On the faking illness part: I developed tics from a rare side effect of my meds. My own doctor was hesitant to believe me and I had to see another psychiatrist + neurologist just for him to believe they were real due to the amount of kids faking them. They're fucking up my life and it's infuriating to see people make cutesy "tics."

People faked having autism, (I’m autistic btw) they made videos of stimming together (stimming is a minor movement we do to cope with noise usually). People don’t stim fr just to seem QuIrKy. It’s a natural response and those dumbos were making their bodies have seizures just to say they’re ‘stimming’ Also people don’t stim together that’s just weird.

Here's my experience: I used to be on TikTok before I quit it on the spot a year and a half ago. Not only it was addicting, but it was also terrible for my mental health as it made me mentally unstable. I was stressed as heck over all the content that has been thrown at me. And the addiction did not help with anything at all. There were communities I was interested in but I couldn't care anymore than I did at the start. The fun that I had was only temporary. It may be just me, but I am glad I made my decision to turn away from TikTok and never get back to it again.

The things it did to my mind and life are hard to explain, and seeing people fake stuff that goes past even the real disabilities is inexcusable. I too am an autistic person. When I was a child, I really got deeper with watching from Disney movies repetitively, I got so aware of love and pure kindness and wholesome friendships. I was so dedicated to make friends and I've been rejected a lot. It's true that I was in a mindset of a similar of a Price with a Princess, both misguided, as I observed. It's true that the people from Disney movies are willingly accepting. I will consider Prince Hans from Frozen as one thing true compared to reality. I understand that "It's just one person" thing, but it provides Hans as the prime example. Being rejected a lot had made me want to give up on humanity in person, which makes me lose focus on what I want and need to do. I really observed that the entertainment the children had watched has caused them to be misguided. I realize that both too much lightness and too much darkness are bad for those children. Watching Samurai Jack, Episode LII makes me see that children are mentally coded to choose their own destined purpose based on what they see or hear. Anything whimsical can affect what they're destined for.

While self diagnosis can be mostly valid if done correctly, we shouldn’t take every single one as objective truth. Tik Tok and Reddit are greatly cautionary tales on that. Autism is becoming a joke in many ways and communities have become hostile even towards the actually autistic. Nowhere else have I been called a neon@zo for saying I’ve been diagnosed with Asperger’s or bullied by the supposedly autistic for thinking of my condition as a disability.

Not even 13 year olds. In my experience, reaching back as far as when TikTok was Musically, it grips kids and becomes popular around fifth grade. Fifth grade! Those kids are 10-11 years old, and every single one of my siblings without fail have gotten obsessed with it at that age. My middle sibling who's now 14 is thanking us for restricting TikTok on her devices so she didn't get addicted to it. She hated me for it at the time, but these kids have no idea what effect it has on them. My youngest sibling who's almost 12 snuck on it, and now her and all her friends are suicidal and harming themselves. Kids of that age shouldn't even know what suicide and self harm are. I'm not saying there aren't other underlying things going on with her, but TikTok is DEFINITELY a catalyst.

(Bottom shows that it can be good too) Me and my one friend stand the ONLY PEOPLE in the grade to absolutely NOT use the app, Not even talk about it, and spread awareness about bank info, however, although I made the bank info part, I never realized the major danger it resides with/without, of course they would make fun of us for not having the app, making up bad things because "our parents do not let us use the app," or studying something that is just propaganda to not use the app, and in the early months of this year, I gave up; searching for more valid sources to make sure they dont do the dangerous challenges that lead someone to almost die, of course I would only warn and not pressure to stop since I feel like im in a losing battle, oh and the female ones... simply like the others, REVEAL THEIR MINOR FACES TO THE PUBLIC JUST FOR SOME STINKIN DANCE!!! these dances of minors doing so will just lead to disappearences! Do their parents know or care about this? Are they ignorant? But hey, its just a theory, an App Theory! And of course there is no bad without good and no light without darkness. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. something i always have thought about is the "faking disorders" its so messed up to see people make things up so people who actually have the disorder get hate for also being "fake". the most i hear chatter about is autism, tourrets, anxiety ect but the one i see the most but not as many people talk about the so overwhelming amout of "ADHD" creators (this also leans to the other disorders) who do these "day in the life" or "what its like" and stuff, most of it is pretty harmless but i get so annoyed when people do some sh!t that literally everyone does and calls it "adhd". my little brother suffers from adhd and is so annoying for both him and me to see these people go around saying things that have nothing to do which makes people believe that the disorder isnt even a big of a deal and start saying "oh, i must have depression, anxiety, adhd, add, autism, tourret syndrome" and when you ask them why they say "because of a video made by a 11 year old about "signs you might have depression, anxiety, adhd, add, autism, tourret syndrome." i had the first, it was "ask yourself if you could touch the roof"" no, that is not what it is about, people going around spreading false rumors about disorders is so bad. just because you listen to mitski doesnt mean you are depressed, if you shake your leg you dont have adhd, and so on. REAL people suffer REAL disorders and people want so many compliments just because they said they were diagnosed. its messed up...

