That's the thing with 4chan, they don't act rationally, people think (like in the video) that they encouraging a shooter was a thought/rational comment, people see it like that because they know that the shooter ended up actually commiting the crime, some people see those threads and try suggesting ideas to call for bluffs, others can be throwing ideas as a joke (like if it was a videogame) while some may actually be real meaningful suggestions for a real shooter People forget that there are psychological and mental spectrums, it isn't as black or white, we only see it that way after the fact, because something actually happened. For example in the video there were no examples of people saying they would do something and actually not "delivering" as they say. Those of course don't get the same attention because they didn't happen. Now, this isn't to deny the fact that the crimes committed were atrocious, because they were and many more that weren't shown in here (like killers dropping gps coordinates where bodies were recently buried), but it's more about to shine some light in the bias we have when we come to this issues and how we identify/deal with mental health issues as a society/audience.

Because, as said in the video, we have to comply with certain social norms when our identities are known in real life, and we cannot raise our voices in real life about the issues we passionately defend when we are anonymous. Being accepted by people and feeling the need to be a part of society is an important factor in this regard.

@@Sillimant_ He was wrong on a lot in this video. He even said Bianca met Brandon on 4chan - which seems to be wrong. As far i researched he met him on Instagram. But because the narrative was ''4chan is bad'' , he simply went with ''she met her on 4chan'' ... ''where she met a lot of old guys, who searched for young innocent girls'' ... framing a 21 year old, who is barely 3,5 year older than her as ''much older guys who are in search for that young innocent girls'' is a stretch. But it fits his narrative, he wanted to create, so that the viewers can be disgusted by all that 4chan-stuff. Also he made it look like in the video as if Bianca met him the first time on the concert - which is also plain wrong. She already knew him real life since around 6 months if not longer. He wanted more - but she put him into friendzone and rejected him. As you already said it: the Devins case is much more complex. And everything i wrote here are just very few examples where he was wrong. I could go on forever. Irony is: a lot of people in the comment section write him, how ''quality'' his video is. In my opinion its one of the worst quality i ever saw on that topic.

Cyber bullying is a interesting topic because in 99% of all cases the child should have never been allowed on the internet in the first place. If you are underage you should not be allowed on the internet, ofcourse you can play games but all things that can lead to bullying can be disabled easily. To many times has it been started by the person that is getting bullied right now, but they never look at how it started just how it ended. This is the same for girls or females getting harassed on the internet, a small percentage is real while the rest asks for attention everywhere they go.

99% of 4chan are dyels who are harmless. Most of them use it like reddit. Everytime ive visted the random board about once a year for the past 6 years there are posts about eating andy bearsacks shit dude. Its one big meme. Whats funny is the complete juxtaposition of different board cultures. Biz, lit, and the other niche intrest boards have some actual good shit on them. R9k has gone way down hill, not that it was ever good, but it promotes a loser mentality, while fitness is exactly the opposite. I transitioned from r9k to fit when i was around 17 and it actually made a huge positive impact on my life. Without fit, i would not be who i am today at all. The humor might not be for you, sure, but there are people who joke about the same shit you probably know of, dave chapelle for example. Even key and peele make nazi/ hitler jokes. At the same time though, 4chan has pretty much pioneered every meme you see now. Mewing, jelqing, looks maxing? That was shit i joked about with my friends 5 years ago in highschool. Same with a bunch of other things that i forget at the moment, but atleast once a year a mainstream meme is dirived from 4chan. There are three types of people in the world: Those who want to make themselves happy no matter what. Those who want to make others happy to find happiness. Those who want to make others suffer to bring them to their level. From my perspective (as an old 4chan user), it's important to respect and understand where you stand. You might find yourself doing something just for fun, but it's like the butterfly effect, where the small things you do can make someone else suffer. Trolls, in general, have a similar mindset. It starts small, like printing false documents of a missing person who isn't actually missing, and it grows to the point of making people believe they are dead. Also, the idea of anonymity and not being known makes people feel safer. It allows me to talk about my mental health without anyone knowing who I am. Conversations with others don't involve judgments based on skin color, beliefs, or occupation. Whether I'm talking to a white, Asian, Arab, or anyone, I only get vibes from what they say, not anything else.

