What little respect I had for that man was lost last week when he pretended to perform a terrible, sinful act on the microphone stand. I understand your frustration with the political system (I too am terribly frustrated by it), but I must take seriously my commitment to God first over my duty as a voter. He commands us to "abstain from every form of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:22). As such, I cannot vote for him in good conscience. We cannot rely on sin or someone else to perform dirty work for us. We as a society must work harder to promote leadership that is uncompromising in this way, even if it means a harder struggle in the meantime. I hold comfort in my heart knowing that God is always in control, even when we His servants do not understand the struggles we must endure. That said, thank you for sharing your thoughts. God Bless.

I understand the conflict, in a very personal way. But the question is this: Should I vote for a cultural Christian who is most certainly NOT a saved Christian who knows Christ as Lord, but is very effective at the job he’s running for, or for a Godless communist pawn of the globalist machine who sees the murder of unborn human beings as righteousness, or to abdicate the responsibility God gave all American citizens - to govern ourselves, and not vote at all. Which choice most pleases our Lord? That is the question. Hint: if you think not voting at all makes you pious and holy, you’re wrong. Being salt and light is a dirty business, but His Grace is sufficient.
@Obsol133729 күн бұрын
@@TheApostleP I understand your perspective, but I just cannot do it. For me, it is not about being pious or holy, it is about following rules and to me the rules are clear. All people are sinners, but it is important to not willingly commit sin in the attempt to honor God. His Grace does not give us the right to do that. Satan is challenging all of us and it feels like much more so these recent years. I do not abdicate my duty to participate in governance, indeed I will vote for down-ballot candidates this election and I will support those initiatives that are faithful to Him. Although the presidency is a very consequential thing to vote for, it is not supreme. It is up to us to support and cultivate leadership that follows His word. It is deeply disturbing that it is so hard to find qualified candidates these days - I think we as a country have lost our way in this regard, both Democrats and Republicans. We should always strive to do what is within our ability, what God calls us to do in His service. It's not like I've never heard the parable of the drowning man. I wish the situation we are in together was as simple as that, but it's not. It is certainly difficult to navigate this world of sin, but that is what God requires of us. If despite our best efforts the world still falls to darkness, then perhaps Revelation is His will, but that is not something to fear.

I think evangelicals get caught up in this self righteous attitude about trying to figure out whether Trump is a real Christian or not, which is completely irrelevant. Would I want trump to be my pastor? Absolutely not, but i also wouldn’t want my pastor to be president either. All throughout the Bible God used unrighteous people to do righteous things for his purpose. Trump is just the better option, you don’t have to agree with his personality.
@Obsol133728 күн бұрын
@@Huero87 I have to admit I am having a hard time sleeping over this. But I will sum it up one more way: It is not about whether I would have Trump as my pastor. It has everything to do with whether he is a respectable leader, and he has on countless occasions shown himself to be a dishonorable man. I think for many Christians including myself, Trump may present a tempting offer to gain control of an untenable situation, a strong solution that comes with some moral compromises. But where else have I seen that before? Christ in the desert? Satan knows well how to tempt us and in my opinion Trump is the embodiment of Satan's temptation. I cannot support him as doing so is in direct contradiction with God's Word.
@drouleau22 күн бұрын
@@Huero87 This. Plus, the choice was simple. When democrats have based their campaign almost entirely on murdering babies under the misnomer of "womens rights" (although it is telling of the party as to how little they value life and women when they've gotten women and some low-testosterone men to actually believe this), the choice is obvious if you are even the slightest bit religious. A vote for democrats is a vote for the evil that has been spreading. Just remember, when someone shouted "Christ is king" and Kamala retorted with "I think you're at the wrong rally", that tells one everything they need to know. This wasn't an election of republican vs. democrat, it was an election of good vs. evil at a key moment in time.

Rob, I'm only 32 years old, but I've tried my very best in those years to continue to educate myself, and not fall for the media misinformation pitfalls. It's become a full time job just to find the truth, but it has paid dividends when it comes to making decisions about government elections, both local and federal. I don't take sides, and I try to remain impartial with my arguments for or against opposition, even though it's become unbelievably difficult to do these days. All I can say is I think you are saying all the right things, and I am proud to know you, buddy.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Rob. I don’t share your opinion that Trump is the guy for the job, but I do agree that we need people in public office who actually serve our country rather than line their pockets. Power is a very strong aphrodisiac, and it can motivate some people to do just about anything to stay in power. There are a lot of things we need to fix here and I pray we get back to a point where the two parties can actually work together - work through their disputes - and get stuff done.

2 brief thoughts I am 30 years old and have always voted since legally able. At first I wasn't sure "why" I voted, but I have eventually arrived at a simple answer: people more courageous than I have fought and died all over the world in service to the rights I am given as an American. The least I can do in return, is exercise my right to vote. As a christian, I start at a worldview that all humans are inherently selfish and morally bankrupt by default. And if we collectively choose to reject Jesus, then of course we should expect to see the world around us fall into chaos, pain and struggle. Presidential candidates are human too. They're often some combination of broken, selfish, corrupt, egotistical, lazy, inept, mean or tyrannical. So, we just have to choose the lesser of two evils most of the time. 🤷🏼♂️

I love my country and the things I have watched happen over the last few years frighten me. I've had to flee my home state because I could no longer afford living there and my family wasn't safe. No matter whether you are Left or Right, we should all push for some changes in how voting can be done. No more drop boxes, and absentee ballots need to be only rarely given out. Ditch electronic voting machines or electronic scanners. Only paper ballots, with each ballot verified and vote recorded by TWO human officials, one from each party. It is so incredibly important that the People have confidence and faith in election results. We have to minimize the opportunities for election fraud. 99.9% of votes need to be done in person with proof of identification.

I wish we could go back to the days when your vote was yours and yours alone. It was considered rude to ask who someone voted for in an election. In other words, you have absolutely no obligation to disclose who you chose for a candidate.
@TheApostlePАй бұрын
@@jtec99 I’m sorry to single you out, but I think we were taught wrongly on that score. Keeping our political positions private, and not having real conversations with each other about who we choose to govern us and why, is actually the opposite of how our republic and our political discourse are SUPPOSED to work. When our culture made open political conversation impolite, was when it all started to slip away. Our system of government, and the responsibility of the people to operate and maintain it, are unsustainable if we can no longer talk with each other, disagree with each other in a civil manner, and reach consensus about how to proceed together as Americans. I’m not sure the origin of the custom about which you speak, but perhaps it started shortly after apathy about our civic responsibilities began to set in - when many Americans started to become embarrassingly illiterate in such discussions. Just ask yourself, does it make sense that a self-governing people in a nation founded on basic human rights, first among which is freedom of speech and later freedom of assembly, that the people would consider it rude to talk about politics and government? At best, that custom was born of a people too lazy to govern themselves. At worst, it was the agenda of those who wanted to rule over us, and who knew if we didn’t talk to each other about self-governance, eventually we wouldn’t really care about doing it. We would all coexist blissfully, with lots of free time to watch Tik Tok and draft our fantasy teams - you know, the really important stuff.

I'm 40 years old and have spent my entire adult life, since I was 17, serving our great nation. I voted early this year, and for the first time in my life I checked a blue box on a ballot, and it was for POTUS. It was a hard decision and it took me a long time staring at that ballot to do so. But I'm certain that my decision to vote that way was the best choice I could make in order to maintain our freedom, our democracy, and our standing as a world leader.
