We always knew how much paper in general took it’s not hidden it’s really not enough people cared, that was something I was taught in elementary school while reading scholastic, we lose millions of trees at an insane rate, the US is not the only place we cut for wood (the US actively drained most of the mahogany from the Philippines there’s currently none or very hard to find) not for just toilet paper, but all paper, the “save the turtle” straws, and dozens of building material we consume daily, companies have successfully made trade deals and contracts based on to own capita of land where they can constantly produce and use resource at the same time, this is why hemp was first illegalized as it was a constant and safe method of paper production and multiple other material that in early America would’ve put the paper mills and other producers owned by the government out of business, you’ll never see a public owned paper mill, just like you’ll never see a public owned water mill or major resource company, just different factions of areas partially owned and funded by the government, I do like when South Park touches a real life subject but it’s sad a lot of people find out by a cartoon

Every now and then South Park gives straight-up useful and true information. It's one of those things that some countries, including the USA, still haven't got right and seem stubborn as hell about re-thinking their ways. I am American and grew up with the toilet paper thing, but since I moved overseas have seen several alternative ways of cleaning up after your business. Now I've lived in Thailand for 19 years and in that time almost never used TP. Why would you when there is a basic thing we call the Butt Gun attached to most toilets. Not only does it clean your sphincter much better than paper, it helps you poop more thoroughly once you get your technique down. Sure some people, especially women, do a quick dry off with tissue paper, but the primary cleaning is with sprayed or splashed water. Get with the wisdom America! - install a butt gun or bidet or go high-tech with a Japan-style unit and you will always be glad. Smearing your ass with paper is disgusting and wastes a huge number of trees. Just think how many people could have avoided the whole TP hoarding frenzy during covid lockdowns.

The TP run was one of the main reasons I installed a bidet in my house. So glad I did, it has been life changing. I used to have issues with hemorrhoids and haven’t had to deal with that since then. Also much less worry about swamp ass in the summer, greatly reduced TP usage, and always feeling extra clean after doing your business. Now I feel like an animal anytime I’m forced to go anywhere but home. Every house should consider switching to a bidet. It literally changed my life for the better.

You don’t need a house. I got a BioBidet when I was living in an apartment, and brought it with me (after reinstalling the old toilet seat/lid back on the apartment). It’s just 2 bolts for the seat, and one extra hose to the water source. A hell of a lot cheaper than a full on Japanese toilet, with all of the same bells and whistles. Heated seat, water, and air dryer. And yeah, the reaction Randy had, that was my exact same reaction the first time I tried it as well. Bidets are life changing.

Love the JFK scene. I (American) moved to Thailand twelve years ago and learned how to use the "bum gun", basically a kitchen sink sprayer in the bathroom you use to spray your starfish with. Very clean, very efficient, and you use just a bit of toilet paper afterward to check that you're not leaving an autograph on it. After a few years I went back to the USA for a visit and realized that everyone was walking around with dirty holes. Eye opener for sure.

💡 South Park should get onto why North American forests are being felled to supply DRAX, a UK power plant to burn as "renewable fuel". Totally wrong. Google it, it's a joke. DRAX was built next to 2 massive coal mines, but hey, transporting coal a couple of miles isn't "green" but burning wood from 6,000 miles away is 🤔

How about these reasons: 1: They are very thin and shred easily. 2: I'm not touching a spider, cockroach, dog poop, or cat vomit with my bare hands. 3: I use some pieces for small cleaning. 4: It's also a good substitute for blowing a runny nose or stopping blood until bandaids are applied. 5: If the roll gets wet or dirty, I'm not using it. 6: If my kitten shreds it up, it's not salvageable.

Funny thing is I actually have one of the American-made versions of the Japanese toilets (Actually ours is a french-canadian version). And I actually think they are very effective. Especially when you consider that they are a cost saver. I still keep toilet paper on standby because you never know if there's a malfunction with it. I see the point Southpark was trying to make about it that Randy should not have bragged about it at all. Yet at the same time, these things are handy to have around. Especially when Covid first became a big issue 3 years ago, and there was hardly any toilet paper in the United States at all. Technology can be a good thing to have as long as it works. But no one should be afraid to try something new.

Allow me to retort: most toilet paper in Canada is made by Scott, and their mills have an exclusive to buy the type of trees that are useless for anything but toilet paper and "chicken of the woods" mushrooms. They're deciduous and grow in really wet areas.

Lies. There is no such thing as a tree that is only good for "toilet paper". Just listen to yourself, that's utter nonsense. Firstly trees make oxygen. Secondly ANY tree can be turned into MANY things, lumber, paper, toilet paper, parchment paper, wax paper, tissue paper, cardboard, particle board, pressboard, and on and on and on.
