One thing to note about Playboy X and Dwayne is you CAN just ignore them. Dwayne's two missions and the Holland Play (where you choose who to kill and is unlocked by completing those Dwayne missions) are optional and not required to beat the game. You can chose not to do them or even do them after the story is over. So it is possible to beat GTA IV with both Playboy X and Dwayne alive.

Playboy X was in a penthouse and had a whole crew with automatic weapons. Dwayne was in a dump in the projects and had an old man with a baseball bat. Plus, Dwayne hangs out with you afterwards while Playboy X tells you to kick rocks. The choice is clear.

I got rid of my PS3 when I got my PS4, and it’s been so surprising they haven’t remastered this one for the later generations yet. This is the best story. I think both Derrick and Francis are as bad as each other, but I believe the correct decision is to kill Francis because a corrupt cop is more damaging to the world than a back stabbing, drug addicted deadbeat snitch. It's worth pointing out Derrick will die regardless of whether or not you kill him in Blood Brothers, Packie McReary mentions he's dead in the Paleto Score in GTA V if you select him as a crew member, so regardless of who you pick he'll end up dead one way or another, whether it be through him being a problem that takes car of itself or taking him out.

The choices in GTA IV are so good because they effect the story, either in big ways or small ways depending on the choice you make from the main missions of the story to the characters you meet on the street and have one or a few interactions with. The choices also affect Niko in one way or another. These decisions make the game even better the more you replay the game and honestly, it’s partly why I replay this game as often as I do. Of course the story and characters are amazing, but I appreciate the different choices presented to you as the game goes on. Some choices are easy to make, while others might take a moment to really think about what you’ll do and how it may affect the game’s story later on. Great video man, keep up the great work. You're missing the point. There's no difficult choices, you either stick to Niko's ideals, or not.

Killing Derrick makes sense, he's a rat according to the police database. Plus he sold out his former comrades for drugs. As much as I despise Francis, Derrick was the logical choice. Killing Ivan is wrong. Ivan's a Russian Roman really. He's not the brightest criminal, but he's actually OK. Killing Dwayne is wrong, there's something about killing a character who's struggling with his own demands and trying to be a decent person. Killing Cherise is wrong too, her reasons made sense. Even though you've no choice, killing Faustin made sense for several reasons. Clarence Little makes sense to whack, but I keep him around to rub him out later. Sparing Darko makes sense too, since it adds in to Niko's institutionalised killing. His humanity begins takes over and he releases frees himself from the vicious circle of endless violence and death that clearly torments him, even admitting to this after killing Ray Boccino. Revenge choice makes more sense than Deal since Niko knows better than to work with Dimitri. A sad ending either way though.

I killed everyone except for Ivan cause I didn't like Vlad. I killed Cherise because I hate disloyal people. The only person I regret killing was Derrick I always liked him more than Francis despite the fact that he's a pathetic human being (a rat and a homeless drug addict). Killed Clarence cause why not Killed Playboy X, as previously said I hate disloyal people. Killed Darko Chose the revenge ending cause it obviously made more sense. - spare Ivan. Later on when you meet him in Liberty, he actually thanks Niko for sparing his life and how he's doing much better than ever before now that Vlad is gone - spare Dwayne's ex. If you kill her, Dwayne will tell Niko that she didn't deserve to die even if she was a cheating h*e, which will change Dwayne's perspective on Niko, slightly - kill Playboy X. He's a scumbag and a terrible friend to Dwayne and it's obvious he's been using Dwayne all his life to get where he's at, and now that he sees no use for Dwayne anymore, he wants to get rid of him. Plus, if you kill Playboy X, you get his apartment as a new safehouse for Niko, and Dwayne will become your friend and let you call for backup if you're in a tight spot with enemies - kill Clarence. Like we saw, he comes back and wants to kill Niko for sparing him so that one's obvious - kill Francis. Derrick may be a drunk fool, but unlike Francis who was selfish, hated his family and didn't like associating with them that much, Derrick actually showed he cared for them all. Although, killing Derrick and saving Francis will allow Niko to buy off cops later if the heat gets too high to handle - kill Dimitri. Although both endings make Niko lose a loved one, losing Roman is a much bigger loss and you can see what it does to Niko and how he starts doubting everything he's ever done since he came to Liberty City. If you choose to spare Dimitri and work with him, you're ultimately the bigger fool because Dimitri backstabs us as expected and we kill him eventually anyways, Kate doesn't want to speak to us because we come off as a coward with no morals, and we lose Roman, so Niko is left all alone at the end of the day

