I called it when he said Brian. This was the second connection. The first is when Keisha danced with the 8th grader. The original Winnie danced with a guy, the same song played on both. When a man loves a woman.

I should have seen it coming when he mentioned the name Brian but I had forgotten that was the name of Winnie's brother, so when that moment came it totally got me. Big tears on that one. Very nicely done.

I was always afraid that the new Wonder Years would be a remake of the original Wonder Years show, but I see now that it was actually a parallel to each other. Two different families living during the same time from two different races perceiving things from a completely different perspective. Pretty good.

Love the new show, and glad they didn't kill the big brother off. He is a good character who will add a lot to the show. Excellent piece of writing to tie up the first season.

Same here.. I really thought, that Phone Call which was received when they were having dinner - the end of big bro.. but so glad to hear that he was only injured and was in the VA hospital and was good to recover fully...

There is a connection to the original in the “Take Your Son to Work,” episode. The father sings the original theme song to the Wonder Years

if you dont watch it as a kid, its just not the same tho!

I'm a kid and watching it (the og series) and it's brought tears to my eyes! It's so relatable and I've cried so many times. (The new series doesn't do the same for me yet so I'm crossing my fingers for a strong connection and not just an "oh yeah I relate to that" but an "that hit home" connection) btw I'm Mexican

I knew the shows were connected in some way, they were in the same universe all along

I didn't make the connection until he said Brian's little sister's name was Gwendolyn. I burst into tears when he said, "But he called her Winnie," and the picture came up. Great callback to the original series. Best moment on the show.

The Wonder year original series was one of my favorite shows of all time I actually couldn’t get into the Reboot initially But I’ve just recently started binge watching it and it’s really a good flip on the series GOOD SHOW this particular episode made me tear up a lil I HOPE ITS NOT CANCELLED

Me too! I grew up on the original. And only just gave this a shot because I was too lazy to find something else to watch. Glad I stuck with it. This moment made me ugly cry.

Yeah, I watched the original show and I watched this episode. I was surprised his friend was white and I said that's the girl from the original show. I like how both shows are happening at the same time one set in California the other set in Alabama.

@@tking24 Yeah, I see what you're saying but in the opening scene, of the original, I see the curvaceous slopes of California. You don't find those slopes in Anytown in the USA.

The original serial and obviously this version are exactly the same years of my school years. I realized that when watching the original series years ago when the renaming of schools after the Robert Kennedy assassination and the Apollo moon landings were being discussed in episodes.

Looks like the main character has a better big brother than Kevin did. Is this guy a brother of the main character or just a friend. I never seen an episode just happen to see this video.

This is one of the shows that should be left alone and not make a remake of it it was a different time and era
@heatherL4834 Жыл бұрын
Normally, I would say that but this was done beautifully.

Never watched it, huh? Same time and universe as the original… just different places. Not a remake…just the same name.
@aldojasso91772 жыл бұрын
so it is a spin off with the same name ?and not a remake?
@drlommis517611 ай бұрын
No, it was a different point of view from an african american side of that time n era
@VVV9537 ай бұрын
A TV show that happens to exist in the same universe with the original Source material of another show officially makes it a spin-off, if there's Easter eggs that make a connection and you're all part of the same world, you're part of the source material therefore you're officially connected and that makes you a spin-off
@deandoxtator713715 күн бұрын
This stupid, the guy telling his story about how he was in the army. Im sorry but its clearly a bunch of B.S their is no feeling of connection to him being in the army. When someone in the army they come back harden like stone. They don't have this baby face look about them. There no connection with the actor to the character at all.

Also having written my NOW, FIRST 100% complete AND (I'll admit WHY in a few more words) REBALANCED opinion of the show I VERY STUPIDLY wrote off as probably Woke... woke due to how much I had figured the overwhelmingly Woke-Hollywood culture had to of ruined ANY honest chance for a 60s, 80s OR even 90s version that the writers and even some of the main cast had a hand in. ...Its NICE to be WRONG for a change. NOW, I have more tipping point interest in this SPIN OFF. Its actually a spin off, not "an outright boring scene per scene reboot with repeated half-half word per word PLUS from an 'excessively-pc, WOKE 'African-American-'(anti-white) Perspective'-in-exchange-to-shit-on-all-whites'... Believe it or not, this spin off gives me HOPE that SOONER, rather than later- MSNBC and CNN along with BIDEN's wokebot legion world SJWs will have ZERO power on races to manipulate us into b.s. debates, fist fights and furious rhetoric from BOTH sides on racism!
@Odawg969 ай бұрын
Wow….You had all those preconceived notions just because you saw that the show had a familiar name but had black characters?!? It wasn’t possible for a separate group of characters to exist simultaneously at the same time as the Arnolds? I can assure you that you’re probably wrong on more things more often that you realize. I’ll be the first to say that Hollywood ran out of ideas some time ago and are doing a lot of reboots (too many): Knight Rider; Magnum PI; SWAT; Bionic Woman; etc. This was one I was willing to give a chance although the original is one of the pillars of my teen years. Why? Because the 60s were a tumultuous time, and it presented different experiences for everyone. The original did a great job of covering a lot of ground, but in the 30 years since original went off the air, there’s been certain developments that allow more things to be discussed and addressed. At the same time, though, there’s plenty about the show that people from walks of life can I relate to (just like the original). Of course, I know it wasn’t just you. There’s a lot of people who screamed “woke” and “blackwashing”-right here on Youatube-without having seen a single scene from the show. Well, at least you gave it a chance. It was cancelled…to make more room for reality garbage, I guess, something we REALLY don’t need.
