In this video, we’re going to talk about the causes of hair loss.
When dealing with hair loss, it’s really best to treat the causes of hair loss rather than the symptom, which is the hair loss.
What causes hair loss?:
1. Hair thinning-The thyroid gland can cause thinning of the hair
Causes of a thyroid problem:
• Liver problem
• Lack of bile
• Estrogen spike
2. Receding hairline-An androgen problem
Causes of an androgen problem
• High levels of insulin
• High levels of cortisol
• IGF
3. Patches (alopecia)-An autoimmune problem
Cause of this autoimmune problem:
• Overactive adrenal from a stress event

Just for the people who reads the comment. Quit Sugar! I went from having very frizzy hair, almost afro after shower, it was very dry and my hair looked worse the longer it got. Then i quit sugar.. and just one of the many, many positives i noticed was a much better hair. Now its not frizzy at all, its not messy, it doesnt stand in 180 directions, its like i take conditioner, the best hair care products everyday without doing anything.

I see a lot of comments that bashed Dr. Berg for saying certain things about certain diets. He didn't say that everyone who did high protein or everyone that became vegetarian would lose their hair. He mentioned that people with certain body types and different cases that he's come across couldn't handle a particular diet course that they'd chosen. He says no diet is one size fits all meaning some people do better with high protein, so do better without animal products, etc. Why are individuals always so ready to jump down a person's throat when they hear something that clearly doesn't apply to them? We have two ears and one mouth. We are to listen twice as much as we speak. It's the course of wisdom. Goodness gracious.

The state of my hair has become a reliable tell for whether I'm in a bad relationship. Every time I've been in a stressful relationship my hair has started thinning and falling out. When I'm single and no longer have that stress, my hair begins to grow back and becomes thicker. I also end up with new grey streaks in my hair every time I'm in a stressful relationship. I'm committed to staying single for a year right now and my hair has become full and lustrous lol.

Same here, I went to see my doctor last year when I first noticed my hair falling a lot but my doctor didn't do anything she just told me to start taking some vitamins and put some hair oils, I did that but for some reason my hair fall got worst the oils dried my hair so much and the vitamins made me break out I was getting acne. So some doctors just don't take hair fall that serious which is very irresponsible.

2 years ago a SEVERE anxiety disorder came out of nowhere (well, looking back I see exactly how it happened but at the time it seemed out of the blue). I am currently 39 years old and until that point, my hairline was unchanged. Now, I have lost about an inch on the hairline. Thankfully, I have solved my anxiety (I was on medication but it did not help and made me a zombie) through a period of INTENSE personal growth...I believe I have undergone an 'ego death'. So, cortisol WILL decimate your hairline! I am taking some supplements, working out and trying to be mentally peaceful and my hair is already feeling thicker, hopefully I will grow back at least some of what was lost.

I feel that my hair loss and thinning was due to a stressful time in my life, as well as weightlifting and use of creatine monohydrate supplements. Look Into Iodine! I use ( J.Crow's). As soon as started using it, my hair stopped falling out in chunks. Granted by the time I found out the problem my hair is really thin, but at least it stopped falling out every time I showed, brushed, or put my hands though my hair. Come to find out lots of people or Iodine defecent. I can't promise it will work for everyone, but that was what my body was missing. I honesty think it started when I did a detox. I think I literally detoxed all my reserves and thats when I really started noticing the problems, and never replenished myself. Find what your missing and fix yourelf. Good luck!

@@doulidle3717 You're supposed to start off with small doses. So the first week add 1-3 drops in water every day. I read that apple cider vinger with the "mother" is best. It helps the body cleans out the toxins. You can add the vinger to taste. Then I eventually raised it to 10 drops a day. But I'm now using 5% solution. Also if you want add a Selenium tablet. It's supposed to help your body absorb everything better. Good luck! I've been doing it for a few months now.

