and get electric blue hair, so I went to the shop and bought the dye, and went down to get my Mum to do it for me. Unfortunately, I'd never changed the colour, so I didn't know that you have to beach the hair first, and then colour it..... and the stupic packaging for the blue hair dye I'd bought, had the instructions *inside* the plastic packaging with the dye and gloves, etc.... so I couldn't access the instructions to learn that I needed extra stuff to get the right look! Well, because I was going away the next day, I decided to do it anyway, and that with my natural colour, instead of having bright blue hair, I expected to end up with dark blue hair. No, no no..... that wasn't what I ended nup with AT ALL! Instead of a dashing royal blue I'd envisioned, what I got was a horrible almost black/blue colour, which might have worked...... except that the grey bits in my hair looked dreadful. Instead of looking young and vibrant, I looked like a I'd aged 20 years with horrible steel blue bits around my ears. One my way home, I bought another (brown) dye, and hoped that it didn't go green or something by dyeing it too quickly after.... and to be honest,a green disaster would have looked better than the blue!!
