Translation: China has been a country for a very long time, so it makes sense that Eugene would have at least some Chinese ancestry. My Response: Korea, especially during wars, have had several relations with China and Japan, some not as friendly. It is logical to assume, that one of Eugene’s relatives was involved in a marital affair between with a Chinese, or a Japanese person. It might have happened happily, it might have not. If you look at Keith and Ned, their percentages of African and Native American blood, likely happened through slave trade, and, especially for those women, it was quite dangerous (many women were raped, or put in an arranged marriage), so although there is a chance of it happening peacefully, I highly doubt it. Many parts of our bloodline isn’t something to be proud of (not in a racist way, in a looking-back-at-history way).

People came and went in Italy for two millennia: from the romans moving around, greeks, barbarians of every kind and shape, middle-eastern commercing, Barbarossa, the Normans, French, Spanish, Austrians: save the vikings (I guess), everybody ruled a piece of Italy for a century of two- if there is a DNA that is tuttifrutti, it's here.

I may have Balkan DNA somewhere, but the brother of said grand-x4-pa emigrated to America when that piece of Italy was actually in the kingdom of Italy, after the 1856 war.
@azzzanadra4 жыл бұрын
@@fabiogalletti528 simply because an empire controlled a place, doesn't mean they contributed to their genetic pool. for example, i am north african, north africa was invaded by arabs, french, spanish, vandal, romans etc.. but when examining a north african's DNA you will find that french and arab blood is rare, while spanish came mostly from refugees who fled the spanish inquisition, and italians probably from the roman empire or the slave trade (north africans enslaved both blacks and white, hehe). and yet the north african DNA is still dominant in those people despite the invasions.

My mom is a genealogist. These are my facts: you inherit exactly 50% from mom and 50% from dad. BUT, which 50% of your mom's DNA you inherit is a random composition, meaning you could theoretically have 50% from your mom's mom and 0% from your mom's dad. Your mom, however, always passes 50%. Hope it's understandable. That's why you don't always receive 25% from a grandparent. So ned's grandparent may have been 100% Italian, but he just didn't catch all of his grandparent's DNA.

@yattasuccess92125 жыл бұрын
I mean, Eugene and His family definitely know about this, but ever since the Japanese left Koreans never ever labelled themselves as non-Koreans, despite the history many korean families discard any Japanese background because it was seen as a shameful time therefore later generations were taught "only korean, nothing else" or at least "only korean and something else, but never Japanese or communist." even if they have the blood proving it. It's not like Eugene isn't aware of it, more that His family never considered the Japanese side because it was seen as a disgrace, and that they were pure koreans, adding to the fact many koreans see Pure Koreans as being dominant to people who are half and so on... Many older people are ignorant to history, but because of the atrocities Japan dealt.
@miso10045 жыл бұрын
It is still a surprise because most koreans keep strict family trees... mine goes back 1200 years.. we have issues lol there is likely to be koreans with chinese and japanese dna that may have become korean and thus not be aware of it and there is also all the invasion stuff so... lots of hidden history there

Yeah... That would give you 25 percent. 1/4 grandparents are italian.
@pascusrex41525 жыл бұрын
@@hannamouse1 25% at maximum. This would only be the case of the grandmother was 100% Italian. However if a parent or grandparent of her was from somewhere else for example, it would be even less.

Vyxlene you shouldn’t! No one told them they were Irish, they just wanted to be so bad so they said they were. It was a good thing they found out so that they can stop saying something that’s untrue ahahah

Van Graff those east asian numbers for eugene were significant enough such that they were from recent generations. A couple of generations ago, the Empire of Japan had committed numerous horrendous war crimes throughout all of East and SouthEast Asia during WWII. Any asian parent from past generations would be furious at the implications.

Witch Chan But that percentage could only go back a couple generations (probably only 2 or 3) before being watered down So I don’t think natural genetic overlap is that likely, considering how eugene’s family is that proud of being korean

Eugene talks to his dad during an episode about his parents trying adoption and fertility treatments during him and his siblings conception and birth. It was presented as something that his parents just didn’t want to discuss at an earlier time, which isn’t very unusual for a lot of families. There’s a reason that the whole ‘you’re adopted’ thing is a familiar theme in media and literature. I imagine that the issue of donor genetic material is even more awkward to discuss and that a lot of parents never acknowledge it at all. Now, I’m not saying that is what happened, but it’s a possibility.

Eugenes' data makes sense from a world history perspective, especially when it comes to WW2 and the Korean war with the infiltration of the militarized Japanese government over both of the koreas.
