To me Kratos was manipulated by 3 enteties: Ares, Athena and Gaia. They all tried to control Kratos in order to destroy olympus, because of his innate powers and potential (rage and power absorption on each kill) but they couldn't. The first was Ares that gave a weapon capable of killing anything that buffs Kratos already great physical atributes. The second was Gaia, disguised as athena's oracle, with the "ghost of sparta curse" that made Kratos inmortal and Athena that indirectely provided the power of hope. This 3 in failing to control Kratos made him an absurd power house.

@@abdbay make a video about the power of absorption that Kratos has, as shown in: the red orbs mechanic, in the chains of olympus game when kratos draws his powers into a specific tree, then regain them by killing People in elysium and also when kratos kills thanathos he gets surrounded by a "Black mist" and zeus says that he became death. (This mist could represent the sadness that Kratos was feelling, but also the "death energy" absorbed from thanatos). Love your work!

Wasn't Athena's Oracle one of the Furies?
@lauwphoda Жыл бұрын
@@insertedgynamehere___969 I dont belive that. Gaia's voice actress and the oracle's were the same( you can look that up). Besides, when kratos die in gow 2, Gaia meet kratos in a parallel world or inside his mind, but why would they meet out of nothing? They didn't. Gaia had "prepared the solo" years before. Another fact is that in ghost of sparta, Thera says that Gaia foretold that Kratos would help the titans against olympus, would that be because of the curse of inmortality, Gaia herself put on Kratos? In the great war, Gaia even says "We have been expecting you ghost of sparta".

I can't even believe it! That's what I most love In this game. Only one word, one little sentence between everything else is enough to change your view over not just one game, but the whole series. When I met the series I had psp and played only Chains of olimpus and ghost of sparta. The thing was that I wanted more of the series and replayed the same two games. And they never disappointed me. Every time you replay a game from the series you change your whole view over it and catch new little details you didn't saw the last time... Just amazing

I think Kratos was able to kill the Furies because he was a demigod and the Blades of Chaos were powerful enough. Additionally they weren’t necessarily Goddesses, or at least they were on a different level than Goddesses like Athena, Aphrodite or Freya. As for Persephone, it is believed that Helios was also involved in her death and Kratos amplified his powers using the Sun Shield. It’s possible that the Gauntlet of Zeus wasn’t what actually killed Persephone, only weakened her, so she gave up instead. Her ultimate goal was to be free, and first gaze as the world reverts into Chaos, a sign of the destruction of Olympus. I think Kratos didn’t ask for it again because he sort of stole it in the first place in order to give himself a fighting chance against Charon and save Olympus. Sure it would have been a major help, but from a story perspective, regardless of the order of release of the games, Kratos likely didn’t believe that the Gods would give the weapon to him.

I have few questions , what was the point of Pandora's box in GOW 3? In God Of War 1 , Kratos needed/used it to defeat Ares but after it was opened then it should have served it's purpose but we see it again in GOW 3. Why was Zeus protecting Pandora's box with the flames of olympus in GOW3 if the powers inside it was already released and the box was already empty? It's like eating a candy in a box then protecting the same empty box with proximity mines. Also why did Zeus help Kratos in God Of War 1 if he knew that Pandora's box contains the Evils of the Great War? It's like Zeus wanted Kratos to open Pandora's box and kill Ares then punish him later for that. Also what did Kratos mean he said that he released the powers from Pandora's Box after he killed Ares? when Athena clearly said that the power of hope was inside him all along but he couldn't activate it. The lore is completely messed up.
@wappykid7318 Жыл бұрын
My memory may be jumbled but it was likely Athena that sent kratos to the box wanting to get the power of hope released so that she could retrieve it and probably convinced the other gods that kratos would need it to kill ares and which he clearly did, but after opening the box the gods got corrupted especially Zeus who got fear and which made him remember the child killing the father prophecy and the marked warrior prophecy which made him get want to get rid of kratos (fearing for his life). Kratos was always a god he just didn't know it till the later so it made sense for him to be able to kill weaker gods with his godly weapons

@@wappykid7318 That still doesn't explain why there are two Pandora boxes. The Pandora's Box in GOW3 was useless. Zeus already knows that Kratos opened Pandora's box and released it's power. Why did he take the same empty box and put it on Olympus?

