The Girardoni air rifle was an air gun designed by Tyrolian inventor Bartolomeo Girardoni circa 1779. The weapon was also known as the Windbüchse ("wind rifle" in German). One of the rifle's more famous associations is its use on the Lewis and Clark Expedition to explore and map the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. 20 rounds of .46 caliber

Great video. I've been shooting airguns for over 10 years now and they have went off the charts in improvements with power and accuracy. I basically got started with them because moving to an area bountiful in coyotes and the fact that I was unfortunate to get a record over 50 years ago and after losing two family pets I had to do something that was legally feasible. I might also mention they do get addictive and a variety of ammo options that range from pellet, slugs and bolts/ arrows with calibers from .177 to.72

I bought mine a year ago and love it. It is an awesome gun. It is super easy to cock compared to my 30 cal SS Plus. The only problem I have had with mine was shooting slugs and it would not cycle due to the extra weight of slugs over pellets. Otherwise, it is a great gun and it is definitely an option for home defense. I feel sorry for any criminal who runs into this gun in home. 10 shots as fast as you can pull the trigger and really easy to reload. And at close range it will go through a 2x4. If you buy one be sure to get extra magazines when purchasing the gun. They are sometimes hard to come by after the fact.

@Triumph 45 I think there was a CDC statistic a while back that stated that there were 500k certain to upwards of 3 million defensive gun uses a year, this was a while back like early 2010's. So the numbers have probably gone up with more gun owners and there general crime spike because of the weak leadership we have in some big cities. In a country with 330 million people our general average for gun homicides was somewhere between 12k and 18k a year with another 20k+/- a few thousand due to suicides. This has gone up a tad in recent years due to said poor leadership to somewhere around 15-20k and 25k respectively. But even in that case we're a country with over 400 million guns, more guns than the population, and roughly 80 million gun owners and our homiide rates taken as a whole aren't even the worst among 1st world countries, if you took out 5 major cities with the highest gun crime we would be far below average even. Most of the crime that occurs in our country happens in like 10 of our major cities with a good third of all gun homicides occuring there, outside of that most the rest of the country is fairly peaceful. Obviously that 500k to 3 million number is a bit daunting and kinda large but the problem with measuring the upper end is that someyimes people defend themselves with a gun without firing a shot so it's harder to track. Now, how that transfers to home invasions and home defense is a tad harder. I don't have exact statistics but if you use the low end of that 500k stat which is a hard stat rather than the estimated 3 million and spread that out over the number of hot or live break in statistics you'd probably get a better idea.

You’ll need to look at the FX AirGuns model, specifically the 30cal., Impact. This is not a Daisy anymore Fred. I have taken down a 963lb hog in Texas. Most all of my friends have switched from rimfire rifles to the AirRifle. Best decision I’ve made in a very long time, has become a very great weapon in my arsenal. No more black powered ammo entities to drain my wallet. I can recover my shot lead from my range targets and melt them down to use again, no more reloading each shell, now I use MAPP gas in a skillet to melt down the lead to pour into the sandbox forms.

I actually think I could take it down with my 25 cals. They push 48 grains slugs @ 900 fps which is 85 ft lbs of energy. A direct head shot and I'm pretty sure it's gong down or drop on the spot. For my fellow Canadians out there, this is most certainly considered a Firearm which in Canada is defined as anything that can fire a projectile greater than 480 fps. So regardless whether it's a sling shot, a pellet gun, a bow and arrow or crossbow or anything else that fires a projectile 480+ feet per second, it is a firearm and has all the restrictions that any firearm has. This would include a paintball gun IF you can get the fps to that level.

This is essentially a .22lr without the background check. The upfront cost will be way more extensive, but the ammo should be slightly cheaper and you don’t really need to clean these. This is definitely worth it if you live in a state that isn’t free or are a rehabilitated individual with a felony on your record. If I couldn’t get a .22lr I would definitely look into this. It’s also soooo quiet.

From what I can tell, these AEA guns aren't the most refined things, but hey certainly do have the power. They are very American. I would say that even for those with access to firearms, a quality PCP airgun offers certain advantages. They can be absurdly quite, in a more normal calibre like .22 or .25, they are much cheaper to shoot that rimfire, and the good ones are not only more accurate than rimfire, but you can tune them on the fly, something a rimfire can't do. They get standard deviations and extreme spreads that match grade centerfire ammo struggles to get, and they do it with almost boring ease, over and over again. There are certain use cases where they are legitimately the best tool for the job. But these things are unregulated, so they are going to have variable velocity based on how much is in the tank. FX, Daystate, ect are probably better. Also what's with the heavy trigger? There's no excuse for a bad trigger on a high end PCP.
@bertbccfu9564

