Kansas native here. That chainsaw sculpture you asked about is a Jayhawk. Ye Old Mill is my favorite thing at the fair. They repaint the front and change it up every year,

I even saw a super lady that new my folks that was sitting at the door in the state fair museum. The Brockabrella was invented by baseball player Lou Brock in the late 70s - early 80s. HANDS FREE umbrella. 30 state fairs visited! It's cool that they have a train. Ye Old Mill looks good enough to be in a permanent park. Thanks for taking us there!

Jacob, please come to The Big E this year. The New England states dont have our own individual state fairs, we all share one known as the Eastern States Exposition, or "The Big E". It runs September 13-29 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. You'd be checking off 6 states all at once by going!

I'm sure at least 3 out of 5 of your fellow fair attendees would have known what the mascot was called, you just have to ask them. Butter sculpture is always fun! That crossing guard from the train ride brought back memories from when I was a kid 45 years ago... You said "crappy"!😂 Cool dark ride. My favorite part of any fair is the live animals, including if there's a pig race! Wasn't that four horned ram a Jacob sheep?

You should visit the Eisenhower Library and Museum in Abilene, Kansas. There's also a great local history museum there with a carousel and a Greyhound Hall of Fame where you can pet greyhounds.

You'll have to return to Hutchinson sometime because you missed attractions that have worldwide connections. Strataca (which you saw the booth for) is an underground salt mine with a vault that houses the original negatives from Ben Hur and Gone with the Wind. The Cosmosphere is a space museum that houses the capsule from Apollo 13.

It's called cowboy mounted shooting, where you ride a pattern and shoot a real gun but filled with blanks. It's a timed competition and a lot of fun. You need a lot of practice and a steady horse for it. I need to know when you're gonna hit the Arkansas state fair. If I know the day, I'll come ride the Ferris wheel with you. LOL. Ye old mill is my favorite ride at the KSF I actually live in Hutchinson and go to the fair every year.. I always hit the mill and have to get some Gator on a stick then I'm happy! Lol