This video has very high production value for a channel as small as yours, the editing and audio quality is all very clean. But it's kinda obvious that you are not a part of the 4chan community and don't entirely understand everything that you're talking about. In your future videos I'd recommend doing more research and spending more time in the communities that you're talking about, especially if it's one like 4chan that's very important to internet culture, and where there is no barrier of entry (you don't even need to make an account, so it's super easy to lurk for a while). For a video that's seemingly about 4chan as a whole, the video focuses entirely on /b/ without doing much to acknowledge the rest of the site. /b/ isn't all that 4chan is, and talking only about /b/ in a video that's about the site as a whole misrepresents the site. It also is a bit of a misrepresentation to focus only on a series of events that happened years apart from one another as if that's all that the site does. For a video that introduces its viewers to 4chan, it gives the impression that everyone on the site is a dangerous hacker bent on ruining people's lives, and that everyone on there is coordinated when most people are just there to post what they think is funny. Either that or porn. The site doesn't have "no rules", it's just not overly moderated. There are a lot less rules there than on most other sites, but there are rules in place that are enforced. 4chan isn't exactly the seedy underworld of the internet like this video portrays, the site definitely has its moments of depravity, but it's a lot more than that. I want to see you succeed, and I hope you don't read my comment thinking I dislike you as a person or anything, I just want to suggest ways that you can improve and better represent the topics you discuss. Good luck in your future videos!

But keep in mind *you are* the risk to see those trauma gore pictures. so…..be careful…. but hey! Mini touhou characters was created there too! And bad apple was created too! Even backrooms! Because it is crazy, just because there is some good to the site doesn't mean the bad things should be ignored.
@PB-ie8cj2 жыл бұрын
@@rise.-mikey I don't think ignoring the past was the idea. It's was more like acknowledging it is the past. Did you hear how the video often implied (and in one moment even directly said) that 4chan users are extremely smart, dangerous, dedicated and hardworking? That's kinda not really the case. The site is flooded with every kind of people precisely because of its lack of restrictions. Which means that yes, some really atrocious people are bound to be found there, but also consider that the video itself said it is one of the most visited sites nowadays. It is nowhere near the "underground" anarchist site of misfits that it was 10+ years ago. As Kaiserkrieger said, it is mostly just an internet boogeyman.

@anatolystepanovichdyatlov174710 ай бұрын
@@Kittycouture_xox Simply because all the above mentioned social media platforms are first and foremost about advertising yourself to the world, creating an artificial persona of yourself and lead people to have pathological self expectations. Dont get me started on tiktok, which is essentially volunzary spyware on a device with highly personal information and also a chinese social engineering tool. 4chan on the other hand? Mostly anonymous users discuss stuff...

4 chan is sick site. I have just visited it, and even I was shocked by some parts of it. However, 4chan can do good things. Searching for the missing malaysian plane, finding criminals, etc. Just the problem is, the bad things waaay outnumber the good things.

I remember I made a handful of 4chan posts when I was 12 and was called a "wh*re" for sharing art of a pokemon character (which wasn't even inappropriate or suggestive). I also had someone (on a separate post) tell me they wish they could prevent me from being born That's nothing compared to what the people in this video went through, who've had death threats and family members killed. I can't even imagine how much emotional pain they went through

But why is this blaming all of 4chan for this? It literally was just one guy who did it, who happened to use the site. I think it’s wrong to lump all users in with him. There are terrible evil people like this on all social media websites but we don’t lump them all together and blame the whole website. It’s like if there was a terrible person who lived in a certain city and you blame the whole coty for it.
@thezheani14342 жыл бұрын
@@Svenshine I never lumped them together or blamed 4chan, I dunno why they did. Maybe because there actually have been a lot of bad things that have happend on 4Chan or because of 4Chan, but bad things can happen on any social media. 4Chan is just less controlled, anything can be posted on there almost, without fear of it being taken down.