Fun fact : In the mission Pest control you were supposed to choose between killing either Ray or Phil You would have gotten a big reward for killing Phill and a smaller one for Ray But it was most likely changed because he became a main antagonist in Lost and damned

I don't agree with the Deal/Revenge choice. To me it goes a bit deeper than the player knowing Dimitri can't be trusted, or choosing Revenge because we want Roman to live. Niko doesn't want to work with Dimitri and will never trust him again. Kate also points out that Niko should never work with Dimitri again, which makes an impression. But then there's Roman, who begs Niko to take the deal. Niko still doesn't trust Dimitri to hold up his end of the deal, but ultimately he wants to try his best for Roman. Roman may have lied to Niko about life in America, but he has suffered a lot since Niko showed up. He may be a dishonost gambler, but he is definitely loyal to Niko. Because of this, Niko feels he has to try the deal on the off-chance it helps Roman out. This of course ends up with the opposite, when Roman gets killed by the assassin sent by Dimitri to kill Niko. For us this a far more painful result than Kate dying, because we have known Roman longer and (generally) like Roman better. For some this is reason to choose Revenge, but I think Roman dying actually fits the dark story of the game far better. The fact that Roman dies after Niko goes against his own instincts and judgment just because there's a slight hope it might make Roman's life better, is just so incredibly sad. The extreme downer ending with Niko rich but without Roman, Mallorie pregnant, and Niko having taken revenge on Dimitri after all but without making him feel better just fits the story perfectly. Because Roman's death is so impactful, I feel like Kate's death is not really as powerful as a trigger for Niko's final revenge rampage. I also feel like Pegorino as the "end boss" of the game is just not as good. Pegorino might be an arrogant prick, but he's generally done right by Niko. He did ask Niko to work with Dimitri when he knew he shouldn't expect it from him, but that's hardly reason for Niko to want to kill him. The only reason for Niko to want to do this is Kate's death. Compare that to Dimitri. Niko has been betrayed by Dimitri early on, Dimitri has burned his home and Roman's cab business and kidnapped Roman to get to Niko. After all this Niko still decides to let go of revenge, only to be betrayed once more. And even after this final betrayel, Niko prepared to let it go. He is done with the life and with taking revenge, he wants to go to the wedding and do what he can to give Roman and Mallorie the happiness he feels he can never have. And even after letting everything go, Dimitri still sends an assassin who ends up killing Roman. Now thát is a powerful motivation for Niko to go after someone.

Funnily enough on my first playthough i spared Clarence, not because i thought he would reform but because he wasn't really worth it imo (yes i know Francis would have paid me to kill him but still i could have just lied about it and nothing would have changed). However then the cops came, i killed a couple, got 5 stars and then got killed myself. And because that mission took me a while to do it, i just decided to go and do the easy option, that being climbing up the crane that close to the building and killing him with a sniper rifle without alerting any cops. So now knowing how things would have ended had i spared Clarence kinda makes me glad i died and then restarted the mission.

The thing about Clarence Little is that he was the other side of the Ivan coin. When you spare Ivan, it’s because Niko refuses to be a hitman for Vlad. Well, same applies for Francis McReary and the LCPD. With the caveat of self defense. Standing your ground is different from being a killer for someone who holds authority.

For Francis' and Derrick's case it's easy for me to make my own decision which is killing Derrick since I want to put him out from his own misery but for Dwayne and Playboy X, I always want to killed Playboy X, you will know the reason why I chose that if you a fans of The Professional and his all of his playthrough (He also play GTA IV and he even made a GTA lore videos)

Good choice to kill both Derrick and Playboy X cuz its my prefer choices why? Because Playboy X is good choice and it plays a perfect mission passed theme and Derrick he will die quickly if he spared him so idk what should i prefer so killing Derrick is good (Sorry Derrick :'>. )

8:24 I believe that the reason Niko chose to do this, invisibly has to do with his past. In my Opinion , Niko defied orders once to save someone in a similarly high position that he was ordered to kill. He didn't kill them and got ousted by whom he was working for. Then, the man offers Niko a position in their gang, with the leader being Ray Bulgarin. The man that I think Niko saved was Timur. Timur then turns against Niko due to his jealousy at Niko’s growing influence within the group, and sabotages the boat he was working on, sinking any possibility of Niko staying around his old homeland. This backstory is why I choose to believe that Niko has struggles with giving mercy to those that ask for it. That way, you can both be materialistic with killing Derrick, and merciless when killing Clarence. But it also allows you to save Ivan, even though you have nothing to gain from it, because Niko decides for himself, rather than for business. It also allows for him to start hoping in a better future than killing.

