I am not a brand expert, but from what I have been told the size/capacity information in this video is incorrect. While the Miele washers an dryers DO have a lower volume, the capacity is not significantly less than an average sized washer/dryer because you can fill it more than the others. You can put a queen sized comforter in these without issue, which is usually the largest item for anything but an XL industrial sized machine. The reason Miele can be filled higher is they clean better. THey have a honeycomb drum, more powerful pumps, reversing drums, higher spin speed, and other features that result in clothes getting cleaner and less tangled (those are the reasons you can't fill the other brands as full). Please correct me if I am wrong. An item he missed: heat pump driers save much more than the energy cost of running the dryer itself. They also have a radical positive impact on HVAC costs, because they are not actively running a fan that is pulling the heated or air-conditioned air out of your home. An old-fashioned heating element and fan style dryer will remove 100% of the air from a 900 square foot home in one hour, a 1800 square foot home in two hours, a 2700 square foot home in 3 hours (assuming average ceiling height). He did mention that the lower temperatures cause less wear and tear on your clothing, which is kudos to him because most appliance reviewers miss that. A common gripe for any brand of heat pump dryers take too long. They do take longer. It is more like a dishwasher. I don't know what to tell you... just stop hovering and walk away. Start a load before you go to bed and turn it over before you leave for work. If you need more than two loads a day, and you don't work from home, then you might want a traditional dryer. I do know one large family who got two sets of Miele; one for the master bathroom and another for the kids bathroom. Another common gripe is clogs and leaks. An appliance repair friend says the Miele machines are more sensitive to overuse of detergents and fabric softeners, and low quality detergents and fabric softeners that leave residues on your clothes. He said he tells these customers to use the TwinDos dispensers and no fabric softener, and it will save them money in the end. The detergent is cheaper than you think because a cartridge lasts a long time, and the savings on service calls is massive.

I had a Miele. Love the machine, but its capacity is far less than a normal washer. The Miele heat pump dryer doesn't take as long becaus ethe washer spin is 1600 RPM

These fast spin speeds sound impressive but they are not good for your clothes. They can pop the stitches because of the stress they create and they create terrible wrinkles on clothes that need ironing. On clothes that matter to you, use a slower spin speed and then hang them on plastic hangers....they'll last longer and be easier to iron. I ruined some beautiful Christy Renaissance towels using the high spin speed ... the edges all frayed due to popped stitches.

Faster spins are good for more rugged fabrics without question.

Auto dispensing detergent makes me think of mold, gunked up and dried up detergent. Doesn’t seem like a good idea over time.

Interesting point, but auto dispensing allows you to not add too much and cause that gunk inside the machine.

@@YaleAppliance1 , that’s true though it depends on the user. I’d much rather feed the dispenser each time as I probably tend to use less than what’s normal.
