Fun fact thatcha missed on Trivia Murder Party 2! While the dolls in Murder Party 1 are based on The Seven Deadly Sins, the dolls in 2 are based on characters in a murder mystery For example, the two lovers (pink heart), the red herring (red fish), the jock (buff orange guy), the nerd (grey guy with glasses), the jokester (purple jester), and so on!

I always play monster seeking monster with an additional in-house rule; everyone picks a character as their name, stays in character, and doesn't tell anyone else which character they are. Removes the dimensions of "ooh wow these two are dating they're just going to go out with each other every night" and "I don't wanna hurt someone's feelings so I don't want to play", lets the strategic fun of the game come alive a lot more.

Fun fact: The reason that Civic Doodle primarily uses kazoo and slide whistle for its soundtrack is because Andy Poland was trying to finish the soundtrack last minute and needed an instrument that he could play easily without much skill. So, he pulled out a bunch of instruments that you don't even really have to know music theory to play. Kind of like how you don't have to have any art skills to play Civic Doodle.

also if anyone finds Job Job incredibly limiting, I recommend the house rule of telling everyone to just word-vomit to hit the character limit in all the ice breakers. it may take a while in the icebreaker phase but it is WORTH it to have just a ton of words to use.

YES I came here to post this! In our games of MSM (and now Roomerang) we all try to be as "anonymous" as possible. Some of us even do bits, like calling themselves "Grandma" and acting the part in the texts...and then she turns out to be the monster hunter. It has us rolling on the floor every time. I feel like the games that have you take on "characters" are far better this way, because you add the aspect of "who the hell IS this?!" AND take away the awkwardness of weird conversation with someone you know. It makes me wonder why it's not an official suggestion of how to play.

At first, I lumped role models in with other unimpressive games like Joke boat, Dictionarium, Lie Swatter, etc... Then when I made some new friends I played some jackbox with them for the first time. After playing some Trivia Murder Party 2, I looked trough the pack if there was any other game we'd wanna play before switching, which is when one of them asked "What's role models?". I explained the basics and said that it wasn't an interesting game, but admitted that I didn't remember much of it due to only playing it twice before. They convinced me to try it once more and we ended up having so much fun that we kept playing this game over and over again for the next 3 hours. I assumed that this must have been a fluke and the game just happened to mesh well with this new friend group, but when I played the game with the friend group I originally played it with again, the same thing happened where we kept playing it over and over again (while other games we play once or twice and then switch). I think the worst part of the game is the climax as it tries to hype you up for roles that are often just kinda lame (luckily there are exceptions). I think the real fun from this game comes from finding out how everyone sees each other and being able to predict what the rest of the group is going to do. I no longer go into this game expecting it to be funny but instead see it as a little bit of bonding between friends in game form.

My only gripe with Earwax is that games can go on for what feels like forever when you have many people playing (such as the max of 8) since a player needs to get 3 points to win but the judge can potentially pick anyone except the people who needs another point to win, which can cause the game to really drag on especially if the people picked haven’t gotten a point yet

The worst part of monster seeking monster is the zombie. It is BEYOND over powered. Because of the infection mechanic, every game I've played with a zombie has them win. I wish they'd maybe just get a bonus heart for every zombie instead of just winning the entire game
@bobthebox2993
@bobthebox2993 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, like, I'm perfectly fine with not every role being equally powerful, but the zombie is just too powerful and easy. I've seen the zombie lose once and that's just because they got unlucky and ended up rejected the first 2 nights, so the infection didn't have much time to spread. I really like hidden infection stuff, but the game already has a monster that does this way better: the Werewolf.

Monster Seeking Monster has another issue you forgot to mention and that's playing it with family or friends that aren't comfortable with that kind of stuff is just awkward, at least from my experiences. I think it's best to do it with people who obviously don't have feelings and know everything for fun and also isn't family members, or just ask people to play cup pong with you and that works just as well. Idk the whole dating other players aspect is for sure a turn off for some players, even if it is just a game.

joke boat is actually one of my favourites , while it definitely isnt for everyone with the right sense of humour it becomes HILARIOUS (i am not saying this because i always win i swear) putting inside jokes with friends into the game really helps with the comedy aspect, like one of the words i got for my jokes was just my friend’s name and cyberbullying is always funny

