I would never, ever get a portrait either. Those never turn out right. Every once in awhile one will look good but that's more the exception than thr rule. And these are people the canvas' know. They have to look at their jacked up kid or grandma on their arm forever.

Pony is an AMAZING artist. That rose tattoo that her canvas left on was literally the most beautiful rose I’ve ever seen on skin and it wasn’t even finished. I follow her on Instagram and she literally pumps out AAA level tattoos regularly. Ash m had some of the worst tats I’ve seen and she made it farther then pony, somethings not right lol I think if this show continues, judges should be forced to judge tats blindly so there’s no room for any bias.

If this show is legit then it made zero sense. The first tattoo was sloppy and had oddly shaped facial features, the second was shaded very strange and dark, the third was better than 1&2 except it was colored and shaded inconsistently. The 4th had best lines, most pleasing aesthetic, great coloring and shading. The only negative was it potentially could use more time to saturate it with more color but I liked it as it was. All of that and she had a twitchy client. This is all just my opinion and the criticisms were all based off of being professional artists so I mean sloppy for a person as talented as she is, not sloppy for the average person.

It was the best looking tattoo by far, but on this show they judge a lot based on contrast and how the tattoo is going to look once it heals. The colors were very light so I guess only the outline would be visible after a couple of years, but even considering that she didn't deserve to get eliminated

Yes they did blind judging with a marathon challenge and it was a way better format. They looked at each tattoo individually, the all together to compare them, and the conversation was all about the tattoo, not the artists.

I remember thinking at the time that the only reason they were keeping Ash in was to maintain the pretend-hate/flirt dynamic with Cam. The show was constantly focusing on those two biting at each other like a couple of snarky teens in a YA romance, and I suspect they were hoping to keep audiences hooked with the whole will-they-won't-they thing. Which meant they had to keep both of them in for as long as possible (because even Cam wasn't as great as he thought he was, even if he didn't end up in the bottom as often as Ash did.)

Especially that comment one of the judges made when a contestant said one of the challenge styles wasn't theres and the judge says "you make art right? Be an artist." I would expect an actual tattoo artist to know that there are different styles in art and people specialize in those styles. You wouldn't go to a tattoo artist who specializes in a cartoon artstyle and ask them to give you a realistic tattoo and when they deny you, you say "be an artist." You wouldn't ask someone who specializes in digital art to paint a picture on a canvas and when they deny you, you say "be an artist." That was one of the worst pieces of advice I've ever heard and very ignorant coming from someone who is supposed to be a master tattoo artist.

They need better judges who know what they’re doing. People who don’t choose because of bias, but due to skill. They sent home so many talented artists over the ones that genuinely sucked

It's not even just bias. They will focus on factors in small factors over the overall quality of the tattoo and half the time those factors dont even make sense. Like complaining about the hair on the face/ship tattoo. When the face was clearly based on marble statues which have the exact style of hair she used in her tattoo

The way they handled Elva leaving just shows how far ink master and reality tv competitions have come. One of my favourite ink master moments. Other faves include that dude who outed a trans girl on survivor and just instantly got kicked off, they didn’t even vote and the host was FUMING. Another one is every time on ink master when they do some extra important tattoos (covering hate, working with cancer survivors etc) they completely drop the rivalry and just have a field day trying to improve their canvases’ lives

Elva’s exit is still one of the classiest and most understandable exits on any show. She didn’t leave when she broke, she left so that she didn’t break and she is a very good artist. Nothing but respect. Big Jazz is also just an absolute sweetheart, and an amazing artist. Honestly his respect throughout the industry and the house speaks for himself and I would love to see him return. Also always nice to see Buba Irwin, he is so kind, so sweet, and deeply underrated.

All I got from it was he’s inspired to start which to me means hes not tattooing yet and that means he has no tattooing experience and that also means he doesn’t know the fundamentals of tattooing at all yet gona take him some time to get a grasp of them no1 just starts and gets it off the bat tattooing is way harder than it sounds but I encourage anyone that’s thinking of tattooing specially if your an artist and have the passion for it