@@Patrick-857 I have two aea guns and I really enjoy both of them, in my opinion to run the AEA guns they do need a little more tuning than other more expensive higher-end guns , you have to be a little mechanically inclined at least and enjoy fiddling with these guns I have my aea HP 25 varmint shooting about 1 in groups now at 100 yd but I have polished and lapped the barrel and barrel crown, upgraded to a 4500 PSI carbon fiber bottle installed a regulator fine-tuned and played with the hammer spring polished the trigger sear assembly have also replaced the trigger Springs to bring the pull weight down,
@bertbccfu9564

The only time I clean my PCP air rifles is when I notice accuracy change, if it starts to throw pellets around and your groups open up that's usually a good indication it needs a barrel cleaning, I learned that from watching videos of a guy that works for FX, and it does really make sense because the barrels need a little bit of lead in them , before I was cleaning them a lot more often and then it would take 20 or so shots just get the barrel leaded back in like I said now I don't mess with it unless the accuracy changes, I probably have about 1000 rounds through my HP right now since I cleaned it and 1 inch groups at 100 yards is definitely achievable with this gun

My .177 breakbarrel does 1600fps and will go through sheetrock at 100 yards
@Patrick-857
@Patrick-857 Жыл бұрын
@Mark McCune No it doesn't. Unless you're shooting plastic pellets, it's not doing 1600 fps. Have you put it over a chrono? I'm guessing not. Here's the deal with break barrels, they aren't designed to push a normal pellet you're likely to use over somewhere between 850 and 950 fps, and for good reason. You don't want your pellet going faster than 950, and preferably no more than 900, because waisted diabolo pellets get really unstable over that speed and become very inaccurate. Also piston airguns have a practical upper limit in terms of power anyway, and that's also caliber dependant. The exact same rifle in .22 will produce significantly more muzzle energy than in .177 even though the .22 version will produce lower velocity. Some of the big magnum break barrels can push lighter .177 lead pellets just over the sound barrier but certainly not 1600fps. Not even the 1350 that Gamo likes to claim. More like 1050 on a good day, and if your getting that you need a heavier pellet to get it into that 850 to 950 range. TLDR manufacturers lie about their FPS figures. Chrony numbers or it didn't happen.

81 grain projectile, max velocity of 900 feet per second, puts it around 145 foot pounds. That's best conditions. Without a chrono, it's impossible to say for sure, but based on the audio, it certainly *seems* like those pellets are hauling ass, so over 100 foot pounds is very plausible. I'd be surprised if it's flirting with 900 f/s on every shot, but 750-800 is more reasonable, and that still puts it over 100 foot pounds. Definitely enough to ruin your fucking day. 9mm will easily be double, and probably more like triple or better the energy. Even subs, since those are usually 145 grain or higher.

All my AEA's unregulated shot the fastest at a 3200-3300 psi fill. Hopefully try it and it does you the same. @Patrick-857
@Patrick-857 Жыл бұрын
FPS figures are stupid marketing BS. Unless you know exactly what projectile was used to achieve that figure, it's just not useful information, and is likely a misrepresentation. Muzzle energy is the only useful way to assess airgun power, because velocity is not by itself a unit if power. More is also not better with airgun velocity. 850 to 900 is the sweet spot when it comes to airgun accuracy, and they absolutely do have an upper limit in terms of velocity anyway because air. Some manufacturers make absurd claims when it comes to velocity and they should all be ignored. Any good quality PCP airgun these days should be expected to do around 800 to 900 fps with the pellet weight it's best used almost regardless of caliber and so with big caliber comes big power. That's why we are going to these huge calibers, because airguns cannot do it with velocity, nor really long heavy projectiles, so we need to go big and heavy. Claims be damned. This airgun is performing exactly as I would expect it to with the 81 grainers, which are all made by JSB. They are the standard weight pellets, so equivalent to the 8.44 in .177 or the 15.89 in .22. 70 is a lighter one. The 70 grain slug doesn't count, slugs always get less velocity for their weight due to more friction and less effective sealing in the bore. A 70 grain pellet may well get close to that, especially of this thing were to be tuned a bit for optimal efficiency. But I wouldn't be concerned with it getting 800 FPS. That's a good velocity for any airgun. To me that's just an airgun doing what it does, higher velocity may be possible but not desirable. All my airguns but one sit on that sort of velocity.

