In 1750, India had 23% of the world's GDP because it had 25% of the world's population. However, Britain was already a wealthy country even before it colonized India. If we look at the per-capita income of India and Britain in the 1750s, Britain's per-capita income was three times that of India as per Maddison's data, and India's per-capita income had been declining for a century before Britain won the Battle of Plassey. Comparing the total GDP of India and Britain in the 1750s to argue that India was richer than Britain is like saying that Uttar Pradesh is richer than Goa today. Later, the Industrial Revolution occurred in the Western world after the Scientific Revolution, with the invention of machines and technologies like the steam engine, and their wealth increased exponentially. Meanwhile, India's global share of GDP dropped to 4% in 1950. The same thing happened in China, which was not directly colonized. In fact, China's per-capita income was even lower than India's at the time of independence. During the 1750s, China's per-capita income was higher than India's. Therefore, if we say that Asian countries are poorer because of colonization, then what happened to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia, which were not colonized? It's worth noting that Nepal has a similar history and culture to India, yet it is the poorest country in Asia. The fact that Nepal was not colonized by the British undermines the argument that colonization is solely responsible for a country's level of poverty. If Britain was so rich why did it came to India and took roughly 45 trillion. If we were so poor how did we pump out that kind of money. Take your industrial revolution and shove it up you bum you guys were animal skin wearing nomad savages when we were indulging in philosophy. What culture did you have? Did you have any cultural food? You know why you guys don't have one because you're busy hunting and surviving the winter that's all. The Greeks and Egyptian had a civilization, we had Indus valley civilization. Where is your civilization. And for the numbers Britain wasn't even in the top five in 1700 hundreds. By 1820 it became the third after colonizing India. So open your ass and study the IMF numbers and If you were so rich without India we would like that 45 trillion back. Thank you

@@jeanettewee8805 Yes it is true that Britain was already a wealthy country but that doesn't justify the racism and the intentional destruction of the economics of a population through forcibly restricting trade with all their available international trade partners, demanding exorbitant taxes even during crop failures during bad climate, breaking hands of skilled workers for eliminating competition like a criminal cartel or a mafia, using individuals as slaves, unethically taking away land ownership from natives. Britain may have been wealthier but that will never justify the demonic actions done on India. Any decent person with a workable mind will never justify straight up brutal mass rape.

Very honest review....thanks for your sincere take. It is said that while the British, French and others took away much of the material wealth fr India, many Germans, particularly philosophers, scholars, scientists took Indian Vedic and other 'Shashtra' knowledge to develop technology, particularly the first rocketry in Europe, before and during the Nazi era. Some prominent names like von Braun and his mentor ( 'guru') Herman Oberth. There is a school of thought that they had learnt the basics of astronautic ideas and tech fr the ancient Hindu texts. Later after WWII von Braun and his team ( estimated to be 3000) of German scientists, technicians were taken in by the American military and intelligence in an ops called 'Paperclip' in US. These ppl were the same who created the base for what later became NASA...there are yt vids on this subject fr channels like 'History'....would be good if you could review...best n cheers

What is India/Bharat? It's certainly difficult. more than 1000 years of widespread destruction, millions were killed, millions of women were raped, and millions were converted. Thousands of years-old temples and universities were destroyed (such as Nalanda University and others) plus Almost 200 years of foreign occupation led to complete financial ruin and the loss of the most precious Indian Artifacts. The country was divided into many parts, leaving it in a situation where standing is impossible. How brutal our history has been, and how unimaginable the situation our ancestors faced was. They preserved our oldest culture and protected our motherland for over 1200 years. Now, we are witnessing the bright future that was once beyond imagination

Interestingly, when the British arrived in India, the concept of beggars as we understand it today did not exist. Here's a fascinating fact: In India, begging had a different connotation. There were individuals known as "Sadhus" who dedicated their lives to learning the ways of life and spirituality. These people spent their entire lives in meditation and had no means of earning a livelihood. During that time, they were referred to as beggars not because they sought alms for themselves but because people recognized their spiritual contributions and provided support to them. Today, however, the concept of begging in world has evolved into something quite different.

