Great video, Daniel! Very interesting game! Thanks a bunch! For the record, last time he was over 2850 was November 2016.

Presumably _on first inspection_ couldn't find a win with 46 ... h5 so he looked elsewhere. He saw a3 clearing a path for the other rook and that was good enough so he stopped looking. If for some reason a3 hadn't worked then I'd imagine he would've found the King to the h-file variation. Isn't this how a lot of "he missed a win" variations happen. Not so much "he missed a win" as "after overlooking something in a calculation he found a different win so didn't bother going back to check his initial analysis". And Thanks for great analysis. I keep on upping my subscription level :-)

This is true, and DK acknowledges this, being typically very humble in his analysis. Let's imagine Maurice Ashley analysing this in comparison!

The natural way of thinking, much more efficient then trying to make h5 work when Carlsen just spots a3 and realizes its good enough.

17:19 very interesting, because usually, Queen against Pawn on 7th, columns "c" and "f" is a draw, but in this case the white King is on the wrong place :-)
@turtoise4
@turtoise4 5 жыл бұрын
Its "file" not column :) and yeah if queen can occupy the last rank it's always a win. Drawing files are also a-file and h-file apart from c and f files because of stalemate ideas

Seems that 60....Qh3 in the end really keeps things clean. Otherwise the lazy 60. ...Qa8 leads to 61. Kd7 Qb7 62. Kd8 where one has to see Kf6

Hello Daniel, i was just wondering in the Kh6 variation which wins due to Rg2+ and Rgg8, why is white not able to play Kh4 instead of Kg4 so there is no Rg2+?
@jonasjonass623
@jonasjonass623 5 жыл бұрын
Ah, i think i got it myself. After Kh4, black plays Rh2+ before moving the other rook to the back rank and the king has to move to g4 again

@@jonasjonass623 After Kh4, black can simply play Rc2 it seems.

If Black really wanted to exchange the queens, which is one of the objectives of course, then why didn't Magnus play 28... Qe1+?

beautifully explained. Not comparison but agadmator was kinda happy with the Re3 move but it was a blunder and both the players pointed out in the post match analysis and was rightly pointed out in this video! Cheers
@flavioparenti
@flavioparenti 5 жыл бұрын
varun sudarshan you should not compare a gm analysis with agadmator, more out of respect than anything else. Both are good, but if you want chess insight, mr king is way above the very sympathetic agadmator
@DimitrisAndreou
@DimitrisAndreou 5 жыл бұрын
Agadmator misses all important moments, just a weak player with a computer. You can see this when he tries to construct an offhand explanation about why a move is bad (without putting his lines in the computer), it's a blunderfest
@DevN9007

Agadmator is a 2000 elo player reciting lines from Stockfish. He's good for a short summary of a game but pay no attention to his "analysis"

I really enjoy your videos very much. There's just one tiny fly in the soup: That annoying clock-ticking at the end. I don't know if you're attempting to copy 60 minutes (if so, maybe your videos ought to be 60 minutes long). I doesn't even sound much like any of the analogue chess watches I've known. Could you possibly ... drop it, please?

It was Nov. 2016 when Magnus was last time above 2850. 2700chess.com/players/carlsen My impression ist that he is (playing) very relaxed and confident since the end of the WC - it's great to see, also that he's not too harsh against himself as it seems at least.

I don't like sicilian defense for this reason. Either you play some boring chess and draw or try something and lose. At least this sveshnikov is boring.
