Story 3. Retreat is almost always an option. And not just for the players. Bandits, and for that matter any group of baddies, who just saw half their group get slaughtered in a few seconds (a few rounds of combat), would most likely be considering that option heavily and favorably. Bad guys retreating is another way you as a DM can make the future encounters harder without having to use more powerful monsters. Bad guys running away to get reinforcements, magical assistance, lead the group into an ambush, following to attack while the party is distracted, etc.; are all ways the party could encounter the same group and have a much more difficult time the second time around. Especially as that old group will know to target particular members first and what kinds of attacks the party will make. Allowing you, the DM, to Meta-Game without actually Meta-Gaming.

"This game has a lot a lot of roleplay and not much action, which I know you're not into since all you do is play 5e" lol what. I get that that the World of Darkness games are way over on the roleplay side of the RPG spectrum, but 5e specifically is also notably far more roleplay heavy than most popular rpg games before it (since they tend to hang around the action/mechanical side of RPGs). This is silly jab in a sea of silly jabs.

Man are you ever wrong, 5e is babymode, it and Matt Mercer/Critical role have opened the floodgates for lefties and zoomers, inundating the entire D&D Community with babies who only prefer to roll a dice to attack and RP as a furry. 5e was intentionally dumbed down to the point that a bonobo could play, I mean just look at the class/feat/skill selections, you can make a character in like 5 minutes! Back in my day, it could take you an entire day , maybe more! You also needed to have multiple character sheets, the game was HARD and you were meant to WIN. Now everyone has a god complex and wants to hit level 20 within only three sessions! Back in my day, we used to be excited if we hit level *_8_* ! This is also not even mentioning just how milquetoast D&D is now, WOD is *_SOOO_* much better, anyone who says it's edgy or what have you are just sensitive snowflakes! ( *_Obligatory this is a joke_* ) On a serious note, I've tried to do VTM a couple of times and just have never really been able to get into it, due to a variety of reasons.

I'm always skeptical of stories when they have lines like "The person was being disrespectful, but I said literally nothing for no reason". They don't seem that realistic to me. I know people like this exist, but I've never seen anyone just allow themselves to be insulted unless they were actively ignoring the guy. Not playing a game with the dude.
