After an extremely tense World Championships '22 performance from Lasha Talakhadze many people in the weightlifting world were asking what has happened to him. Has he peaked, is he injured, will he remain unbeaten? The truth is he had some issues in Bogota, which makes this comeback all the more interesting.

The weight he carries plus the obvious PED use has finally caught up with him I think. You probably right about calling it a day. Sadly he's probably drastically shortened his life expectancy due to it. I would be amazed it he made it past 50.

You say that but realistically he has already sacrificed some longevity as well as quality of life mostly with his PED use but also the stress of his workouts and his weight. If you run a poll of Olympians they will probably disagree with your assessment.

500 is the mythical beast... I suspect he should've gone for it when he had the opportunity at 225 and 267. Both of those lifts he looked like he had some juice left in the tank. I think he would've made it on those performances had he pushed the envelope and not been conservative. Problem is, at those weights and the body weight required, it's a huge gamble to think that you've got "next championship" to accomplish those numbers. He's finally suffered an injury, strong chance he hit his highest already. We will see...... That being said, his records will hold for years.

I hope his health is OK. If he does end up needing to drop or slow down to protect his heart, he's still the best of all time. But damn looking at him tossing those training weights around is just silly. 190 snatch off blocks is just preposterous, when you consider he's below peak form and not even at a point in training where you'd expect him to be at peak.

The ideal catch position in the jerk has the bar in the center of the frontal plane just behind the ear. Reckon If the bar is closer to the destination from the start and already along the axis-the back back instead of the front rack-it should theoretically be possible to jerk more weight.

It doesn't look good for him. Weightlifting is a dynamic movement but not so dynamic where you are out of breath after a couple reps. We're not talking about Pavlo at the Rogue Invitational do 13 reps of a 900lb deadlift in I think 90 seconds. That's something that will wipe you out and would probably require some oxygen. This is quite concerning in my opinion.

Look at his size when he started competing, he was a big ripped guy. Gaining so much weight in those years is working the shit out of his heart. Muscle or fat the heart still has to pump blood through a lot more weight. Hope he can break 500 total but he might have missed his window.

He doesn't really seem to have lost much power, given the fact that he came back to training not long ago. The snatches at 200 look easy as always, like no one else. I think he will be chasing big numbers again. People will always argue that Suleymanoglu was better, just because he was much lighter and his ratio of body mass to lifted weight, probably even if Lasha beats him at sinclair. For me, Lasha is the best ever. I'll repeat my arguments: weightlifting is all about lifting heavy weights. The highest category is unlimited and to have a world record in it means that no one has ever lifted more than you, which isn't true for the lower ones. In this sense, Lasha is the absolute best weightlifter ever.

thats not how it works. Someone who can lift 3.10x of his own bodyweight, a record that was never broken and probably never will be broken no matter what weighclass shows what kind of a beast Naim is. It doesnt matter if its 64kg or 105+, no one was able to beat this.
