“A game that’s not made for everyone isn’t a game that should be made” The paradox of this statement is that if you dumbed down Elden Ring to be for babies, then you’d turn away all the fans that love the challenge, ergo, it’s not for them anymore. There is literally no way to achieve this standard for anything ever, game or otherwise. But Quantum abuses DMCA to silence criticism so fuck whatever he has to say anyway.

All of these people with shit reviews and game devs with terrible takes think games have only 2 possible setups for players. It's the most linear hand holding as possible because we wouldn't want the players to have any ideas of their own or get lost or have to think. Or have it setup so you can just be a total murder hobo with no consequence or boundaries in the game whatsoever. There are only 2 sides and it's the complete extremes. Nuance in game design? Pfft, wow you must be terrible at making games!

Reminds me of this time I saw a complaint about undertale where they were angry you were locked out of the true/best ending if you killed someone. And besides, isn't Elden Ring the most accessible FromSoftware game? The whole Ashes and Summons thing really make the game a cakewalk and it doesn't take too much effort to initially access them. Thank you for trying it out even tho you were initially intimitated!
@TheMrDrProfGamer2 жыл бұрын
@@YasaiTsume having been here since Dark Souls 1, yes. Elden Ring is easily the most accessible FromSoft title. That doesn't mean it's easy, but the game gives you so much right off the bat. Get stuck somewhere? Move on, explore, find a dungeon and get a sick new piece of gear to level and use. The game is only as hard as you make it on yourself. It gives you the tools, you just need to learn how to use them. You're going to die, yes, and it WILL be frustrating, but if you learn from those mistakes you'll begin to die far less frequently. "Git gud" is always seen as condescending, but the real meaning was just to always keep at it and put in the effort. Nobody starts good at Dark Souls, we were all filthy casuls once.

yeah. and hell, even down to the fundamental core, games are objectively exclusive by default a racing game is not made for people that dont like racing games a fighting game is not made for the people that dont like fighting games a sports game is not made for the people that dont like sports games and so on exclusivity is not a bad thing, more often than not its better because spreading your approach thin, leaves your substance almost run dry so not trying to appeal to the most audiences possible means there's more resources poured into the experience. the world has gotten so bothered by making everything about inclusivity and accessibility (which the latter is fine) that they end up harming the quality of the product, and its kinda sad to see tbh

As Iron Pineapple said; "The game is as hard as you make it" Having trouble with a boss? Channel your inner shounen protagonist and train until you get stronger. A certain playstyle not working for you? Try something else. Summons, magic, plenty of ways you can make the game work for you. The fact that Elden Ring is open world means that if there's a boss you're having trouble with, you can just run away and explore somewhere else. " when you die you literally lose everything so you're basically reset which makes levelling up extremely hard" - Tell me you didn't read the tutorial tips about reclaiming your souls without telling me. The best part is that EVERY tutorial note is also available from your inventory too, so you can literally just check them again at any time. It's not like you have to go back to the tutorial area to re-read them. It's insane to me that anyone who seriously tries to call themselves a game reviewer on YT would put out something like that Quantum guy. Something SO incredibly and obviously, factually incorrect, but also with an antagonistic attitude where he tells Elden Ring fans to kill themselves, that they're losers with no life and no family or friends, that the game looks bad, that people who like it are FUCKING ABUSE VICTIMS (honestly the rest of the shit was funny but as someone who was assaulted in multiple ways by a female stalker i had at university, that shit genuinely made me angry) all because that fucking retard couldn't figure out basic shit, and made ZERO attempt to learn about it, ask questions of the fanbase, or spend some time understanding it. Instead he put out an incorrect, offensively antagonistic "review" and then acted surprised that he got shit for it. Nobody cares if you think a game isn't for you or not, but when you put out blatantly false statements and lies in your review, whilst ALSO insulting the people who like it, is it any surprise people aren't like "oh hey now buddy that's not very nice, do you need some help?" but instead react like "Hey fuck you, you lying, idiotic piece of shit. Get good and stop crying".

Silver lining, he's probably not going to be able to keep that up for long with the bridges he's burning. I absolutely agree and a lot of the media works in similar ways by exaggerating things for clicks, it's unfortunately a method that gets attention. In QuantumTV's case though it goes much much deeper than that. It started off being about Elden Ring until he threatened to copyright strike Mischief and some other KZbinr's called him out for it and people discovered some really nasty things he's said which continues to this day. It's a deep rabbit hole.

As someone who's first souls game was Elden Ring... honestly it's a very good opening soulslike in my opinion. If you feel like a challenge, you can take on a boss underleveled and really appreciate their movements with great reward. If you want an easier time, then you can farm runes in another area/go do something else and come back whenever you've leveled up/feel like it. Considering what I've heard about other souls games, because of the open world and free rune farming it's probably the easiest souls game-not even including the many builds, including op ones. Maybe I've just gotten good, or my build is good, but this game has great difficulty scaling for everyone since you can decide when you want to do certain bosses and areas, plus rescale your character whenever after you defeat a certain boss. It sounds like Quantum just didn't want to learn boss movements/level f*cking vigor! PS: Thank you for coming to my ted talk

or do what the average player does: use a wiki. This way you can find out what are the good builds, where the good/important items are, the good tactics to beat each boss and how to realistically do the questlines. I am not entirely sarcastic either, just look at the percentages of the achievements. The secret ending that requires you to do a questline has more completions than the standard ending (6.5% more as of now). This means that among the people that completed the game only once and got only 1 of the endings there are more players that got the secret ending. To get this kind of consistency in Elden Ring's contrived questlines it means that most of the players used a guide in their fist playthrough.