The main problem with the British, and why many still blame them is because (1) they never owned the land. They just saw India as a cash cow (2) all the taxes that were paid by indians went to improve their army and their nation. One od the reason India still continues to have all the buildings and railways built during the British era is because it was built by our tax money. When the muslim invations happenned, they might have destroyed many temples and infiltrated their culture, but they owned India. They spent all the taxes within India. So despite them taking over, India still prospered. Just imagine if British just did their trade instead of completely devastating its people, every technological improvement that happenned over the past 200 yrs would have included Indians. All the world wars that Britain participated had Indians, all british colonies even now contains Indians. British should actually be thankful and greatful to Indians that all their infrastruture, roads and schools were actually funded by Indian tax money. When you are not only looted of wealth, history, pride for 200 yrs, building that back up is an insane task. It might take 50 more yrs to come out of poverty. Even today many Indian cheapos still thrive for White approval.

Whats sad is that modern day british people are completely unaware of all the atrocities they have committed in india and are even taught in history classes that the british "modernized" india and helped us improve economically and socially. Im sure modern day brits are understanding enough to take some shame or atleast admit the gore their ancestors have committed but its the fact they refuse to teach their citizens any of their ugly colonial history and only teach glorified side of their colonialism boasting of "modernizing" their colonies. The deliberate erasure of so many main historical massacres and man made famines from their textbooks, seems so cunning, after all even to this day still true to their nature, huh.

Even here in India we are not taught many many things about our past, let alone UK or US. And the worst part is not even the economical destruction, in fact it is the most superficial layer, the White European Christian Coloniser's real success was the mental, spiritual, cultural, institutional & moral subversion, the civilisational plunder & destruction, because that took from us the fundamental ability, the spine to fight back, to rebuild, to grow, teach & learn about our greatness, history, strengths, antiquity, the reality & everything to everything, and that colonially defeated psyche is present even today. It's not the economic sector where we are struggling but the civilisational sector.

Even if India was a manufacturing powerhouse, it doesn't make the fact that the Industrial Revolution started in Britain false. The Industrial Revolution refers to mass production in factories of goods. Indian manufacturing was more like individuals doing their own thing. It also refers to Europe specifically.

The dismantling systems actually killed several unique arts, technology, education ...and several things we don't even know. That is the saddest part. That's the reason I hate britsh raj. take our money we will earn some how again. they destroyed our society. Every system that helped people, these arts were developed over thousands of years. and now we will never every regain that. It lost gone. The hard work of our ansestory to develop these technology is gone. Culture takes several thousands of years to develop. Currently we are still struggling with a huge farming population. We are still here, after everything we maintained our culture, maintained our values. We will be here.

The Islamic kingdoms did drain India to send back to The Ottomans and Central Asia as they considered the caliph as their head of state. It’s just that they were consumed with raw hate and were not particularly ingenious. They were more occupied by internal politics like in the slavery driven sultanates where future rulers were slaves who killed their masters.Thats 400 years of Islamic rule. And the Mughals were just spoiled. Most Indian wealth was in the private coffers of the royals, rampant corruption and sons killing fathers to get to the throne.Islamic rule was riddled by violence of religious hate and violence of throne grabbing .This occupied most of their time. This impoverished people but kept the money in India. That is why the Nizam and Mughals were both courted and looted by the British.Stupidity had set in. This actually primed the country to become easy pray for the British because the people who could have defended it were impoverished and the Mughals had no interest in it till the British started targeting them. And by then it was too late.

took 200 years to loot India while reducing its GDP from 26% to less than 2% besides reducing the population to 90% illiteracy and starvation. Those Indians who helped them perpetuated the same governance with vicious divisive politics based on birth that ensured easy manipulation and exploitation. Huge chunks of wealth was siphoned abroad. That colonial residue persists amongst dynasties littering the landscape and form the main opposition to Bharat and Sanatan Dharma. Both of these predates ANY concept in human history.

