Yeahh if somehow I had come upon this ending for the first time through (or a second time if I got the "Normal" ending first) I'd be too busy rooting for the Legless Viola to rip my character apart like she deserves instead of trying to run (especially since that chase sequence is kind of a pain in the ass). As far as I care, easily the happiest ending you can get in this game is a "Game Over" screen. :P

Secret ending; don't leave the flower garden at the start of the game. Wait there without entering the house for one real life hour. The moment the hour passes, the wall of flowers dies and you can leave without ever having to enter the mansion. Like she said in the diary, she sawed her legs off and tore out her eyes before she swapped bodies, her body is bleeding to death even if the magic is sustaining her life. Wait an hour and she dies from the injuries without being able to do anything to "Viola", the flower wall dying with her.

I thought Ellen was a girl who was sick and had no legs, so she couldn't live a normal life. But turns out she did that so Viola would die... And of course you couldn't trust the cat... the problem that everyone doesn't understand about this is that the fact that YOU are playing as an unknown person by the name of Viola (in this case the BODY of) and playing thinking you're getting chased by the witch, and to die like all the body's in the Chef's basement (or meat locker) if caught. All at the end, to find out it's actually REVERSED! Magic involved for Body swapping, and needing Trust in that matter, made it a little more Overwhelming when you find out. being that... Viola... Will... never.... Get... Her... Body... Back... Damn it Ellen, i know you won't hate her for giving her body to you, but damn. one way to show you were DIEING to get out of that failing old body you've been in for Countless Decades (mainly several Centuries)

It's not only that. You're not even allowed to speak to the black cat, even if you don't save, talking to him once ruins your chances. There IS a freebie, however, before the room of distractions, if you don't read the note saying not to be distracted, you can move around in the room. There's a cat in there, who says that you can have one "free" save, meaning that you can getaway with saving on this cat. This is the only cat, however, that does this.

the whole eating soul thing is kinda, well, uncertain. while demons are said to 'eat souls' the souls still exist. one could more say that they integrate the soul into themselves to icnrease their power. and there could be logical basis for a sequel. the cat coming to collect. while he uses ellen to get more souls, ellen's soul is also something he desires.

That could simply be a clever plot device set in place by the developers. A ploy, meant to deceive, making the sequel all the more unexpected. While it's more risky, as it will net less publicity and anticipation will be low, it's certainly more dignified than a cliffhanger ending.

or another potential idea is that ellen attempts to capture another soul sometime in the future, only for the cat to grow tired of her. thus it offers this other girl ellen's own power, if she can claim it. would be voting for, the girl steals the demon's life in the end ending.

This comment is quite old, but I still feel the need to respond. You didn't get this ending because in order to get it you cannot interact with the cat AT ALL. You can't even save once, which you said you did, so that's why you didn't get the ending.

The True End is when the screen fades to black there is a shriek and the screen flashes back on. The child is against a tree as Ellen's Knife starts talking (Yes, talking..Don't judge me, I didn't know what to put!) to the child. The knife AKA Viola starts talking about all the things taken away from her by Ellen and after her mini-speech she stabs the child in the neck. The child wakes up in the flowerbed Viola did and giggles..since Viola stole the child's body. Le End, hoped it wasn't too bad

No. In the normal ending you don't get the knife and you just leave the house with Violas Dad killing the legless girl. Though in the normal ending you don't know what happened and you don't know that Ellen and Viola switched body's so you never switch back.

The True Ending (or CANON ending) gives the idea that that's that. Viola was trapped in Ellen's body and will forever be. As the body is now gone for real after it got shot multiple of times by her own dad means that Viola is gone, finished, dead. What's sad is sad. I mean not every freakin' story should end with frolics and cups of tea.

How about a sequel that goes like this: Ellen can see that her body is ageing and weakening and she doesn't want to die ever, so she lures a young child back to her house to try and get a new body. The child finds hints of what Ellen did to Viola throughout the house. At the end the child escapes and finds a rusty yet sharp knife in the grass (Ellen's knife). Ellen can keep up with the child in her old body so she betrays the cat and switches bodies with it.

The cat is a fucking demon, so before they switch bodies he mutates it horribly, so now a giant monster is chasing the poor kid. The child gets trapped by the roses and vines Ellen used to trap him and as Ellen is about to take the child's body, the child is overcome by a unknown power (Viola) and runs up to Ellen and finishes her off with the now glowing, super-powered knife. Ellen starts to die violently (Like when Mary from Ib died) and finally escapes and the screen fades to black. BUT..

Actually, the true ending is when you go back to the safe near the beginning and get Ellen's knife. Then you leave the house, and Ellen (In Viola's body) stabs Viola. Viola's dad comes in and shoots her just like in the normal ending, thinking she was a monster. I don't think she gets her body back if she catches you D: Which is really terrible. Ellen switched bodies cause she was a witch and had magic, but I don't think Viola had that power.