@Patrick-857
@Patrick-857 Жыл бұрын
Sigh.... high velocity isn't desirable in an airgun unless you're using slugs, and that's a totally different ballgame requiring much more tuning, projectile testing and usually a barrel made for the purpose. If you're shooting waisted pellets, you don't want it going over 950 fps max, and accuracy may not be great there. 870 in .35 is an insane amount of power for an airgun, but 870 is also a really good velocity for any airgun caliber, it's right in the sweet spot. If you're getting over 1000 with diabolo pellets, it needs to be turned down or fed some heavier pellets, which isn't really an easy option because you get maybe two weights of pellet from one company in .30, 44 and 51 grain. That's why these big calibers exist. Sure, you can push a pellet over 1000 fps, but it's going be a lot less accurate, and the bigger pellets carry more energy further, and really hit with more authority. Penetration is not necessarily a good measure of effectiveness, since your .35 is likely carrying a lot more energy even if at a lower velocity, so it could be argued that less penetration means it's dumping all it's energy earlier, which is exactly what you want for taking down game. More velocity is no use if it goes straight through the animal and carries on with a bunch if energy still un used, which is a big reason people are picking .17 HMR instead of .22LR for varmints. That's at the opposite end of the spectrum where high velocity starts to work better because it dumps it's energy faster and does more damage. At airgun velocity you need to use size, not velocity to achieve this. Ignore manufacturer velocity claims my friend. Your airguns are performing as they should and will take out anything you can hit no problem. Just tame that .30 a little unless it's using slugs, in which case go nuts, the more the better.

@@Patrick-857 right in the beginning of your comment you said high velocity is good for slugs , that’s 100% true and that’s what every body want , having higher velocity means you i shoot heavier object and get more more foot pound and for light pellet I can turn it down , me personally would love to see my terminator .35 cal shoot 81gr at 920 fps , but in reality AEA terminator shoot around 840 to 845 fps , Higher velocity is like money it’s hard to say I don’t need more money and at last not every body wanna do grouping like I like penetration putting hole in frying pan or woods , I need velocity

there is firm in the UK that specialises in making mags for air rifles, made from CNC alloy, I'm sure they make one for this rifle, they do all the rotary and double side-by-side stuff, not cheap but much better than that one, no jams, and no worry about dropping it,

In some places you can own firearms again. I did 10 years in the DOC in Indiana, was a felon for 14 years and now i build my own guns and am legal. Some states like Indiana have laws where you can have your rights restored. It may be unknown to most or prohibitively complicated or expensive but it is possible. I even went into the armored truck industry for awhile not even 4 years after I got out.

Check out the rest of the aea line ,especially the Challenger bullpups , you can get big power from these guns at affordable prices, ive always thought the terminator was overpriced myself, if you dont mind bolt action but still mag fed then you can get a much better value gun at about half of the terminator price, I've always thought the semi auto setup on these was kind of gimmicky anyway, while I would love to own one of the full auto guns such as the Hatsan Blitz or one of the LCS guns

Up in Canada, airguns are considered firearms if they fire projectiles faster than 500 FPS. If so, they are treated as firearms, and require a government license that requires : photo and fingerprints taken for a deep background check by the RCMP. If you pass that, then you must enroll in the approved firearms safety course, which consists of about 10 hours of instruction, followed by a written test. Usual rates are about $200 for this. Once you pass, you are issued a PAL that must then be renewed every 5 years.

I live in Nassau County Long Island, NY. My pistol license took 3+ years, with a full; federal, state, and local background check AND statements from 3 neighbors saying I'm kinda normal. All that nonsense cost $500. I have had 2 renewals of $250 or $350 every 5 years. I have yet to purchase a handgun. This nonsense takes all the pleasure out of activity. I despise governmental controls of individuals in their own home and property. If a person mentions they have a weapon, the look of horror and concern is written on their faces. Sometimes it feels I am living in the book, 1984. Next stop for me, New Hampshire.

I designed 3d printed resin pellets that go > 1,800 fps out of a break barrel air rifle. They only weigh 1.1 grains though. That said, they are extremely loud because they are breaking the sound barrier. Interestingly, they actually hold together and will embed themselves intact into wood. I tested them out on clay and, instead of just leaving a nice round hole like other pellets, they leave a jagged gaping crater.

@@АлакПатрова Is that a resin printer? You can only really print them on a resin printer because of how small they are. Also, I would recommend not fully curing the resin pellets so you get a better seal. I was shocked that they actually hold together. Also, you'll only get really high velocities with break barrel airguns. The maximum velocity of guns is limited by the speed of sound in the media. In the case of break barrel airguns, the air gets compressed by the piston and the temperature increases. The speed of sound in that compressed hot air is much higher than the speed of sound in room temp air or CO2 coming out of a cartridge. One more thing, you might want to consider wearing hearing protection. They sound almost like a 0.22. The supersonic crack makes a lot of noise.

Mine is 1000 plus feet per second in .22 and semi-auto, and it passed through my friends (was freinds) cheek and took a tooth out...from 20 feet away you defiantly going to stop somebody from coming forward.I also have a cheap 715T , you really wanna use the bullet-shaped rounds theyre pointy and would go through all the jugs no problem, the pellets make a bigger hole ,but the tipped ones penetrate 100 time better.
@theceltbeserk1
@theceltbeserk1 Жыл бұрын
The jugs aren't leaking due to vacuum or equalized air/water pressure. Either way, if you loosened the cap, those jugs would spill all over. For water to leak out, air must be able to fill the void and they are fighting for the same exit/entrance of the pellet hole, each creating a barrier to the other.
