Was watching an italian youtube channel that talks about celebrities and... yea, you get millions of €, but at the price of not having a life anymore Everyone tells you what to do, you can't do anything without journalists stalking you, you always have to play your character evn in public and sometimes you are even forced to tolerate whatever abuse that comes at you to not lose your job (Wienstein/Epstein mention)

One of the worst things about WWI besides the actual fighting, the corpses decaying next to you, trench feet, the overwhelming cold the worst part was actually this I'm about to tell you, but it needs some context, so, imagine finally managing to get a little rest from the whole battle and finally "falling asleep" I say that in quotes, because usually soldiers wouldn't just "fall asleep" they'd often stay awake for about 3 days maybe 5 with the help of a lot of stimulants until finally passing out from exaustion, that's were the worst part come in, imagine waking up from being passed out for several hours, not sure were you are or even who you are, only to see rats scratching at your face and trying to eat your eyelids and eyes. Soldiers sometimes wouldn't even feel this because they were passed out beyond exaustion, so some out get rat bites in their ears and eyes, and they'd get infected, usually resulting in a painful death by bacterial infection to the cornea or other parts.

"the hardest job is being a youtuber".... back in the 80's I refused to draw stick figures to get into kindergarten. I had to spend hours drawing them at home after getting whipped with a belt for disobedience. Maybe that is why I really enjoy the simplistic nature of the crappy stick figures with the actual insightful messages behind them. Its strange, there are several channels that I absolutely love that use the same stick figure animation and it really fascinates me. I am an older man with a grey beard and my son seems to think its odd that I watch these channels...but I can see that he likes them too....he just wants to give me crap. I find it a bit more refreshing sometimes to see that animations rather than stock photos of things that often times dont even relate to the topic at hand. Not to pour out too much personal info, but if there is anyone else that can relate, that would be awesome lol.

One thing on the tomb builders. Some evidence suggests it wasnt nessisarialy slaves there are settlements near tombs that the families of some would reside while they worked, and not nessisarialy 'to the bone' but in shifts.

There’s a bit of a misconception regarding whipping boys. This wasn’t really a profession, as much as a designation. The whipping boy would usually be a close friend to the prince and would hold other roles in regard to said prince, so that when the whipping boy preformed his duties, you wouldn’t just be beating a random boy the prince couldn’t give to sh*ts about, but rather it feels more like “your best friend is being punished for your mistakes” kind of ordeal. And it worked surprisingly well in some cases, I think it was Richard the Lionheart who granted several titles to his former whipping boy, after becoming king. Also, the profession of “jam boy” also existed in ancient Egypt, where slaves were covered in honey.

Fun fact: executioners had also the authority to concecrate weddings. There was also a "law" in france, if a person about to be executed was unmarried, he could ask the executioner if any women present at his execution was willing to marry him, if a woman came forth and said yes, the execution order was canceled and the 2 would become man and wife.

@@virus_7986 In the sense it happened so long ago and there are lots of things we don’t know overall but what we have learned has changed. Stone masons were extremely well respected in ancient Egypt.

first one is so friggin wrong The people who built the pyramids weren't slaves or treated like them. They were buried in their own collective tombs nearby and ate hearty amounts of meat; they were artisans and respected as such. Slaves would have never gotten the honor. Plus, the pyramids were built so much further back than people think, more like 8-12 thousand years ago instead of 2-3 - Egypt was a lush, green landscape within that time (water erosion on the sphinx displays cataclysmic flooding and geologic evidence suggests massive tectonic shifts between then and now) it wasn't nearly as arid and unlivable as it is now. Ancient Egyptians had vast aquifers and irrigation for crops and documentation of it ffs. They likely enjoyed balmy temperatures and luxuries of the time when they weren't working. it'd be cool if their modern government would allow archaeologic study in the [rumored] hall of records below the sphinx because it supposedly details their entire civilization.

I read one time that the men who built the tombs/pyramids were actually highly respected in society, were paid well, and would work months-in-months-off kind of like how some military or oil guys work. Which honestly makes sense a little if you think about it; if you were king/queen, who would you want building your literal resting place? Slaves who you're barely keeping alive and want you dead? Or someone who thinks you're a demigod and/or respects tf out of you? 😂😂

Mentioning the Meat industry as a modern reference is a pretty mild example, isn’t it? Especially when talking about gore and not the insane quotas forced upon workers since around 1850 or somewhere around there. Yeah, the food is more horrible than loosing your job if you fail to dismember 120 chickens before lunch. How about more jobs instead of less connection to reality? After all slaughtering an animal is something only very certain western areas are disconnected from at all. For a man with a Cowboy hat he seems pretty disconnected from rural situations and the entropic reality of the term „Nourishment“.
