There isn't much mystery as to why people keep watching the show. It's a commitment thing. Everyone who has followed it for this long wants to see it through to the end, even if the episode quality takes a major nosedive beforehand. Myself and most of the people I know who watch the show feel the same way. That being said, this needs to end soon

Seasons 1-4 were good. Season 1 was actually really good. After season five, it became unwatchable because of the boring characters, and they only focused on those characters.

@@q.barclay8562 Those and many other things are all fantastic, but ask most people why they're fantastic and you'll likely get shallow skin-deep answers. The true nuances of quality are often difficult to understand for the layman.

Even Breaking bad had plenty of humor within just about every main character but especially in Saul Goodman as he was the comedy relief for the show.

Isn't it funny how the Walking Dead started way before Breaking Bad and Breaking Bad ended before The Walking Dead. It's on its fourth season of Better Call Saul and I'm sure that's going to end soon too LOL but The Walking Dead has no end in sight! I just want to see the last three episodes that's it.

This should have ended around season 5. They should have introduced the Negan story back then and then figure out how to tie a nice bow around it. Then this show could have been legendary. It was at first but then it just started to drag on. It's almost a chore to watch now.

Well if they wanted to milk it they pushed themselves into a corner, there's a reason the corpses and logo keep getting more dirty and rotted. I think of the reasons it isn't as interesting is because the zombies feel like nothing, first 3 seasons they were more or less a threat now they just exist

Even The Last of Us had moments of levity despite being set in a worse apocalypse even further in the future, which arguably would’ve made it worse

But, the last of us had an end in sight and the writers wanted to say something with the story. I think the story was beautiful within a dark apocalyptic setting.

I am a Walking Dead fan, but this was a great video! I think you nailed the main problems perfectly. I actually skipped most of S7 because I knew it was going to be nothing but filler and the Saviors tormenting Rick's group with no comeuppance. It drags things out only for a cheap swerve "Beth's death comes to mind". The only thing I disagree with is the "Glenn is shallow" part. Glenn is anything but shallow. He was one of the only few humble characters that actually displayed more positive traits than the rest. He was funny "Hey dumbass" and relatable. Not to mention, he's one of the few well done Asian characters I've ever seen that is not a stereotype. Another major gripe with the show is how it wastes many good potential plots. Like Alexandrea could have been a positive turning point for the characters showing that there is still good in this world. Instead it was "nope, they are just to stupid to live." Great video. You should talk about the problems Gotham has.

I'll concede that Glenn was interesting in the first season; his first appearance is quite good and leaves an impression. But I feel like as the series went on he was never given anything to work with other than loving Maggie, which is nice, but not that interesting.

Show was pretty good until they left the Prison, afterwards it really became an exercice in pointless plotlines, rethreads , villains of the season reruns and constantly killing beloved characters for shock value, then failing to introducing new characters that people care about. Perfect example of a show that's still making money so it keeps getting renewed even though the writing keeps getting worse.

TWD was an AWESOME show, truly some of the best to ever hit the small screens. But that ended somewhere after season 2, which was and still is the best season, by FAR.

I always felt like the storylines were repeating and the show runners just pull out these new episodes out of their asses without even thinking of a good plot or drama like it used to be. Because in the first few seasons when a character died it was unexpected and it was devastating and now no one cares

Lost never got as low as TWD and TWD was never as ambitious as Lost to begin with. Lost faced difficulties with more restrictive formats during the last three seasons and made a radical choice in season 6 to wrap up at least the spiritual side of the story. It was a controversial move, and probably rightly so, but it made some sense and was also ambitious. All remaining ambition has now forsaken TWD.

Nice metaphor at the end. It feels nice listeing to someone facing this subject. Same here. Loved the first season but then I barely made it to the prison(don't know what season) after I didn't watch for 1 - 3 years after the farm, where the kid is getting an OP of some kind...? God. The writing really is unbelievably bad. Worst character for me was Andrea. She had something like a "suicidal phase" or something like that, that took the cake for me. But she was behaving SO unrealistic and stupid it made me aggressive and I had the constant urge to throw the remote control at the screen.

That perfectly characterized my problems with the show. While I enjoyed seasons 1-5, I would notice that nothing of substance would happen unless it was a premiere or a finale, and usually it was just a character death or something. I did enjoy the Negan introduction, but unfortunately that was the only interesting moment for that character and that was when I gave it up.

