The type 5 does not seem to be me, the motivations of a 5 are not mine (fears, weaknesses). Although I do enjoy gaining knowledge, it is more as an INTJ. It seems type 4 may be my type after all.

When u said the core fear is being unintelligent is the biggest threat to my existence . I doubt myself a lot for same but if someone called me that , I will end them.

Type 5 is my wing so I definitely saw a lot of traits that I recognise in myself. And it also confirmed that I'm a 4w5 and not a 5w4 because my core 4 matches the type 4 more than the type 5. It's funny that you mentioned the type 5 likes being alone, Hillary. I remember an instance a few years ago when my mother and sister travelled abroad for a week and my brother also ended up MIA for that same week to hang out at his friends' house; leaving me home alone for the week. And I LOVED it! My family called me everyday to see how I was doing and make sure I was okay and I had a blast for those seven days. Unlike my sister, I really don't mind being alone, once I have food and Wi-Fi, I'm golden! She's a 6 and HATES being alone; can't even make an hour before she's calling her friends to come over :P

Thanks for the video! I think you nailed it on the head. When I was first learning about the enneagram, I wasn’t sure if I was a 5 or an 8. As I dug deeper, I found those core 4 for each type. I felt sympathy for the plight of the 5, but it didn’t really fit me. When I read the ones for the 8, I knew it was me, as I immediately started crying and my first thought was “well, that solves that problem.”

Also, for anyone out there relying on a test, 8 did not even pop up in my top 3. The top 3 I got were 3, 5, and 1.

Hillary, Your explanation of the core 4 really hits home! I used to wonder if i mistyped.. but now i know i’m not. Funny thing is i actually am doubtful “am i really 5 or i’m just hoping” even after this and did a further research haha

Dang, a lot of this sounds like me NOW. But as a kid I was way more extroverted and wanted to fit in with groups. I've been dealing with a ton of stress for the last few years and went from being an extrovert to a massive recluse. I see a lot of type 5, 7 and also 4 in me.

Not gonna lie. Got a little emotional hearing the core points. I genuinely do feel like my needs are not only a problem, but a burden to people. I'm not used to people seeing my core. Its a little uncomfortable. I've watched a lot of enneagram videos, & yours have been the first to not leave me with even more questions. Thanks to your videos, I finally feel like I know I'm a 5w4. Which gives me a direct type to focus on learning as much as I can about. I'll probably look into the others once I have my own nailed down. Thanks again.

I've been typed as a 5 in a couple of tests over the years - but I care much more about my relationships than learning and gaining knowledge. Also I struggle to understand the core longing and the wounding childhood message. As a child, I guess I was more a "typical" 5.

I am an INFJ type 5 and I am obsessed with learning about people. If I like someone I really want to know everything about them, if they let me I am going to psychonanalyze them until I understand their thought processes completely. I also use my knowledge to make everyone comfortable and welcome, at work and at home. I like learning about other things too, but humans is what has always fascinated me the most. So you might just combine these two traits.

Don't know if I'm actually 5, or I'm just super introverted with communication problems...But I totally relate to the withdrawal types

Although I'm a 1, this sounds SO like me. Not sure what you think of tritypes, but INFJinxed which you might know gave me a tritype of 153. I've also gotten a 5 before on truity.

_thunder rattles the Type 5's knowledge center as the camera moves past the door to a figure sitting there, fingers steepled and brow furrowed. The figure turns to acknowledge the camera_ Ah, hello there. Welcome to the knowledge center. This is where I, a humble yet tyrannical 5, watches over everyone who... who... _glances past the camera_ Line? _inaudible reply_ What do you mean _It's easy, just read the script_ ? Listen here, Tarantino-- _more inaudible reply, camera zooming out_ If you *_knew_* how to write a script, you would have already *_sold_* a script to Hollywood. Remember that whole pipe dream? That you seriously thought that someone would actually *_want_* to listen to what you thought? Man what-- _open, ugly weeping starts off camera_ What? What did-- Did you allow Wing 6 on the set? _grimace_ What do you mean you didn't have anyone else to operate the boom mike? Seven can easily-- _more inaudible words_ Yeah... Yeah, I did leave Seven as a pinata for that One kid to use as a toy. Best choice I've made in five years, that's for sure. Did you see the look on his face when Seven was begging for mercy and wanted to bribe the poor kid? That look of joy as the bat cracked his-- _glances at Wing 6_ Stop filming me! Go help Wing 6, you know how sensitive he is. He just wants to fit in here and you keep messing it up, Wing 4. _a shocked gasp followed by inaudilbe cursing_ Whoa, whoa! You need to calm down, *_Mr. director_* or else you are going to send Wing 6 over the edge here. As far as I am concerned, we're done. _panicked pleading_ No, no. You decided this was important for your *_artistic creativity_* when we all know you can't even color inside the lines on your best day. *Get out!* _grumbling can be heard as the camera pulls back_ I swear, everyone is an artist around here. I so need a brain upgrade.... Honestly, there was an eyebrow raise when I heard the last core need. That resonated pretty deeply, especially with everything I have gone through. All very true, but the worst part is that I can't seem to get people to understand why I need these things, epsecially when they are the opposite of who they are. It is like trying to speak French to a Canadian Moose when clearly he speaks with a Wisconsin accent, you know? A great video here, fantastic primer for 5's, and I am sure a welcome addition to any knowledge horder like myself. This is why I had to get a second brain going to at least do something with it. Now if only I could do that for my physical goods...
