This packaging reminds me of how much efforts companies used to put into these things. I remember getting a copy of Windows 8 back in the day and was disappointed at how it was just a white box with some text and minimal paperwork inside along with the disc. I know producing paper manuals and other things like that is probably considered wasteful, but they didn't have to get rid of creative packaging design as well!

Windows XP being 20 years old makes me feel old haha. It was a part of my childhood. A bunch of firsts for me was on XP, first time playing computer games, first time on the web with Firefox, downloading Windows Updates, downloading and playing flash games online, and more. It's my first time seeing what the other content of the box are (since legit copies of XP are very rare where I live and cracked copies of XP Pro sell for about $2 per disc were common) and damn did they double down on the words with "xp" on the box and marketing with "experience" and "explore".

Did you know that Windows XP is still one of the most used OSs in a ton of different areas? Many computers used in military positions continue to use XP because not only is it an incredibly reliable OS (even though the copies used are heavily modified to suit the military's needs and to fix security issues), but it is also almost always cheaper to continue to use it rather than upgrading to a newer version!

A fun fact about Windows XP SP2 is Microsoft offered the service pack as a free CD in the post here in the UK (as obviously a lot of Internet connections were still far too slow to download it), I somehow ended up ordering over 300 CDs and they all turned up at once in the post, don't think the postman was best pleased! I then sold them for a couple of pounds on eBay and ended up making a couple of hundred pounds in the end which was huge for me as a 13-14 year old at the time!

This is the perfect OS aesthetics to me. That blue and green looks so organic and clean. 10/11 just looks sterile and boring in comparison, like the OS itself is dead. Why can’t they add a 9X or XP theme to 10/11?! Seriously, they would get so much good will if they did that.

I installed windows xp and I do remember finding it nice when a service pack might update basic drivers so I could hear the oobe music. I had varying difficulty from audigy cards and drivers working out of the box. Sometimes even a video card would be caught up for a little while too. I remember slipstreaming raid drivers into my windows xp cd's when I would take the time to get updates in there as well. I didn't have much success with the audio drivers. However with windows 10, I have wondered about will I eventually run into a situation with cortana not being able to detect my microphone during the setup. I am not sure if windows 11 has the audio setup feature, but that is the best and only time I use cortana, to setup windows and I like it. I even enjoyed the windows xp tour. I remember running it to see how smooth it ran on newer systems compared to when I first ran it on slower systems where it may not have felt as smooth in all the animations. Sure it never really got much better, but I ran large monitors with large resolutions and I remember it not being the smoothest experience at first.
