Hey, new sub here. I like how quirky you are. I also admire and absorb your knowledge. I used to hunt when I was young, then life got busy but I still collected. Now, I am very ill but I want to get our and gather again. I can't cut or polish anymore, not strong enough. However, I used to do wire wrapping and I was a major player in the antique, ancient and artifact bead scene. I still have all my equipment and a fair amount of supplies. I just started watching hounds after finding The Trek Planner. He doesn't collect from where he treks but it reminded me of years enjoying this beautiful planet and I got sad because it is limited to me now. So, I will go walk Indiana Dunes and at my lake and see if I can prove I still have it. I want to make a few boxes of rocks to share with the kind people of the hounding group to thank them, and you, for sharing. Peace from an old Nana.

Thank you for taking us on a hounding adventure! There are so many that wish we could be out looking for rocks right now, but the weather is too cold! You found a lot of really gorgeous rocks! I cant wait to see you cut and do something with a lot of the beauties you found. The various colors of the same material in that area is amazing. But the Green is always going to be one of my favorite rocks to find! Thank you for the lovely adventure, and the sunshine was really beautiful. This was an awesome quest! Thanks Nate!

I just saw the big green rock is a fish or lizard, ther are carvings on rocks , especially around here , very tiny, they sit and write stories or maps, sometimes they have treasure maps on those rocks , the grooves can be the form of a mountain around 😊

Im guessing you're near Putah Creek. I live in the East Bay, and I used to think Putah, Berryessa area was a dead zone, meaning I never found anything substantial. Until I discovered an area near Knoxville. After getting a few years of experience you really gain a keen eye for the best of the best. These areas are full of some of the best mineralization I've come across between Winters and Clear Lake. I'm not going to give away my spots impartial in this comment section but I'm sure you know. I've been watching your channel for a few years and we hunt many of the same areas. I also love the blues and green chert. It's beautiful. I've found some amazing pieces more on the jasper side. I enjoy your videos. If you reach out, I'd be more than happy to share a couple of my spots with you. Happy mineral hunting.

My home sits atop of the last big dump of stone and dirt from the Wisconsin Glacier. It created the huge hill I live on over a hundred and thirty thousand years ago. I can just imagine what all hides under the thin layer of clay then soil from a hardwood forest. I wish I had given birth to sons along with my olny child, a daughter. Perhaps I could have infected them with the wonder of this beautiful blue marble and they would want to dig deep into the wall that was made by ice that waits underfoot.

Are you talking about Humboldt co. California? My grandfather was a rockhound. He was president of the Gem and Mineral Society in Humboldt co. in the 50's and 60's I think. He had a large collection that he lost in the 64 flood. My Dad was walking along the Eel river after that flood and found about 50 arrowheads laying in the gravel. There were some that were obsidian.

I just movee from Auburn in Placer County to Oroville. I am a total newbie and would appreciate any advice you could offer as to where to start looking for crystals? Every local tells me " they're everywhere!" But i have yet to see any. In fact, the only quartz veins ive seen are on the sides of the mountain crumbling into the lake and are inaccesible. What stones should i be looking for along the feather river below the dam? Any tips are very appreciated
