It's impossible to not tear up from this song. I'm so glad this fanmade song is canon now. In paranoid dj's original lyrics, at 3:29 Stolas said "Come now, my impish plaything, we both made this choice." I'm so glad they changed the line, and a couple others, to reflect Stolas' character development. How he now wants to end their deal, but is scared of losing Blitzø. The heartbreak in his voice is painful.

A detail I find really interesting is that Stolas gains pupils during specific emotional moments. Heartbreak during this song, guilt/sadness when Octavia tells him she went to earth to see their stars. Anger during his and Stella’s fight. Then excitement as a kid when he realizes he’s going to be told his responsibilities growing up.

I HAVE been fearing for while that he'll see it as a rejection--a sort of "oh, you got bored with me and this is your way of just dropping me without having to feel bad", or something like that--because of his whole "everyone always leaves eventually" issues. Look my Way is an even more impactful and painful phrase when you realize Blitzø and Stolas haven’t looked each other in the eye since Ozzie’s. Blitzø tried to avoid eye contact with Stolas following the song “House of Asmodeus,” pulled his hand away from Stolas, and then kept covering his eyes and avoiding his gaze while dropping him off. S1E8 was the fallout after Ozzie’s, at Beelzebub’s. S2E1 was flashbacks. The closest they’ve made eye contact since then, was when Stolas was worried sick about finding Octavia in S2E2, which was obviously an emergency where they didn’t sit down and talk things out. They put their issues on the back burner to find Via. Ep3 was Exes&Oohs dealing with Crimson & Chaz. Ep4, Blitzø had the excuse of bringing Loona to her doctor’s visit, sending Moxxie & Millie to save Stolas from Striker. Stolas was unconscious on the gurney, and Blitzø didn’t even go up to the hospital room to see him. Ep5 was the Summer Camp with Barbie Wire. And Eps6&7 were centered around Fizz, Asmodeus & Mammon. So unless you count their interactions in “Seeing Stars”, they haven’t looked each other eye-to-eye since Ozzie’s. Blitzø hasn’t really looked his way. Edit: Now granted, this song was written and uploaded nearly 3 years, before any part of Season2 was uploaded, so it’s just a coincidence that all these events still work in tandem with the song’s hook. But man, does it work

I think I understand Stolas's development, now that we know his background with Stella. At the beginning, he was running on that high, on that pleasure of finally doing something for himself, something HE wanted and had control over. But the more he paid attention to Blitz...the more he cared, the more he fell in love, the more he felt guilty and realized he was chaining Blitz to him.

The first refrain, Stolas sings, in Eb minor; “Is there something more that I don’t know, that you won’t say till we’ve both grown cold? Just say…please stay, look my way.” But the final time in Bb minor, he sings, “And if there’s something more that I don’t know, I’ll save us both before we grow cold, if you’ll stay… And just say, look my way.” The first refrain suggests an openness to get to the root of what’s holding them both back from taking the next step in the relationship. He questions it, ready to hear what Blitzø has to say. But the final time, it’s not a question, it’s a direct statement. He resigns himself to not even having to hear what Blitzø has to say, like he already knows what the answer is going to be. And statement also becomes an action, “I’ll save us both, before we grow cold.” I’ll give you this out, before we spend the rest of our days in this “will we/won’t we,” so we can both move on. Because-let’s face it, pining for unrequited love, or love that the other person says they can never return for any number of reasons, at some point, you may have to let go, and just make peace knowing whatever could have been, just CAN’T be now… I’m kinda going through that right now tbh. There’s a dear friend in my life I want to get to know more, but every time I try to reach out to him to hang out when his schedule might allow it, he gets busy. Granted one element is that I like guys and he probably doesn’t, so I’m holding out for a chance. I wanna move on, and I want him to be happy, but I don’t wanna date just anyone and carry feelings for him into a relationship with another party. That’s not fair to anyone. It’d be easiest to text him, but I feel that it’s best to convey something like this face to face, an opportunity that I haven’t had, that he won’t let me share with him. I’ll die on this hill; whoever animated the light literally leaving Stolas’ eyes at the end is a bastard and committed a hate crime 😂 It’s so crazy to see Stolas in the beginning of their relationship through fresh eyes, and I’m not talking about their first night together I mean everything after. Stolas was a repressed gay man for thirty-something years, smothering all his desires until he could pretend they didn’t exist. Being berated and emasculated and emotionally/verbally abused for a large portion of it all came flooding out the second Blitzø even appeared to given in. Stolas found himself in bed with Blitzø and it’s the most relaxed and comfortable we ever see him with another person apart from his daughter. He’s a bit of a dick but he comes by it honestly, it’s ignorance lacking any malice. I love this cartoon 😭

