It’s easy to have a go at the bloke just cos he’s talking about the EDL. He’s not a racist, just another victim of the decades of failed government policies that have left whole sections of society completely disenfranchised. I realise there are victims from all communities, but those trying to do a positive thing and build a sense of cohesion in their own community are also victims. Government policy should be ensuring cohesion and community pride amongst everyone living here. Everyone are human beings who need to a sense of belonging and a proper community around them supporting them through hard times. People give up hope without something bigger to belong to.

I live about 15 minutes away from the town centre in a little old village called Kilnhurst, and have grown up around rotherham my whole life. As a kid, my mum used to take us to the market on Wednesdays now and again, and I loved it. I was young, so perhaps it's a case of rose tinted glasses, but it seemed to be such a thriving place at the time. Bookstores, the big library where Tesco's now stands, game shops, butchers, all the stalls at the market. I drive through rotherham regularly, but haven't been to the town centre in years the way I used to in my childhood. Ben who you spoke to is right, so much money has been put into the town centre to try and turn things around. There's the new cinema complex nearby and they're regenerating parts of Parkgate nearby for the park and ride scheme to try and funnel people back onto the high streets. Unfortunately, the town centre has a reputation for gangs and a lot of drug use, and it's never been able to shake that off. That, combined with the unbelievable amount of damage to the town caused by the grooming gangs scandal, results in the same answers you see everywhere - "it's a shithole", "nobody wants to come here" etc. It doesn't matter how much money they pour into it, the stains don't wash out. People hear the word rotherham and they don't think town centre, they don't think rejuvenation projects. They, rightly so, think of the grooming gangs and the people who protected them

I actually intentionally moved to Rotherham! 😂 I live in a detached house overlooking the countryside for an absolute steal compared to other parts of the Country. I feel Parkgate is now the Commercial Town centre of Rotherham especially now it has tram transport links with Sheffield/Meadowhall/Arena. The old town centre is dead and the surrounding attached estates from the centre are rough. But with a new football stadium and ‘The Arc’ cinema complex they are trying to recover the Town again. I completely agree with you as well. The ones who call it a shithole are the ones who make it one. Communities thrive with positive hard working people

But that was for the under 18s also medway for over 18s but it wasn't much help heroin and crack I sold to make money. Ended up smoking it and being homeless but my mum god rest her sole never gave up on me. I did the steps and got away two kids one 18 this year and one 9. I found the love of my life 19 years ago and never looked back.ok I do not have a BMW and my own home but I got it good. Watching this hit home. The council are not the best tbh. But it was and still can be a good place for anyone to live like most places. Watching you at St annes flats were I used to sell hit home. Yes it's down yes there is poverty but it's still home. ..... as a lad I used to love walking round the center when the water works were there in the center. Most of the ppl I no from that 90's eara have either lost the fight to drugs or just had enough. And did it on there own terms. I go out of my way to keep away from it. I'm not 100% yet but I never went back to that. Today I'm great full for a hot meal being warm with my family by my side. Anyone any place can change but the council do not help look at there office's and the bike lane no one uses. But there are ppl in 3rd world countries with nothing so I feel blessed x luke 40 years old Thurcroft. ......

When you see this Mess in the Estates, you know the Housing Officers & management, are not doing their Job, or it is a Political Decision by the Council, not wanting to be seen, acting for the best interests of the Town - And probably live out in the Suburbs.

Used to go my summer hols there to stay with family, loved running around indoor market and feeding the birds in the square. Now it’s dead because of Meadowhall and retails parks. Very sad really. Couldn’t ask for nicer people though, even when refusing my scottishnotes 😂

as you can see ,its deadwood not Eastwood ,there are many people who live there are really good human beings some not so ,the problem is they have voted for the socialist left wing for 50 years and it has never changed their standard of of living . i had hoped that when the conservatives had a mandate to improve their lot starting with brexit ,the Tory's utterly failed them ,the only hope they have is to get labour out and reform in and i just hope reform have enough clout to get our Britain back and areas like this regenerate as a community by real investment not elite funding as happens now

Thats grim. It feels like the Hotel California, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Gives me The Horrors that place.

Happy New Year Billy. I watched your Movie the other night with my fella ( he's your biggest fan) it was brilliantly done. Your videos are our tea time viewing each day. I'd be going nuts at them dirty fookers leaving all that rubbish then wanting cash for comments. These estates seem to have nobody around like ghost towns it's sad really. Keep up the good work 👏

Thankyou for being here showing what is the state of what was a nice town. I'm from Rotherham and lived here all my life, fly tipping is immigration. Just telling the truth. The government has neglected poor people here and working class. Most of the shops are not English. People are scared to tell the truth about Rotherham as the council and police and Government have threaten arrests. I hope people will see this video and understand whats happening on the streets of our country.

Another good Vid Billy, Rotherham was always a great place to grow up everyone knew everyone and wanted to help a neighbour, now a days they just want to rob a neighbour, you went the wrong way at Eastwood though you should have gone away from the centre not towards it 👌 that's where the drugs and stuff are rife

the London establishment controls most of the councils. London is the reason why the country is in decline. London has enjoyed dismantling the north and using it for cheap property for Londoners to snap up the properties that’s out pricing locales out of the area

So sad to see…the nights out i spent in Rotherham as a teenager, the pubs we drank in before a footy match, the shops i worked in …..the soul has gone from a once thriving town…😞
