Hi Scotty. About Hyundai, I gotta tell You my experiance. Long time ago I bought 5 years old Elantra 2002, and had it for two yerars. Zerro problems, just oil changes. Than I bought a newer one, 2 jears old and had it for 8 years, put 90.00 miles on it. Everything i've done was timing belt change (thanks for your video ), one brake pads change and one spark plug changes. And of course regular oil changes. Than in 2016 I've purchased a new Hyundai i20, just fill it up with gasoline and drive. My wife bought a new Hyundai i20 in 2010, had it for six years and absolutly nothing went wrong, nut even a light bulb. Now she is driving Hyundai i10 for 2 years, nothing wrong either. Same expirience got my father, who is also driving Hyundais for 10 years now. Yeah, they are a litle bit chip made, but about a Toyota Yaris first models, they where horific too. So, if You ask me, Hyundai is an excellent car maker.

As a previous Kia optima owner (2008) , my experience with Kia and Hyundai was pretty good. I got the optima back in 08 as the original owner (This is the time frame when Kia and Hyundai's were built to be cheap) and while it was cheap , It was a reliable car (I got rid of it in 2014 with about 284k and replaced it with with one of my current dailys , a 2015 Lexus es). Modern Kia's and Hyundai's have improved quality wise (I sat in the newer optima and sorento and had to keep remind myself that this was Korean and not German). Hey Scotty, what do you think of b series Mazda trucks, do you think the motors and transmissions are sound?
@SiliconClassics6 жыл бұрын
Scotty I own a Saab 9000 and a set of wrenches, I keep it running with parts purchased online and and salvage yards. There are helpful forums and lots of publicly available information about Saabs, anyone who wants to can do their own work and get 200,000+ miles out of them, so don't hate!
@saabtech35106 жыл бұрын
Yep. With the help of misinformation like Scotty spreads, Saab prices have plummeted. Right now with Saab's you can get more good car for your $, than with perhaps any other car. I would scoop up dozens of them right now if I had the $ and room. They aren't that hard to work on, parts are readily available and not expensive, and there's lots of info out there to repair them. In fact the dealer repair Info (WIS) is free on the net. Scotty is just entertainment, and focuses his material on getting lots of views.
@eugenealymov27236 жыл бұрын
Yep, similar story with my E46 BMW. Plenty of info online on doing various kinds of work on it. Not particularly difficult to work on. But man, does it ever drive so much better than a Corolla or a Camry Scotty's advice is good for people with zero mechanical aptitude, and people that just want an A to B car.

Starts, runs, drives, looks, perfectly fine. Maintenance dude...ya gotta do it. The Toys are doing 200-300k with almost no maintenance from most people though. Drive it til you break something. There are a lot of people who can make any car a piece of crap in no time.

Scotty like you, i grew up with my parents only having toyota cars. I now own a mazda 3 2015. I have over 75k miles with only oil changes and i drained and refilled the transmission once. My friends has mazda 6 and cx-5 and maxda 3s as well with more mileage than i do some over 100k miles MAZDA in JAPAN have taken back all the mechanical components and designs away from FORD. They are very reliable now. The transmission is made by AISIN same as toyotas and mazda is sticking with the manual and 6-speed automatic

4:35 Can swap the factory CPU/ECU for a programmable aftermarket ECU but that might cost a bit and involve a bit of rewiring and replacement/addition of various sensors. But many aftermarket ECU suppliers have a database of tuning profiles for many different engines and car models so it's often as simple as downloading the correct file and loading it onto the ECU. Might be worth looking into but I wouldn't hold my breath for something to work straight away for such an old Jeep...

I have a hybrid 2013 Yaris, 1.5L + electric, it's small and not so good for long trips but it's perfect for commuting in our small Italian cities. I put 115000 km (about 70k miles) in 5 years and it runs like new. Only complaint is the seat are not very comfy for me and also the bumpers are flimsy and made of plastic clips that break like nothing. Apart from that the engine is really the main good thing about this car and I regularly get from 50 to 65 MPG depending on the condition of the roads.

Toyota can't build a car that handles like the iA, so they made a deal to get it from Mazda. Mazda cars handle much better than Toyota's. I like Toyota's, they are great cars, but for the driving pleasure, i'll take a Mazda anyday of the week. Mazda's are very reliable, take it from someone that had four and my last one near 200k and running strong. Don't live in the past Scotty.

In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency assumes the typical car is driven 15,000 miles per year. According to the New York Times, in the 1960s and 1970s, the typical car reached its end of life around 100,000 miles, but due to manufacturing improvements such as tighter tolerances and better anti-corrosion coatings, in the 2000s the typical car lasts closer to 200,000 miles.[4]

My mom used to own a 2008 Mazda 3 I sport Sedan in black with the 4 speed auto and she put about 120,000 miles. Something went bad on it with the tires or alignment and never was the same after that. We ended up getting a 2007 Kia Sportage EX V6 in black and had the luxury package but didn’t have heated seats. Bought that used on 80,000miles with drivetime in 08/13. Put about 70,000 miles and went through a couple of batteries and engine replacements and other things that went out on it and we got rid of it at 151,000 miles and replaced it with a 2017 Ford Focus SEL Sedan in Oxford white and it’s fully loaded with out the cold weather package. It was made 08/17 so no recall on the vehicle at all so far. And I own a 2010 Camry LE 2.5L 6A. Has 176,000 miles and only maintenance for every 5,000 miles. And it’s in super white color. The Camry was bought used in October of 2011 and been in my family for 7 years and had 35,000 miles then. The focus we bought new with 14 miles on the odometer at the ford dealership and got a great deal and paid 17k for it and was priced nearly at 23,000$.

True. I have two 4.3 engines, both mated to the 4L60E. One has 376K miles and the other has 284K miles, engines and transmissions all original. They still run like new and are still very reliable and strong to this day. And yes to the other comment. You take 5.7 L (350 c.i.) divided by 8 cylinders comes to .713 c.i. per cylinder and multiply by 6 cylinders comes to 4.3 L (rounded up).

Whoever was asking about a ECM for a 94 Wrangler...if it's a GM 2.5 Iron Duke under the hood....a ECM from a A-body,S-10,etc. will suffice. If it's a Mitsubishi 4pot under the hood and/or Chrysler Engine Management...ECM from a Dakota 4 banger,etc. will slip right in from that period of time. Jeeps from that era were a "parts-pin" vehicle beyond the body-shell...just a matter of matching up the correct parts....most available as used, re-manufactured,or new.

Mazda does not sell the Mazda2 in the US, so they partnered with Toyota. Toyota sells the Mazda2 as the Yaris, originally called the Scion iA. After discontinuing Scion, it was renamed Yaris iA. Toyota has dropped iA for 2019 and simply calls it the Yaris