I recently introduced my dad to elden ring. He’s about 57 and isn’t new to video games as he has played all the halos and beat them on legendary, but never played a souls borne game. We created his character and I was letting him learn the game. He went from dying to a wandering noble to bitch slapping godrick. Not because he’s insanely good at the game but because he didn’t give up and tried different options and used the vast amount of mechanics the game provides. Now when I see him dodge roll around an enemy attack or guard counter I think back to when he was just starting the game. The struggle is what makes the game fun for him. He likes challenges and when you overcome a challenge and become even more powerful it’s a great feeling.

I can understand if Quantum just said outright that Elden Ring wasn’t his cup of tea. I can respect that even. The reality is that not every game can possibly appeal to everyone. Some prefer casual and relaxing games that are a walk in the park, while some prefer ones that are specifically designed to challenge their skills. But to shit on a game that a ton of people clearly enjoy, and present your opinion as the only one that matters is just unfair.

They just fight HARD, which makes it less fun to bully them. *He turns hostile when you next meet him automatically, but you respawn behind a pillar placed in his LOS. One hot take I find hilarious is people saying Maliketh is poorly designed. And before you come at me trying to accuse me of using some OP build and +10 mimic, I’ve beaten him on NG+7 with a +15 Godskin stitcher, no summons, default AoW, no buffs and character level 110 without having to heal. He’s not even that hard of a fight, it just seems like the vast majority of people calling him bad are either A: The problem themselves, not Maliketh like they believe or B: Trying to get too aggressive. I also see people saying that he’s unfair to colossal weapons, which kind of makes sense but.. he still has quite a few attacks that colossal can punish, you just can’t punish them with charged heavys (the only attacks colossal users know how to use) so they think the attack is unpunishable. Just hilarious to see people with giant skill issues trying to blame the game’s design.

I felt this. EldenRing is the only game that made me feel alive again after going through some dark times. I feel at home everytime I am in the Lands Between. It gets super frustrating when you hit a certain point that you fight a boss for hours on end only to call it quits at one point to grind some more to boost your fighting chance and still spend another ungodly amount of time for the next attempt. But all those frustration gets washed away once you finally conquer that hurdle. Like shit, I almost lost my sanity fighting the Fire Giant my first playthrough due to the godawful times I had to ran back, buff up just to die multiple times I can't even remember how many. It was exhausting af but I never quit until I broke that mfs leg and eventually slayed the fkin poor bastard, Only to experience same goddamned thing when I finally faced Maliketh. 😂 But I never did quit because through the frustrations and roadblocks I find EldenRing very much enjoyable. That was only the first playthrough which was vanilla hack and slash af and I haven't even tried the plethora of different builds I could make. I didn't even understand most of the movesets, buffs and Talismans the first playthrough but I still found the game enjoyable. EldenRing is game of the year and it fuckin deserved that spot. PS. Elden Ring is my first Soulsborne so it was a batism by fire. 😂 But I finished the hell out of that game and still playing it to this day.

But it's as you said; I learned. I took time to look up guides for absolute beginners, practiced combat on weaker enemies and now I can say I'm fairly okay at the game. But it's BY FAR the best game I've played in a veryyyy long time, maybe ever. One moment that will stay with me forever will easily be wandering the nearby swamp/lake area near the start. Very low level with nothing but my katana +1, starting armour and Torrent. Suddenly a dragon swoops down onto a bonfire and I shit myself. But the way the dragon moved, the visuals of the fire breath, the intesity of the music, omg it was thrilling. And I can proudly say that I took the beast down without dying. I quickly got his moveset figured out, stayed at a distance on horseback and baited out his big firebreath attack, and quickly sprinted to his hind legs and hacked away. Rinse and repeat for 15 minutes and he fell. I then got too cocky and got humbled by some bats lol. If it had an easy mode I wouldn't have explored to grind and level up resulting in missing all the incredible lore and tools for the job. That's the point, it makes you take the game seriously. Study the boss movements, research weaknesses and in doing so the game opens up and you finally get it. Bloodborne still scares me but I know after committing fully it will be my biatch.( one day) 😊 You get out what you put in, its that simple. I love the hidden lore and story, it teaches you to observe EVERYTHING and take on bosses like your life depends on it. All you need to fall in love with Eldenring is time and commitment. If you're default is to lower the difficulty then that says more about you than the games you're playing.

I have a friend like this. They don’t like playing the actual game really cus they just don’t have a video game brain but they love watching someone play because of the setting and everything. They seem to get just as much enjoyment out of watching a boss battle or new area being explored as someone who’s actually playing it themself.

Same here, except it’s kind of flipped for me. My father actually showed me the game. It was then that we both learned how amazing (yet difficult) this game is. Now he watches me struggle trying to get a past the first boss. 😅

I almost spit out my drink when the guy said “it isn’t fun for people new to the franchise” Elden ring was my first souls game and I had the time of my life

@@TheActMan I have no respect for you and I wanted you to know that from me, as directly as possible, to you, you're a pathetic human being, hiding how much of a shill you are behind your fake persona, the only thing your are is a loud mouth punk who talks too much, self affirming jerk, I'd like to see you get a real job because I don't think you could hold it down if wasn't all about you, keep staring in the mirror and smirking with your lousy channel, you haven't worked a day in your life outside of KZbin

I was hoping someone would point it out so thanks for this. He really proved his point on that one :D