I have one question with this theory, if Athena's ultimate endgame was to get the power of hope for herself, then why even put the power of hope in the box? she summoned it to put it in the box in the first place, would it not make more sense to just take it right then and there? I think Athena's purpose in gow 3 is that she assumed that the power of hope went into the gods and the power of fear went into kratos, i think she tried to manipulate kratos and help him destroy the gods so she can take the poh from them and take it for herself thus leaving her as the most powerful god of Olympus.
@LJGrindewald Жыл бұрын
There's another theory going round that that isn't really Athena but something else from the higher plane pretending to be as it's someone Kratos knew. What or who that being is I don't know but a name was mentioned in one of captain cuba's videos.
@flippednormals297 Жыл бұрын
it's a silly theory trying to patch up plot hole that the devs created when making the games, the devs didn't cared too much about 'lore consistency' like you know what, in the making of gow2 cory barlog wanted to make Athena tell Kratos who was his father and apparently in gow1 treasure videos it was already revealed to him by his mother that zeus was his father (at that time gow1 treasure videos were canon), Cory outright said "I don't care" when gow1 was in the making pandora's box to kill a god was the plot they created, and later they retconned it simply nothing else. (Also they didn't plan next games ahead if you know) It's not the youtuber's fault that his theory is silly, they devs have made this so bad you can't really explain this nonsense in anyway. It's better to leave it that, the devs know this they have fucked up they won't be able to explain this either. like you have pointed out a contradiction, and well it was hers in the first place, she made the power, it was already in her control. 2nd even if someone says "at that time she put it, later she wanted her power back" Literally anytime, she could have gotten into pandora's temple and got her power back (she's not a mortal, she would just teleport to where the box was and get her power back) it wouldn't even take a sec.
@user-oh4bw6pq3f Жыл бұрын
Okay, so if we bring it back to 1, Athena put hope because she feared about the evil after the titan war. Pandora wasn't key to the box she was the key to the flame. As why Athena wanted hope she was corrupted as well as all the other gods when Kratos opened the box the first time under the assumption he only took the evil to kill Ares. Not even Athena knew until she looked Kratos eyes and saw the glimmer. So in god of war 3 the box was to extract the good but was already in Kratos which is why it was empty. All of this is stated in the games at one point or another. @blackice7050 Zeus wasn't infected until Kratos opened the box to kill Ares. He activated the powers of hope when he chose to save mankind. He gave the power of hope to mankind. Which is why Athena said they would not know what to do with it. I hope this helps.
@Mercury714 Жыл бұрын
@@user-oh4bw6pq3f this explains most of it and for that i thank you, but the reason i asked was bc i knew that athena did it bc she feared the evils and all that, my question was more at the theory itself, bc the guy says that athena was manipulating kratos from the start, so i was just asking why she would put hope in the box to then manipulate kratos to give it back to her, rather then just taking the power of hope for herself, also i dont really want to believe that athena is pure evil from the start bc that makes the emotion impact of kratos killing athena much less impactful.

It sounds fascinating and all, but a shame that they never explore that higher plane. Athena is still out there somewhere. In gow 2018, athena was just some illusion and that's it....
@kingjames6948 Жыл бұрын
They acutally did kinda explore the Higher Existence in Ragnarok because that's what Odin was looking for all this time. And I believe it was really her there in the 2018 GOW just talking to him in his head. Which is why he says "Athena get out of my head" because she was really there.
@TheBf666 Жыл бұрын
@@kingjames6948 Yes, but I would like to see more of it, like who is controlling that realm and the gods that are there. That tear in odin's basement was just there, and then closed by atreus, and that's it. I was thinking of santa monica coming up with a bad ending where atreus actually puts on the mask and bad things, like give players the choice of putting on the mask or not putting on the mask. We can have the current ending as canon, but it would be cool having an alternate bad ending. Just my 2 cents.

Since Athena is presumed to be the one who created the power of hope after the evils of the great war were born, it could be that Athena changed after the war. Literally sacrificing her own hope for the betterment of others, whether that mean the mortals or Zeus and all of Olympus. Athena could have realized after some that it would be better if she had the power back so she can use it herself to change the state of things on Olympus, no longer having any literal hope left in Zeus or his rule. Hence she manipulated Kratos into getting the box and opening it to kill Ares so she could eventually get hope back herself.