@Food4thought1234
@Food4thought1234 5 жыл бұрын
@@doulidle3717 They recommend starting off with small doses because most people feel sick because of the detoxification, but you can add more if you like. I personally found that taking it right before bed was the easiest. (because I'm lazy) I started just taking it with a meal, then slowly just took it on an empty stomach. Or if you pee a lot when sleeping just do it in the morning. I'm sure it's better by itself, but it's up you. I want to say that after a month or less I noticed a difference. I don't really remember honestly. I remember I did notice a difference pretty quickly. I've been taking it so long that I figured I was good, so I stopped for about a week or two and I started noticing hair falling out again. So now I take it every other day/every day. I don't think there is regrowth, but my hair has more volume and just looks better. it's not limp and dead and falling out in my hands like before. (but it could be because of the new shampoo) Haha But you have to remember everyone is different. My issue may have be different from yours. I've had stomach issues for a long time. So I'm thinking my body was low on minerals and not absorbing them right. I think this helped correct my issue. Also I'm assuming that it took years for my body to get this way, so it might take just as long to fix itself. Now it's just habit for the most part and I don't think about it. But I didn't even know so many people were iodine deficient. Also a side note I just started with Blackstrap Molasses and the OMAD. I saw this on Dr. Berg other videos. And I fell freaking awesome and lost 20 pounds. But I'm writing too much. Just start off small. Do the Iodine and apple cider vinegar and see if you notice a difference. I really hope it works for you too. I'm not stressed about my hair anymore. I'm just glad it's not falling out anymore. (Last reminder) Don't be worried if you do see some hair fall out. It is normal anyway, and they say sometimes it falls out more before it stops. But don't loose heart. If you remember let me know if it worked for you.

Lots of good info particularly about the adrenals and stress I have to disagree on the protein part I have been a vegetarian for a years and get good amounts of vegetable proteins daily, my health is quite good as compare to some meat eaters but my hair loss started through extreme prolonged stress so your info on the adrenals overworking and producing all those hormones is spot on. Thank you

I have watched a few of ur videos now back to back in search of finding a solution to my thinning hair and I am so thankful I found your videos cause all the other videos are on how to treat the symptoms of thinning hair and I have been actually doing everything people have been suggesting in their videos from the black tea rinse to apple cider to oils to biotins to you name it I have tried it all and my hair is still thinning and it's been more then one year now so finally after watching your videos I think I know why I might be having this problem. I am going to pay my doctor a visit and insets on getting my thyroids or hormone levels checked and also I will stay away from all the bad stuff you mentioned as much as I can possible. Thank you so much for your videos Dr

Incredibly informative video Dr. I am 20 years old and when I was searching for info about MPB and alopecia I had problems finding all of the info in one place. Do you think that the effects of MPB can be minimized or even avoided until later in life (40+ years) by reducing all of the causes and staying mineralized?

I’ve lost 40lbs eating keto/omad. After 4 mos am losing hair. It’s been happening for 6 weeks or so. I’m scared but don’t want to change my eating cause I look and feel great. All blood tests improved except thyroid which had always been normal. I’m sure at next blood test the thyroid will be a big topic. Dread it cause no doctors know or understand keto around here (south Florida).

Dr. Berg, at age 18 I was diagnosed with abnormal liver function (via biopsy) as all of my liver enzymes were extremely elevated. My ALT was 360, all the others were 2-3 times normal levels. Doctor said it was likely hereditary. I've eaten well the last few years, but the liver enzymes remain highly elevated. Any reason as to why in your view?

My bet is if you are naturally high in androgen then you wont be able to do much. It's worth a shot to give his diet advice a try though to try to slow the process down. Cut the carbs after 5pm and attempt to lower stress. Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep without fail. I have taken exogenous growth hormone and it raised my IGF 1 levels. I'm not really androgenic so it didnt affect my hair at all. My cortisol levels remain very low for some reason and I intermittent fast to keep insulin low. At 36 I have a full head of thick hair and no noticeable grey.