Holy crap, there is nothing I disagree with, I tried to watch it twice and can never finish S2 or maybe like 2 episodes into S3. The show is almost a complete counter to how humans would try to go on realistically and I think it greatly exaggerates the threat of their zombies. Ive seen more of the show watching an episode or a part of one at a friends here and there and I cant find a single part that has even made me consider trying to watch it again. Edit, Also seens plenty of analysis/reviews of it as well, so I am fairly informed on the show is my point.

It's unfortunate that these days TV shows that start out great don't end great because the studios main focus is making money. Although that's understandable, it's easy for the story to get lost when studios think that way. Breaking Bad did it right. They didn't overstay their welcome. They had a vision for the beginning & end and it became a legendary show. It's the only TV show that I can say I've watched at least 7 times all the way through.❤👍🏾

I agree with all the criticism but I generally watch it just because Sunday is kind of a slow TV night. Usually by 9pm I’ve seen enough football for the day. If these were 10-12 episodes per season I think the story wouldn’t be as boring as it sometimes can is.

Thanks for the great video! It's crazy. i feel the same about most of the stuff. But I also kept watching, waiting for good things to happen. It has entertaining moments (an I am not in for the blod and gore), but it just isn't enough. I really cannot say, why I am still watching and maybe I'll stop and won't watch the new season.

Being an avid TWD fan myself, I think this analogy describes my appreciation for it pretty well. The Walking Dead is like crappy chinese food. I can't honestly say that it's high quality, but I like it anyways.

I think most people watching it now are still watching it cause they came so far. They wouldn't want to stop watching it after 6 whole seasons of sticking with it. I always said this, about this show and game of thrones but ohh now you all thought they were amazing!! I thought from the start, the biggest selling points of these two shows are sex, violence, in walking dead's case, mostly explicit violence, but both having unexpected characters killed off so it keeps people drawn into it seeing where its going to go next. I kept thinking, this tactic can only run for so long until people wise upto it and eventually loose interest. Now that time has came, all the sex and horrible deaths is wearing thin, and now that the writers of GoT especially have ran out of material to adapt from the novels in their refreshing way, they dont know where to go with it. Im glad i didnt follow suit and watch these shows, they're just modern Tv soaps using popular genres of our time, and while theres nothing wrong in that, its still at end of the day a "Tv soap" to me. Tbh the main thing that actually put me off was all the hype and talk of these two respected shows in the first place, when they hadnt long started off. my bro and sister constantly talking about them, i watched 1st episode of GoT and could see exactly what it was about from the start, soap, i could see that core element cleverly disguised under all that lord of the rings fantasy. My brother himself a big lotr fan even admitted he doesnt think its all that great, just trying to be a more realistic opposite take on the lord of the rings fantasy, but he just watches it because of the soapy structure that he said he was addicted to. There it was!! i thought, thats it that is the main reason why the mainstream love it, but i just dont like "soapy" tv series. i like them to go somewhere different with things each episode and not all this is so-and-so going to killing or cheat on so-and-so? I still watch star trek nex gen, "TNG" tv series, thats not soapy, it follows a group of characters, they become like a family, some of them do have "relationships" throughout the course of that tv series, but the main focus is not that. Theres a "substance" to it. But thats just me.

TWD doesn't have a problem with being too dark or serious. If anything the best seasons 3-5 were the darkest. It started going downhill because every compelling character or relationship was lost.

The first season is a little shaky at first because it was a brand new show and it had no source material like the main show. But yes fear is better. The writing is good and they don't kill characters for shock value like in the main show.

While I mostly agree, I did find the way they killed off Travis kind of jarring. Other than that, though, the show has a much better track record when it comes to not killing off characters for cheap thrills and generally has fresher subplots.

Yea that is true about Travis. I don't think it was killing him that was bad, i just didn't like its placement in the episode. How he was kid before the opening credits. But it was necessary for him to die because A, I felt he didn't have much story left to tell. And B, they were trying to open the show up for Madison to be the lead.

I'd kind of agree up until FTWD Season 4. Season 3 was possibly the best season of either series and FTWD S4 may very well be the worst... they just botched it sooooo badly imo. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at this point unfortunately.
