But we’ve lost the great writers and producers and l should add those who had chosen the right people for their characters to play . ❤😢! I hope they find their way back to good healthy family oriented shows again . We so desperately need to with all the craziness going on around us right now. How nice of Miss Wellman to share her time and stories! I always enjoyed the comic moments and sweetness Sissy's character added to The Walton's ~ especially dealing with Yancy! You'd have to be special to deal with all Yancy's farmyard pets in the house! I'm impressed, Judy, that you auditioned for Gamma Rays ( a stunning play!). What wonderful stories! Cissy's father was sometimes called "Wild Bill Wellman" stemming from his days as an ambulance driver and WWI fighter pilot. I would love to hear more about her experiences when they made Good-Bye, My Lady. Such a heartwarming and realistic movie, with Brandon deWilde, Walter Brennan, Sidney Poitier and Phil Harris, and a lot like The Waltons in its depiction of life in the country.

The reservoir at Franklin Canyon might elicit some familiar sections - same with Frazier Park, but I wouldn’t know where to direct you there as we were always transported so I never paid attention to the directions.

I have wondered what happened to her character as she kind of disappeared without explanation somewhere in series 8 or 9 I think ... anyways, so wonderful to hear her family history and Walton memories. Dear Judy, Thanks for sharing this interview with Cissy Wellman. I've always wondered about Robert Donner's work on Lassie. I understand he was in quite a few episodes of Lassie. I also wonder if Cissy was on Little House. I think Kent McCray was a producer on that show. John Payne was in the original "Miracle on 34th Street" along with Natalie Wood, Maureen O'Hara, Edmund Gwenn, and (believe it or not) William Frawley, aka Fred Mertz, not to mention many other famous actors. I remember two great episodes Cissy was in on "The Waltons, "The Chicken Thief", and "The First Casualty". Yancy was quite a character, and Robert Donner played him well. Cissy, I enjoy your work on The Waltons. I hope you and yours are doing well. Thanks again, Judy.

It’s great that Ms. Wellman is also open to sharing with you here, Judy ~ and with us. Speaking of kind, good people, a friend of mine who knew the kids of Joel & Frances McCrea always said Joel & Frances were some of the kindest, most warm people ever. This was in the 80’s long past the height of your godfather’s or godparents’ fame, Ms. Wellman. So there wasn’t that quotient affecting the impression. -Just want you to know how well & how long people regard exceptional qualities of people you love ~ your extended family. I also knew one of the men who flew one of the four(?) planes in the Dogfight scenes of your Dad’s movie, Wings. He was a Character (Francis “Fitz” Fitzgerald) & a great grandfather when he told me his stories of the movie, but I trust he was telling the truth. He said he had a ball and, typical pilot, the natural dangers weren’t as important to him as the chance to help your father capture realistic aspects of flight. (I know those scenes were new to movies then.) Ms Wellman, aside from not intending to be an actor, Cissy Walker was a great Character and the perfect spice to corral Yancy Tucker. You two were a funny & unpredictable pair in the best ways on The Waltons. I hope to hear more about the nonprofit I just read you started & sustained for people with developmental challenges. That devotion is greatly needed and warms my heart. When you speak of good people, I’m sure countless people have learned through decades you are included. Thank you, Ms. Cissy & Ms. Judy!
