Assuming that no server merge happens, you can place your map bundle on an island and it will be subject to the normal loot despawn timer. As long as the bundle doesn't despawn, the buried items won't.

At 7:33 you say that if the ship sinks and you loose the map bundle, the loot disappears. That is not correct. You can even actively drop the map bundle so other ships don't find it. The loot will be there unless you change servers (or get merged out).

I (an hourglass GOF) sunk a hourglass solo dark adventurer sails 3 times in a row and on the third sink he was on my ship pretty High in water and killed me with the blunderbus saying “your gonna sink anyway, bitch” I wish I gotten his gamer tag to send him screenshot of the 72,000 hourglass turn in right after that to end the double xp event at Sunday 11:56pm. We will meet again on the high seas pirate
