the funniest thing about the godblight for me is that Kugath was so fucking scared of it he put on a damn hazmat suit. Yeah it was made out of human skin (he's a demon after all) but still he actually put on a hazmat suit!

I feel like Genestealer infection is an honorable mention because maybe not a "disease" per-se I think it could be quantified instead as a genetic disorder caused by an alien bug man. The main thing that kinda disturbs me about it from like a normal human perspective is sometimes you can be infected with it without even knowing you are. The Genestealer bloodline can get spread so far and so thin that you could be like the great-great grandcousin 60 times removed from the original infectees but still carry the Genestealer infection in you as a brood brother/sister. You could just be going on your life as normal thinking nothing is wrong until either you decide to have a family and your kid is born with extra arms and claws or the hivefleet comes near and awakens you, basically driving you insane. Also fun fact the infection can also be spread through sex with infected people/hybrids which I think would technically quantify it as one of the worst STDs you could get in 40k.

@@fluffywolfo3663 To be fair I feel like Genestealer infection would be something that a lot of minor xenos would also be pretty vulnerable too. Like from what I remember of the lore the Ymgarl Genestealers originated from a cult that overran the native populace so bad they basically bred them out of the existence and just subsumed them into the Genestealer's genetics. The main reason it doesn't bother many "mainline" xenos is because their reproductive cycles are completely fucked to the point Genestealer infection just doesn't work basically. Eldar reproduce like every 100 years and each child is cherished (i.e. heavily monitored so a hybrid would be immediately nae-nae'd), Orks just inherently kill anything un-Orky, Necrons just don't reproduce at all, the Tau heavily monitor the breeding habits of their castes and would 120% catch any hybrid that pops up, and the Kin (Space Dwarves) are literally 3D-printed in giant clone factories.

That depends on a lot of factors, like how long the host can move around and spread infection before it dies (of the disease, or environmental factors like being eaten by a predator that's immune to the disease.) Devil facial cancer is nasty; their species bites each other a lot during mating season, and the tumors grow slowly enough that the animal can interact with others before it becomes unable to eat. It's a big extinction risk for them. The black death wiped out entire villages, but that's in part because antibiotics hadn't been invented yet.

The one from the eisenhorn series always fuck with me a bit, it’s medium to spread was light, amongst a guard regiment holding a polar ice cap, with the sun not setting and a space marine apothecary unknowing being infected and making the situation worse by putting loads of lights up thinking that light was what stopped the infection, only one survivor, had to burn down the last building containing any real survivors including the apothecary with a flamer, which made him lose his limbs, most of his skin and sight and he ends up in a completely black call at a sanatorium for the rest of his life, but is so phobic of light now what he screams at an interviewer for letting light into his cell, even though, he. Can’t. See.

So, can Nurgle just take people's souls against their will with his plagues? Does any other chaos god have the power to do that without you worshipping them or in some way accepting their gifts/embodying their traits? Related note: How is anyone still alive in 40K?????? It should only take, like, one tiny Nurgle cult in a Hive City to summon enough disease to take over the entire thing. Is his sales pitch just terrible? Khorne: "I'll grant you the strength to kill your enemies!" Slaanesh: "I'll grant you wondrous new pleasures!" Tzeentch: "Knowledge and power alike will be yours." Nurgle: "You'll die absolutely horribly but you'll feel okay about it. If you're very lucky."

Yes, Nurgle does destroy souls with his plagues. None of the other gods can really do that unless they themselves do so to a specific person (which is really the ultimate "fuck you" moment). That being said he has to infect you first. The thing is, the Imperial Cult is one of the few things holding the Imperium together. People see the light of the Emperor and believe so hard Chaos only really becomes a solution for the desperate and the deranged.

Imagine being a pox walker in dark tide. You get infected and watch as your humanity falls away and you are left as a damned husk of your former self. Then you have to be like this for who knows how long, maybe even months and years. Then when you are in the middle of a pack of some other unfortunate souls you see in the distance flashes of light and sprays of blood. You hear cries exalting the god emperor and cursing his foes. The relief of finally meeting the emperors mercy after so long. You pray that you will be forgiven for allowing yourself to become such a detestable creature. Your body walks forward into the meat grinder, you had lost control of it long ago, but even if you could control it you would be walking in the same direction. The crowd is thinning now and you know your time is soon. You wish you could smile, then you realize you are, even if it’s in such a grotesque way. There are no more disgusting, oozing husks in front of you as you slowly lumber forward. The you see a zealot glance at you with burning eyes. She hates you. This makes you sad but you can not blame her as you hate yourself. She looks away to cut into more abominations with a giant chainsword. You see a veterans eyes coldly rake over you. He quickly assesses your threat and turns away to fire upon some other foe. A psykers wild eyes pass over you rapidly then she turns her head back to hack into some mutants that came close. Then you see the ogryn. And the ogryn definitely sees you. He has a dumb, childlike grin on his face. You can’t help but remember your son, he was such a brave boy. He fought back when the walkers came. He stopped fighting when he recognized you. You couldn’t move as you saw his small body get overtaken by the rot, tears streaming down his face as he screamed for you to help. You were torn back to the present as you see the ogryn reach into his pocket and pull out a box. He then pulled back his arm and threw it through your disease encrusted skull.

The Scary thing with this one is that while it is only bound to one Species, it is inherently in all of them and you never know when it will begin to change you, if even notice it to begin with. The Twice-Dead-King Series goes very much into detail about its Horrors and the Tragedy that follows in its path.

I suppose its a matter of perspective. If Nurgle's Rot works by actually transforming the person into a plaguebearer. Than the complete rewrite of one's person-hood is terrible. Yet becoming a soul-washed servant of Nurgle is arguably a far kinder fate than almost any other that typically awaits a human soul in the warp. In that perspective the God Blight isn't even that unique. Souls getting annihilated is fairly common and I think most would prefer that to an eternity of literally unimaginablel torture, which is an all too common fate in Warhammer.

Great video. A great grim dark video to imagine how deadly Nurgles forces can be. Quick question and this is mostly focused on Nurgle. What makes Nurgle want you specifically? I have an idea how and why Khorne, Slaanesh and Tzeentch would find interesting and would want other characters/people but what about Nurgle? What would grab his attention, his interest and him wanting you specifically, like that one special person in whatever scenario?

Turning into a plague bearer isn’t apotheosis like turning into a deamon prince. At best, if the subject of the transformation embraces it, it’s pseudo-daemonhood (that’s an actual term from old Warhammer fantasy that’s also been used in the FF rpgs). At worst, if it’s involuntary, it’s simply possession combined with transfiguration.
