I think shredlights work great at night . I use them religiously. I'd still recommend adding as much lights and reflective gear to get the most visibility at night but they seem to do the job

Who tf throws water on grip tape? That's how you can spot someone who's never actually skated before. Wet grip tape is a no no.
@VenusandMaiku6 жыл бұрын
For guys that use longboards regardless of weather. they are going to get wet anyways. So purposefully putting water to clean it isn’t going to change much. If anything, just apply new grip tape.
@ceracen6 жыл бұрын
@@VenusandMaiku Yeah, you can apply new tape and it will get wet when riding if it recently rained or snowed, but purposefully soaking the tape is going to decrease the lifespan of the tape and the wood underneath significantly. I've just never seen anybody do that. Caught me off guard.

ShredLights look cool on my Boosted Board in my opinion. It’s true that it’s not the best thing to illuminate the road but it does make you more visible. I also like the fact that I don’t have to carry a flashlight in my hand.

Main thing with any e baord guys wear a helmet. No one cares how you look and you shouldent care about their opinions any how. Dozens of e baorders have gotten their heads cut open from hitting a bump or tunring sharply while going fast and even being knocked out from head to floor hit. Could even buy a used one for like 15bucks

100% agree about the shredlights..I bought them with high expectations..can’t see farther than 1-3 feet ahead of you. And when you’re going at full speed, that little amount of visibility is useless. How do you expect to react to something you only notice when it’s < 3 ft away?!

How do you pack the board with or without battery? Battery in hand luggage? The battery rules confuse me..
@illfigurethisoutlatera91974 жыл бұрын
Adam Legend the standard range battery is 99 watt hours so it just barely fits into carry on territory. The extended range on the other hand is 267 watt hours so you cant take it with you on the plane, but i’ve heard of people taking off the battery and shipping it through the mail to their destination and putting it back together later. Seems like a big hassle though.

Yea I don't see all the hype for shredlights. Mediocre lumen output and they're pretty overpriced. Honestly sounds like people simping over them. With how many people in these hobbies tend to have technical skills like 3d printing I'm surprised no ones been making an alternative. I mean instead of buying some crappy little underglow for like $40+ just buy a $5 usb LED strip from wally world and use an old battery bank to power it. Way brighter and still rechargeable

Cleaning with water will destroy the lifespan of the wood. It will soak the wood and make internal cracks. A rule for longboard is, If you find a crack. Throw away the board and get a new one. I cleaned ny first board like this and it held up for some years. but then it cracked so... They are often coated to protect from water but that will go away after a while. Cleaning is done with toothbrush or a thick brush. A sandpaper cleaner, griptape rubber or a eraser. And give it time. If you cant get it of. Just accept your griptape is rused and get is as cleaned as possible. Replace it with it starts to wear.
@VenusandMaiku5 жыл бұрын
This actually happened to me early on. Contact Boosted if this does occur. They will replace the deck for free even after warranty.
@williamwestonn5 жыл бұрын
@@VenusandMaiku that you got a crack or waterdamage? :)
@VenusandMaiku5 жыл бұрын
Not from water damage, there were just a few boards earlier on which we’re poorly constructed. This was back then before I had 1000km on the board. They’ve moved on from Bamboo to a more polymer board now to address this. However it was pretty common for loaded Boosted boards to crack.

Airplane safe bag. Useless since your board isn't allowed on. (Or do you have a sub 100 battery for when you're traveling?

Shred lights are great. What the fuck you talking about? Granted not the best to light your path but it sure does allow cars to see you at night. They also look cool.
@VenusandMaiku6 жыл бұрын
I just think there are way more effective and cheaper ways to achieve the end objective. The angle of the lights from 2 inches off the ground at 80lumens won't help detect potholes going at pro speed. Where a tactical flashlight with 350 lumens will let you see the potholes going at pro speed. And no the solution isn't to slow down. It's to get more effective solutions. In my opinion, Electric Longboards are cool. However, adding lights which don't work very well to look cool is try-hard cringe territory. But you do you.

Yo Maiku, I just found ur channel and FINALLY someone in Toronto. I'm in Toronto, and I was thinking of getting a Boosted Board v2 and I know its fine in NY, but is this even legal in Toronto? I swear it's TECHNICALLY not allowed? You ever have any problems with the cops riding this around downtown Toronto? Thanks
@VenusandMaiku6 жыл бұрын
Good news buddy! In the province of Ontario, skateboards & longboards cannot be considered as a vehicle in the Ontario Highway Act. Which means it's 100% legal to use in Ontario. Now there are bylaws in Toronto that say you are not allowed to use things on the roadways, but it's extremely rarely enforced. It's the same by-law that bans road hockey. Toronto and York region police also know there are no laws against using longboards for travel. The only thing to watch is the speed limit on bikelanes. It's 20km/h. But extremely rarely enforced. Stoked to see more people in Toronto with boards. Cheers buddy!