One of kids introduced the family to Jackbox, with PP3 on the Switch. We played it most Saturdays for ages, then in a quest to get more Jackbox I found all the packs on ridiculously low (PPs 1-6) or very reasonable (PPs7-9) for Steam via G2A. With six of us in the household we get a lot of enjoyment out of it, two packs being a full evening's entertainment. Our 11yo's do a good line in dark humour too, so everyone 'gets it'. For shits and giggles, my top bunch in particular order are Fibbage 3 (for that aesthetic, man), The Devils and the Details, Quiplash (any), Job Job, Champ'd Up, Bidiots, Monster Seeking Monster and Trivia Murder Party 2. And my favourite things to randomly shout out are 'BREATHE IT IN!' (Guesspionage) and 'HEE-HAW!' (Bidiots).

That was a lovely rundown of the Jackbox games. I regularly played on Twitch a few years ago with various streamers. The reaction to Zeeple Dome was unanimous. It got played once on a channel, if that, and never again. I love all your top ones, but my fave is Tee K.O with its gorgeous presentation and, yes, the ability to get a real-world version of one's wonderful Tee creationj!

honestly blather rounds is such a fan favorite amongst my friends and i, im surprised its not rated higher!! there's such raw hilarity in someone trying their very best to put together a hint, the hint not landing at all, and the prompt screen filling with a bunch of 'what' "???' 'dude', all read out by the flat, robotic robotic TTS

This is not a Jackbox flaw per se, but the major problem I have with some games is the fact that most of my family members don't know english, so I can just play like drawful 2, because we can make our own phrases, and if I play with people who understand English, the problem becomes the fact that no one knows most of the trivia questions because there are too many "American" questions.
@SwampwaterYT

Try getting the Jackbox Party Starter. That game supports for many different languages. The Party Starter features Quiplash 3, Trivia Murder Party 2, and TeeKO It is a smaller collection of games but I think it might be worth while for you!

I'm glad that the later packs now allow you to filter out US-centric questions. The main gripe we had with Trivia Murder Party 1, was how many of the questions were way too American. Trivia Murder Party 2 feels significantly better thanks to largely being able to disable those questions

I have packs 3-7 on my Switch, and I agree with your placement of 3. That was the first one I played, my cousin introduced it to me while he was visiting in 2020. That being said, Tee KO is by far my favorite. The amount of times that that game got people to laugh till they cried is priceless. Man those are precious memories. I used to play Jackbox with my friend group all of the time but that group fell apart lol. I really miss playing with others BUT I got to play with my family on New Year's and it was super fun :D

One thing I love about talking points is that if you have a text channel on your discord server you can play even without a mic! my main issue with champ'd up is it can often lead to injokes like funny thing but X, at least with tee ko you might be forced to pick between 2 injokes

My favorite moment of jackbox was when me and my family were playing weapons drawn, and my younger brother could only spell his own name. One round everyone had the same idea, and every butler that walked in was some variation on his name or random numbers. It was also enhanced due to me doing overly dramatic narration during the game.

Tee KO is a favorite between me and my friends, as we are consistently choking by the end of it. We always get the best rng to make shirts that decimate us. Front Facing Manny sweeps every time he shows up and consistently destroys our lungs.

43:50 I think my favourite aspect of Push the Button is how intense it becomes and how much more stressful the endgame is compared to the start. But it's a fun kind of stress and yelling at your friends to try and figure out who the aliens are never gets old. Definitely one of Jackbox's best games and it's such a shame it's so underrated.

Tip for people that don't like Job Job that much! I feel like Job Job is peak fun if everyone writes nearly incoherent and rambling stories for their prompt answers. Even if you don't have an actual answer, just make it long by digressing or getting off topic. I've managed to piece together the strangest stuff that somehow answered the question and the results have been 10/10 every time I've played.

My family fucking loves Role Models. It’s a lot of fun to assign people the roles, and we enjoy getting the results at the end :) It’s also the easiest to get my parents/grandparents/other adult relatives into, because it doesn’t require “talent” in any way, just knowing the people around you. The most fun I had with it, though, was in a fandom discord where we all assigned roles to the characters from the fandom, moving from main characters to fanon-only characters. I’ve played it at least 30 times with various groups lol