When I played through initially on the 360 I spared Demetri because I thought Faustian seemed like a loose cannon and then wondered why Demetri was a jerk, then I stopped playing the game. Now I realize, Demetri was being a sneaky little shit and was pushing his boy's buttons to make him appear unhinged so that some prince will save him, but only to screw them over. Now, as an Adult, screw that sneaky shit, lesson learned, good story that took decades to understand, as all good stories do.

With a lot of these choices, I do think it's best to consider how Niko would actually feel about them, who he clearly likes more, or who the lesser of two evils is. Like with Dwayne and Playboy, Dwayne routinely made him laugh, reminded him of himself, and seemed to genuinely like him and wanted to help him as he deserved better (as far as criminals go.) Playboy tried to manipulate and gaslight Niko into killing Dwayne, saying that he'd gone crazy and that it was their collective problem. The dude was just depressed. Playboy definitely deserved to go over Dwayne, as you at least get a friend and a house. With Francis and Derrick, Niko was willing to help Derrick at the behest of Packie. He's a crazy junkie, and not a good person, but over his brother Francis who basically forced Niko to help him every time? You get more money, sure, but Francis was as bad as the U.L. Paper guy.

4:50 I agree and disagree. I think that Roman was right at the beginning when he said not to go to Vlad's club to kill him, but during the mission (ie during the chase after the fight started) when Roman said to let it go and let Vlad live I think he was wrong because now Vlad would surely be after them too, and possibly still Mikhail and Dmitri. But to your point I think if Niko stayed home instead of going to Vlad's club then things would have been better.

I don't understand why Vlad and Mallorie had sex. Storywise I mean. It breaks the story a little bit for me. If the writers decided that Vlad raped Mallorie then I can understand why Niko would want to kill him. But instead Niko kills Vlad because...he hates him? And because they had sex? Like both consented to it. It was Mallories and Vlads decision. Vlad gets killed for having sex? Just because he's an asshole? And Mallorie doesn't get any consequences? Roman should've broken up with her. She cheated on him. Yes Vlad was also a betrayer so that means he's unsafe because he could kill Niko if he doesn't need him anymore. But the weird thing to me is that Niko doesn't decide to kill Vlad after hearing from Ivan that he betrayed him but instead he does it after that when he heard that Mallorie and Vlad had sex.

I always end up choosing to take out Derrick. Both men are equally scum either way, but its more beneficial to take out Derrick bcuz Francis can either clear or reduce wanted levels for you, plus he pays you.

the last mission choice, is like..... yeah, you wou will break your word anyway. when you deal with faustin, you burry you own morals, but at the other hand you will betray Pegorino, witch always helped you (as far as i remember) and got betrayed by everyone else. So. I my mind is like, actually make the favour for pegorino and kill Dimetri afterwarts and so........ but the game dont want you just have a happy end.

When GTA 4 first came out a lot of folks were bummed about how serious it was. 5 is a much more polished game and your money goes further. However, the story is kinda lame in 5. No real tension or depth. They also didn’t focus much on the gang stuff which is odd considering that’s all San Andreas was. They leaned to much into the FIB, Merryweather & rich douche bags like Westin. 4’s story is a slow burn but it’s well crafted and relatable. 5’s story feels shallow. Also the side characters in 4 are legendary. Roman, Brucie, Lil Jacob, Dwayne, Packie and Bernie. Also you could have multiple girlfriends each with their own abilities to help you throughout the game. Franklin, Michael and Trevor are memorable but the only side characters I gave a damn about was Lamar and Chop.

Still think offing Derrick over Francis is the better choice. Francis is a douche to niko sure but, Francis still helps you get the police off your back whenever he can if you choose to off Derrick. Also Derrick would’ve died either way to overdosing before the gta 5 story(so somewhere between 2008-2013). Meaning if you kill Francis, their Ma will be left with only packie and Gerry(who’s in jail) at the very end(assuming Kates death is canon)Plus, derricks a rat(who also, theoretically, ratted out Gerry as well)

Well by this point of the game you already have a nice 400k so no the 20k does not really change much. And also in gta 4 money doesn't really matter after you got 300k from the three leaf clover mission as most guns wouldn't take that much money.
