Let's pull back the curtain on "The Wizard of Oz". Here's a video I made, synching audio from the recording sessions to the film. Alternate takes, false starts, unused music, etc. Please comment if you like it and want more!

Thank you for posting this. Once again, the artistry, hard work, and dedication that went into this masterpiece of filmmaking is clearly seen. The 1930s and 40s were certainly a zenith for musical film, particularly as executed by MGM and the wonderful Freed unit.

Interesting and Fascinating 15-year-old year Judy Garland loved making The Wizard of Oz! Judy Garland was very happy during the entire filming and making of The Wizard of Oz All Recording of the songs were prerecorded in a week before any filming took place!

No, the music was all recorded before he was ever assigned to the project, and wouldn't have been his responsibility anyway. At 1:01, Judy says, "I'm sorry, George," which means it's Georgie Stoll, whose name appears at the beginning of the video.

What strikes me most is Judy, all of sixteen years old, and the adults in the room all speaking to each other on the same level. So much for the zeebs who want to say Judy was disregarded or bullied. They were all pros working together. And I much prefer the voice that the Coroner ended up with! This one sounds like Popeye.
