I've been working out since before I was pregnant... Then when I got pregnant I needed a guide for a way to do it safely and smart!
I've been using Expecting and Empowered for OVER FOUR YEARS!
This is what I love about them:
- They have PELVIC FLOOR exercises (who knew this was a thing?! NOT ME)
- STRENGTH training that specific to the week you're in (pregnant or postpartum for what is safe!)
During Pregnancy The body releases relaxin and progesterone hormones which causes the ligaments to relax so you need to be careful when working out
- CORE: I'm not talking crunches I'm talking about keeping your core strength up so that you can support that growing belly!
But working out pregnant with my 3rd has been DIFFICULT to say the least. I started making sure I got my workouts in when I FIRST found out I was pregnant before the inevitable 1st trimester nausea.
Then it hit and I tried to keep up Expecting and Empowered's pelvic floor and core AT LEAST.
THEN when the 2nd trimester got here I became sick with COVID when I was 16 weeks pregnant... neat I know, we traveled to Arizona and then I got sick with a gnarly cough and I'm slowly recovering at 22 weeks. So needless to say I have not worked out as much in my 3rd pregnancy. But now that I'm feeling better I'm determined to get back to it BECAUSE I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS and how much of a difference it makes for me!
I wanted to share this video because this is the reality but I am glad to have the Expecting and Empowered resource for pregnancy and postpartum.
It has truly helped me to prepare for labor and repair from labor!
