Since 2009, the militant Islamist group known as Boko Haram has wreaked havoc in northern Nigeria. Instilling terror through bombings, abductions, and beheadings, Boko Haram is fighting to create an Islamic state in the most populous country in Africa.
VICE News traveled to Nigeria where the country's army has ramped up its fight against Boko Haram, whose rise has caused a state of emergency. As the only journalists on the front line in northern Nigeria, we witnessed the beginning of the largest military insurgency to date.
In the final part of this three part series, VICE News correspondent Kaj Larsen embeds with the Nigerian army on their assault on Bama, one of the last Boko Haram strongholds, as well as joining a fully operational air wing supplied by private military contractors assisting in the fight against the militant group.
Kay Larsen discusses Boko Haram on The Young Turks: • The War Against Boko H...

Honestly, Nigerians have to be some of the most dedicated fighters I have ever seen. I don't know the name of the village but in the year 2000 1st Para of the British Army found a platoon of Nigerian peacekeepers there after 6 months of being forgotten about by the UN. They had been living off the village's people and only a few still presented themselves like proper infantrymen. Even after 1st Para left Sierra Leone the Nigerians stayed and fought on. There's a video by the front that explains it much better Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioachXqep7ahecU

If you payed attention to the video you would have heard that they were shelling the Boko Haram stronghold that was 13 miles away. You can search Kaj Larsen on KZbin and you can find videos of him talking about his time in the SEALS. By the way, gun shy is not the term you're looking for.

Dean Wynn BH has suffered massive casualties this year and they are probably getting desperate and psychotic. At this point they will probably attack civilians just for the hell of it, they have nothing to lose anymore. Their organization has been destroyed by the nigerian military, who is suffering nearly 0 losses each battle, while hundreds of boko haram die in every assault.
