This is so true Carol! I'm learning NZ Māori at the moment and I resonate with all the points that you made. I particularly have to get over my dislike of being 'wrong' or 'incorrect'... it's stopping me from actually speaking in Māori but that's the best way for me to improve. 🙂

@highproteinprincess, Hi Michelle, oh, my goodness - you can relate, huh? Well, I certainly appreciate you watching! I hope it inspires you to keep moving forward with your language learning. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm impressed that you are learning Māori ~ what a beautiful thing! 💚 Take care, Carol Amato

As somebody who is an serial language learning quitter, I can definitely agree with the heart of this video. Parroting the language has a method all on its own called the mimic method. It is the closest I have ever come to success.

Ciao, my name is Paul and I'm from Wisconsin, 56, and I live part time in Castellammare del Golfo. Very close to Carini as I'm sure you know. Several years ago I lived in Florence for about 6 months while attending an Italian language school. I got a good amount of the basics down and can manage in a restaurant or grocery store but I am by no means conversational. I have kind of reached an impasse of sorts. Any tips for breaking thru that to become more confident and fluid. I know many words and phrases but struggle with verbs and the past and future tenses. I will be returning to Castellammare in early March and absolutely cannot wait! Grazie, Paul

@paulfreitag7772 - Paul, I can definitely understand how you feel about reaching that plateau. You've done a great job, though, to be fluent enough to handle social settings. The best idea in my opinion is to have someone speak Italian with you person to person. This can be online, but it must be an individual. Movies are great, but there is no substitute for practical application with an Italian. That's how I learned Sicilian - by being around Croce's family. Hopefully, we can meet when you get back to the Island. We leave the end of January. 😊Thanks for watching. Keep us posted. Ciao, Ciao, Carol Amato

@franchuba4995, I just checked Idealista.it, and they do not specifically list the days, but the term you would check for would be 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗼 which is short-term. Hope to help. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. We appreciate it. 💚 Blessings, ~ Croce & Carol Amato

Thanks very much, Carol! I'm trying to learn Italian with a teacher online, it's hard but as you said, every step I reach feels like a great personal success! Moreover, I need to take a B1 International exam (PLIDA) to get my citizenship ... Did you have to take this exam, too?

I am using Duolingo. Hoping once we are living in Sicily full time it will help. I’m really not sure jus how much the locals use Italian. I’m afraid they are speaking Sicilian.
@TheSicilianLife3 ай бұрын
@dianamartin9558, Hi Diana - that's an awesome app. Well, I think Sicilian is perfectly fine, and that's what you may hear more when you're out and about. Not sure. You're very close to where we will be so it's probably similar. The folks on the town square visiting with friends, they speak dialect. When in a public store, restaurant, whatever, it's usually Italian. When do you get back to Sicily? Enjoy! Thanks for watching. 💕 Blessings, ~ Carol Amato

@dianamartin9558, no, they absolutely do not. ✅When we made a Thanksgiving meal in Sicily, I had to order turkey way in advance because they usually just have the legs occassionally. Won't be cooking a whole turkey again, though, too, too much! ~ Blessings!
