MKBHD dropped his review on the same day Mr. Mobile and others dropped their review. And to top it off, the consensus was basically the same. Why do we blame MKBHD when a product flops or a stock tanks? He might be the big name or his video might be the one with the most views on day 1.

A majority of what companies are trying to pass off as AI right now is something other than AI. It's algorithms. Reading a sensor and making a decision is primarily done in code, and AI is not involved. That's what is confusing people about AI right now. Also, a majority of what is done in AI requires large sets of data, which isn't going to be able to fit into small storage spaces locally. Fixing grammar mistakes, spelling, and the way things are worded (something like Grammarly) is the type of thing that will be able to be run locally, but how is something made this year going to take a picture of something that is created 5 years down the road and know what it is? It will require a connection to the internet.

Artificial consciousness: a hypothetical machine that has subjective conscious experience, sentience, and a mind; Artificial general intelligence: a hypothetical human-level or stronger AI with the ability to apply intelligence to any problem, rather than just one specific problem; but also if you look into the terminology more you get "AGI is also known as strong AI, full AI, human-level AI or general intelligent action. However, some academic sources reserve the term "strong AI" for computer programs that experience sentience or consciousness." what is the difference in calling something Full AI verses True AI in this context they are completely interchangeable. and also id suggest using google before declaring a term doesn't exist, i don't feel like linking all the examples that prove you wrong.

I mean even just conceptually this is not a product I would ever be interested in or make any sense to me at all. Even if AI was perfect and never hallucinated, and the device didn't overheat, this just looks awkward and weird to use... From it having to hang off your clothes and undoubtedly will move, to it having no interfacing with a phone. The whole thing is a conceptual miss.

LLM's can not run on the average modern PC. You should try it. The only way they run well locally is if you have a massive amount of vram to run it directly from. As for OS's with built in localized AI, it's doubtful any time soon since Microsoft is more and more cloud based and making people jump through more and more hoops to be fully local running. Unless the trend to put everything on the cloud and subscription based, reverses, it's unlikely your dream will happen for a long long time. I mean they're even trying to stop AI being run by anyone but the main corporations and trying to somehow block off open source models.

The comment about how Apple could make their watch a version of the AI Pin is honestly a good one. I've said countless number of times, if I could just connect my watch to my car and play my music through it, there would be weeks where I would just leave my phone at home and just have my watch and airpods. It doesn't even have to be CarPlay, I'd take a simple Bluetooth connection!

You can get an Apple Watch or Pixel Watch or Samsung Watch with a data plan for MUCH cheaper than the Humane Pin. A smart watch has more features and a voice assistant that is better. Sure, the goal of Humane Pin is to get you away from looking at a screen, but you can program a button on your smart watch to do the voice assistant for that same thing. I think that right now, a smart watch 4G/5G is and always will be a better option compared to a smart pin.

Branding-wise, putting the word "Humane" anywhere near "AI" just seems to invite trouble. It's like how putting the word "Art" near "AI" already induces rage in some people. Personally, I just refer to it as generated imagery / audio / whatever now. It's clear, doesn't use the word "AI" and seems to come across way better with people I talk to who dislike AI by default.

The problem is, this doesn't fix the problem it is trying to solve, if you want to be not using your phone as much, replacing it with another device to always keep on you and pay monthly for, is just switching to a phone of a different form factor for specific tasks, it only reinforces your attachment to your phone the way a smart watch does

If my phone can pair with Bluetooth headphones and instant translate, search questions on the web I don't need anything for $700 plus a monthly fee on top of that. A lot of stuff these days are released broken and unfinished... Look at gaming studios (COD). Release games yearly and they are broken at launch.

Usually the bigger tech channels all get the devices early and the companies set an embargo date of when they can upload. So that’s why you’ll see them all uploading the same time. Also all these KZbinrs go to the same events and over the years talking to each other and being in a bubble will be on the same page on many issues. It gets frustrating when they review tablets. If you watch an artist KZbinr review an iPad or the regular bunch, you get two different worlds of reviews. MKBHD and his ilk don’t know what the power in an iPad is, and can only think of putting a desktop OS, and thinking film editing is the only pro thing in the world. If you watch Lucid Pixel, Brad Colbow or any other KZbinr that draws and animates, you’ll see plenty of pro ways to use an iPad, that the regular reviewers miss, and instead of engaging with them they complain Final Cut Pro is crap on it. 🤷‍♂️

What comes big companies sees on AI is mostly just money savings. Creative work is on risk in future as companies only thinks money. AI is only as useful on special situations. I think instead of creating a new industry for "AI", we should build on top of the voice assistants we do have. I agree that AI should be on-device before anyone takes it seriously, but I don't think that's our future. These companies are wanting to create one centralized server and charge you a subscription for it. I see bare minimum effort across the board. AI is purely a buzzword for these companies to make more money. Maybe I'm wrong, but if so, why are the current voice assistants basically useless and for so long?

Do you honestly need someone to tell you this humane product is bad? It only would resonate with people who only use their phone with voice commands. This kinda feels like they saw Remarkable market something that technically is nothing impressive, but sold relatively well. Difference being Remarkable could find its niche. They get a ton of hate in the comments about being an over priced tablet that doesn’t do much and an Android tablet can do 100x more for 1/3rd of the price. At the end of the day the one thing it does, it does well. It’s just very expensive for something that just does the one thing.

You must have forgotten, many years ago, when the IPhone first came out show-casing its keyboard-less screen, the blackberry keyboard style smartphone community users criticized Apple to great length, for making such a stupid move on removing the keyboard, and predicted that Apple would go under in two weeks tops.