It's honestly disgusting how there are so many preds on TikTok. But what infuriates me more, are the trends around faked illnesses. My having ASD, put me in so many averse situations growing up, that have left me traumatized; forever insecure about finding friends, getting into relationships, trusting authority figures! I can't talk to a girl I like, without internally shrinking into my soul. I can't keep a solid friend group, cause I'm almost always an orbiter in conversations. I was nearly unable to acquire a basic, shitty job! ... But now, I guess neurotypicals can pretend to go through my struggles. The same neurotype of people who've made my life a _living Hell,_ wants to mock my condition and the conditions of others... And almost nothing is done about it.

It's funny because being ill, mentally or physically, in real life doesn't make people any nicer to you. In fact I venture to say people treat you worse. I find it fascinating the dichotomy there. Irl illness makes you a pariah a lot of the time. People don't like you. You're boring. Online illness makes you exotic and con and interesting and everyone wants to protect you. Maybe these are people who have the actual illness who have been ignored, not believed, told they're faking, and ostracized realized online they could get the support the lacked irl. So they exaggerated their symptoms or even fabricated them so they could feel seen, heard and cared for in ways they don't get irl. I strongly believe that the lack of care irl drives these young people to do whatever they can for attention. It's been happening as long as neglectful/abusive parents have existed. These 2 things are related. Society outcasts people who are different. So if you don't have support at home or with peers one might be driven to find sorry, validation, relationships in whatever way they can. Before TikTok it was other things. Other social medias. Other irl actions that got them noticed. That's what young people do. They're developing mentally still. They can't comprehend the consequences of their actions because their brains prefrontal cortex is still tiny. It's not done cooking until their mid 20s. I don't condone faking illness. That's not ok. With that said, teens do dumb stuff. That's just the gig for them. I'm not into TikTok. I'm not young. I was young before TikTok existed. Myspace and AOL was my online experience. Livejournal. Whoa forgot about that one damn. Anyway it was never fashionable to mentally or physically ill when I was young. I got bullied for being ill. Online and IRL. Mostly by kids from irl finding me online to harass me endlessly. So I'm totally against the entire thing. But even then kids faked illness irl. I knew multiple boys and girls that faked illness. It was funny to them. They couldn't possibly have understood how awful what they were doing was . Because kids are dumb af

I have ADHD, Anxiety, Paranoia, Asperger Syndrome, and clinical depression. I'm always baffled at why people fake these mental disorders. There's literally nothing fun about having them, and there are no advantages to having them either. The fact that people have been, and are faking these for clicks is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen.

People who fake these mental illnesses are attempting to take advantage of the sympathy of others; so essentially, they want attention. As someone who's been officially diagnosed with 4 mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD) and might have more- which I'm looking to get tested for- it's REALLY frustrating to see this shįt. It's not fvcking fun to live with them, and it's definitely not an 'aesthetic' thing. If I could give my mental illnesses to the fakers, I would. If they want it so badly, then they can have it.

I remember when I was in school, and TikTok was relatively new. My classmates would not stop making TikToks of dumb dances IN CLASS and during lunch. They would try the renegade and shit like that, and here I am rolling my eyes at them. Like, you couldn't wait until after school to do your dumbass dance? I hate TikTok with a passion. I never knew why it was so popular. Same with SnapChat. Just send a photo that you see and it disappears after you open it. The stupidest concept in my opinion. The 'challenges' I see are also really dumb and dangerous. Stealing things from the school bathrooms? Taking a g*n to school? faking diseases for clout and attention? They seem like they have no life to me. Here I am, off most social media (Rarely I post on Insta anymore- I don't get any attention for what I post anyways) with a job and earning money. I could care less about making videos for attention from random idiots on the internet.

I have a sister in law who possibly has ADHD, and sadly she's very into tik-tok (she's a minor) and especially ADHD tik tok...and I'm definitely going to warn her to be careful from taking advice on there, because people can and do fake the disorder, and TikTok isn't fully reliable when it comes to finding information about ADHD; or that isn't where she should be researching info on it anyways. Thanks for bringing light to this. I'd like to think people will grow up and stop faking conditions but...I doubt it.

I was diagnosed with tourette syndrome at 12, and my tics have only gotten worse with age. Fortunately, my few verbal tics are barely noticeable to others and my physical tics are the ones that are the worst for me. It's incredibly painful, especially when I get stressed and anxious and tics get worse. It's why I don't use facecam, because being on camera if I'm not doing something that actively distracts my brain such as singing, makes my tics worse. It's really awful that there are people out there who try to pretend they have TS, because any of us with TS will tell you how much it actually sucks. There's a lot of things that happen as a result of our disorder that we do cherish, such as a lot of us having more creativity or really passionate hobbies, because we need to keep our brain occupied, that we're glad we have, but if we could calm down or stop our tics, we'd probably stop them because it's just not easy to live with. I understand people wanting the clout, but pretending to have TS is not the way to get it. It's not even about spreading awareness. It's about exploitation.