I just shed tears listening to this video , even thou i have read the entire history multiple times. Also, mughal invasion wasnt as gud as what it has been showed in this video. Same Will Durant (american historian) says the following ""The Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precious good, whose delicate complex of order and freedom, culture and peace, can at any moment be overthrown by barbarians invading from without or multiplying within." The one civilization that can even claim any victimhood is indian civilization. However, we still work hard march along with the utmost humility and passion. Vasudheiva Kutumbakam is wat our civilization thought us. At least now, i hope those colonized indian minds which are reading this comment should shed their colonial biases and the brainwashed self loathe that has been created on our civilization and its people and come together as indians for our own betterment.

Cartel dear slve paxtani convert troll. Mughal did nothing but loot and destroy temples and built over it. And no it didn't defeat anyone as it was many times defeated by maratha and others. Nor it conquered whole india. It conquered ur region paxtan and converted ur fore fathers in heera mandi. Also Mughals never abolished any imaginary caste system. On contrary Mughals brought backward - woman in tent, submissive woman controlled by man, all non muslims kafir, shia kafir, pay tax to visit temple, harem mujhra kidnapping woman culture. Secondly, Caste was portuguese word, no such thing or word in Indian religion. Infact Hindus had varna system which means occupation/job and anyone cud become what they want, when they learned skill for it. So don't enforce portuguese thrash on us. Zamindar is Mughal islamic word and culture not indian. And it's still followed in paxtan, not india. India abolished feudal system. Secondly Brahmins never ruled India, no king in India was Brahmin. Brahmins are priests in temple. U andh namazi j,hadis are joke🤣

"The East India Company didn't cause a decline in the economy of India, the reverse is true. . .[ and it ] could never have survived without the collaboration and partnership of thousands of Indian merchants, agents, artisans, bankers, and transporters. The Company was the biggest business firm in the world of its time, and therefore, made many Indians fabulously rich. Some of the most famous entrepreneurs and business families of nineteenth-century India made their money trading with the Company or with European merchants. Palatial homes in the north of Calcutta attest to that wealth. These profits were much larger in scale than the profits the Company sent back to England". Quotation from: The East India Company. The World’s Most Powerful Corporation. Tirthankar Roy, 2012 Penguin Books. Tirthankar Roy, Professor of Economic History, born and educated in India.

Rick and Korbin should also know that the atrocities and mischievousness of the British and the while race never ended with India's independence in 1947 after some 200 years of colonialism. Before being booted out of India they did the inevitable that an evil mind can only do. Knowing fully well the determination, morale and capability of the Indian people to bounce back from abject poverty and deprivation, they cunningly divided this rich land into two nations so that India can never ever rise again. This was done most strategically on economic and religious lines. Take the case of two of the most prosperous states of Punjab and Bengal. They were partitioned in such a manner that the industrial regions were bifurcated from the fertile hinterland that produced the food and cash crops that were required for the factories. Again, by the Britishers' policy of divide and rule, enmity was created between the two newly formed nations. Thus being on perpetual wars will drain the precious resources and hamper economic growth and development.

+ The British created the system of indentured labour to offset the labour shortage created by the so called stopping of the African slave trade. They don't say that they repackaged the slave trade wirh Indians & renamed it as indentured labour. They also used the impoverishment they caused to push their religion at us and we suffer from this colonisation to this day. Remember the point raised by the video about confiscation of lands from peasants who couldn't pay taxes; that land went to the church when the British left India, making the church the second largest land holder in India after the Indian army . Many , even Indians, don't talk about this. The 2 major religions of the world hold a a lot of land & power in India over the Hindu masses., And it is a mockery of intelligence to call them minorities in India. What Indians today suffer from is this tyranny by the erstwhile colonial, oppressive religious minorities who work to this day to break / destroy India further.
