Ok I’m gonna give my takes on your issues. Yes the liar reveal trope sucks 90% of the time it’s used, but I love how this movies uses it. You can fully understand where both Roz and Brightbill are coming from. Most movies would have one side act completely irrational and do it so late that it feels more like a reason for the characters to split rather than a genuine reason. It’s totally understandable for Brightbill to get upset for not being told about his birth mother being killed. Roz was told by Fink that she shouldn’t go around saying that his family was killed. Roz was still learning how to be a parent, so she thought it was the right thing to do out of naivety rather than selfishness. Plus Brightbill’s whole arc is about learning how without Roz he wouldn’t have survived this long. Which makes their reunion very heartwarming. Seeing how much they needed each other. About the other plot points. These are plot points that happen in the book. It’s entirely necessary plot point for the first book. Yeah Vontra is introduced extremely late, but the villains arrive really late into the book as well. So I don’t mind Vontra’s late inclusion.
@Stew9121 күн бұрын
Not to mention that Roz's level of emotion (being a robot) hadn't progressed to human levels yet during this time. So it makes sense that she didn't consider how much this could affect Brightbill when he finds out.
@gavinarbogast846721 күн бұрын
@@Stew91 exactly. Thanks for adding that.
@danishdiana10221 күн бұрын
Ok, I am saying this as someone who loves the wild robot and thinks it’s one of the best movies of all time, and someone who agrees with the liar reveal part being done well, your last point about the villains isn’t very good, like it may be true that they weren’t introduced until the end in the books as well, but that doesn’t change the fact that they were still introduced late in the story and therefore couldn’t get the proper time to be development well, that is a valid criticism that shouldn’t be swept under the rug just because “this other thing did it as well”
@gavinarbogast846721 күн бұрын
@@danishdiana102 true. Just because it doesn’t bother me doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be a valid criticism. I’ll admit it was my weakest point. I mean for the little time Vontra had she was pretty decent.

To be honest people can't always feel emotional over the same things. While some may cry over a movie, some won't, and it depends on what specifically the movie is about. So don't feel bad that the movie delivered that crying aspect you were hoping for, other movies may help you with that.

@berniedelacruz410520 күн бұрын
I think what makes that scene (where Brightbill finally left) very emotional to some people is that they really relate to it, for me as an adult leaving home was the toughest decision I had to make, and seeing Roz as the parent and training Brightbill until he's an adult and ready to go on with his life is just rewarding as a parent, at the same time it's sad because you're son/daughter is leaving. Raising a kid, seeing them grow and leave their nest is heart warm yet heart breaking

For example the old goose character had a bit of a sudden introduction so I didn't care much when he died, especially with how obvious it was that it would happen. But other than that the good parts of the movie had enough of an impact for me to love it, and I'll always respect it for the beautiful animation and story that's not a sequel

What I think does kinda work is the fact that they never really fully talked about what happened after the reveal. That is what really got to me and he stopped calling her mom. It wasn’t until he found out later what would have happend to him if it didn’t happen and if Roz didn’t raise him that he really appreciated what she did for him. Leading to when he talks to Roz later when it seems like she’s lost for good. Beautiful movie and definitely the best Dreamworks movie since Puss in boots the last wish

I'm actually inclined to agree. I find this movie to be terribly unmemorable in regards to its plot and characters, it's all serviceable at best. In the beginning I was actually put off by how loud and obnoxious everything was, but once I set my expectations that this was a Dreamworks film and not a Ghibli film I ended up enjoying the second half a lot more. I still like this film but it's absolutely no masterpiece and it's one of the worst cases of recency bias I've ever seen. Not a bad film, but EXTREMELY overrated imo.

I'm gonna sound pedantic and nerdy here but I think you focused way too much on Brightbill in the migration sequence. Yes, technically it is about Brightbill leaving, but plot-wise, it's about Roz, who had the majority of screen time to see how much she has grown out of her own programming, how attached she had come to Brightbill. The moment Brightbill took flight, it completed Roz's task, but she wasn't ready to let go of Brightbill just yet . So all in all, the entire migration scene is about Roz learning to let go someone she loves while also doing so.

During 2020 I realised if I was still with my birth family I wouldn’t be where I am today..first birth family to go to university throughout the years my mum would support me in so many ways….like computer for my studies during secondary….that was one off thing. If I was in the other family I probably wouldn’t know how to read or even afford anything. Also I use to be conflicted who my mother was but my birth mum died when I was 18…hitch made things clearer my adopted mum IS my mum just long way getting round to her. Best quote long neck ‘brightbill wasn’t meant to get this far but now he has a chance yiu know that’. ‘The accident killed your family saved you’.
