On 31 July 2006 I was involved in a motorcycle accident where a car pulled out in front of me. I subsequently landed on my head while trying to do an endo to keep from hitting the car on the drivers side front quarter panel just in front of the outside mirror of the drivers door. My wife at the time said that when I finally woke up in the hospital, I asked her "aren't you glad I bought that Helmet now"? She wasn't very happy that I had spent so much for a helmet until it saved my life!! C-3 in my neck was shattered BUT....I'm alive with titanium in my neck & I still ride that same motorcycle today. All thanks to my Arai helmet!!!!

My Arai helmet saved my life when I was run over by a truck pulling a boat . I broke over 40 bones but my face is still pretty !

When comparing full face helmets, no real world scientific evidence exists that Arai, Shoei or other premium brands are safer than cheaper alternatives. That being said, as an Arai owner (Quantum-X) , I trust Arai and appreciate their quality and comfort.

They all pass specific testing standards but that's just the minimum. I think Arai is the best in the world but that comes from owning and selling them for years.

I guess it depends on what you mean by real-world, but the Snell rating is certainly matters. For me, all I have to do is see the flexibility in the cheaper helmets shell to convince myself that Arai is safer (a flexible shell can't possibly be safe). Of course, on any giving crash, who knows.