It’s an astounding accomplishment for what started out as a fan-made song to be seen and adapted by a series’ creator, and have it adapted into the canon! For reference, an artist who goes by “Paranoid DJ” wrote and produced this song nearly 3 years ago! I say adaptation though, because DJ’s original song, had a few differences with the lyrics that were changed here. In Vivzie’s adaptation, the lyrics in the Pre-Chorus are, Let me hold you, keep you close to me. I long to hear your voice. But dearest, I know better now. I must give you this choice. Whereas DJ’s lyrics changed halfway through before the refrain; “Let me hold you, keep you close to me. I long to hear your voice. Come now, my little impish plaything. We both made our choice.” I can see why Vivzie adapted the lyrics as she did, because the lyrics there get kinda gross. You have to remember, Paranoid DJ wrote this song nearly 2-3 years ago, close to when Stolas’ character was exclusively the flamboyant guy who’d cheated on his wife, and had seemingly subjected his daughter to a toxic home life, just to bang Blitzø. This song was released on October 11th of 2021, 20 days before Ozzie’s dropped, and well before S2E1, “The Circus”, had dropped, so we didn’t know Stolas’ abusive marriage was arranged, or that he’d stuck it out for so long just for Octavia. We only had the narrative of him cheating in mind, and seeming like this sex crazed guy, fetishizing Blitzø and the prospect of sleeping with the lower class while in his position. I can see why the lyrics where Stolas calls Blitzø his plaything, (and says that Blitzø forfeited his choice to leave their toxic, monthly arranged bang-sesh for the Grimoire) were changed. It was when Stolas’ character seemed-at best, desperate to be with Blitzø, and at worst, preying on him because of their class differences. In the canon version though, Stolas’ does acknowledge that at some point he only saw Blitzø as an outlet for his desires, when he sang the final refrain, “I will try to make amends, for making you, means to an end.” I don’t hate Stolas, but we have to acknowledge that for as much as he wanted to be more with Blitzø, he didn’t always do the best job of making that clear. It speaks volumes though that Stolas wants to atone for unintentionally hurting Blitzø, and “to save [us] both before we grow cold,” with the Asmodean Crystal as an out. I respect both versions of the song, both the original and the adapted canon one, because DJ truly captured Stolas’ perceived character at that time in those lyrics. But Bryce’s voice and the altered lyrics do it a lot of justice too. Please though, do listen to the original too. Far too often, smaller artists and their work are overlooked. Happens all too often with fan-made stuff.

Well, Stolas was kinda happy for the first time in his life (outside of Octavia) at the start of the show thanks to his relationship with Blitz, so it's understandable he got a tad bit carried away =P But I'm impressed how much he understands Blitz with the few hints he has. He still misses information, and it'd be nice to see him talk to more characters such as M&M, but hey, step by step!

Watching this after Full Moon has come out makes me wonder something. Be careful of spoilers below . Okay so Stolas has the ability to see the future through the stars as shown by both the scenes with baby Octavia. So I wonder if this was Stolas looking at the future at what might happen when he gives Blitzø the crystal. The string of fate leading to Blitzø who is closed off (like he is in Full Moon when Stolas tries to talk to him) which leads to Stolas pushing away and snapping the string himself (like how he walked away and then teleported Blitzø away at the end). I think this could also explain why Stolas looks so scared and is crying because he saw a glimpse of how terrible things could/will go. That's just a theory though.

unfortunately... i think blitz's thought process will go something like this: stolas gives him the crystal and tells him he's free to go if he wants to blitz realizes this happened as soon as he rejected stolas and put up even a single boundary (I'm not going to have sex with you right now because i'm not in the mood) instead of understanding that this is an attempt to make amends, he's going to see this as stolas not only ending their sexual relationship, but destroying any pretense or reason for them to interact at all. Without the tome and without sex, there is nothing else that blitz believes stolas wants or could EVER want from someone like him. I think he's going to see this as Stolas slamming the door in his face and telling him he never wants to see him again, because he had the audacity to say no to him just ONE time. they're both incapable of communicating properly. they both just assume what the other is thinking and assume that the other understands them without clarifying, and they're BOTH WRONG. their relationship is going to get MUCH worse before it ever gets better.

I think Stolas isn’t as privileged as he seems. He was forced into a marriage with Stella and was abused by her. Stolas hasn’t been happy most of his life. Royalty doesn’t always mean privilege, I think Stolas would rather not be royal so he could be free. Blitz also used Stolas so he isn’t the only one that found the relationship beneficial.

Blitz actually doesn't really know how to write. We see it the whole serie. Even in the very start, the first episode, that's why his advertisment was a speech to text. I think the deal is understandably toxic if you forget that BLITZ WAS LITERALLY JUST GOING TO STEAL THE BOOK FROM STOLAS. The deal within that context makes sense. It would be distasteful if Blitz came to Stolas and asked for it, then Stolas propositioned him....but that isn't what happened. Blitz was going to steal the book, he in fact still DID take the book without explicit permission and only got away with it because Stolas is down bad. Acting like he's a victim of a predatory deal is just a bit too far for me ig. The deal still needs to be cut off for their relationship because Blitz will play the victim and assume the worst of Stolas otherwise.

This is another proof that Blitz accepted the deal for Stolas, he has other accessible ways to go to Earth but he CHOSE Stolas, not the book but Stolas, just like their first night together. In “Circus” Blitz had the book, he didn't need to sleep with Stolas but he did and even enjoyed it very much by staying with him all night. Do you really think Blitz is afraid to tell Stolas off? Blitz who faced Asmodeus and Mammon to defend Moxxie and Fizz and who challenged and won against Queen Bee, all demons far more powerful than Stolas. Is the typical “friends fuckers with benefits who then start having feelings” storyline, it's a trope used a lot in stories with straight couples, I don't see anything toxic or abusive about it. Stolas is not a helpless waif and Blitz is not just an oppressed peasant. They are both “wrong,” and they have both wronged each other in various ways. Blitzo was capable of making choices and decisions that got him in this situation. Both stolas and blitz have hurt each other unintentionally. i DO want to be sensitive to the power dynamics at play & that blitz is bearing the brunt of it, which is why i give him a LOT of grace, but i'm never going to agree he's absolved of ALL responsibility for his actions, in the same way that i don't think what stolas has been through justifies many of his actions. Im all for pointing out Stolas' mistakes (Stop taking your fucking romance advices from porn Stols you sound like a condescending pompous rich bitch) but this one I do find unfair. He's doing the best he can to fix a situation thats volatile and messy. I hate how, in a queer fictional relationship, people seem desperate to designate one partner the “bad” one. I still find it troubling how many people can’t tell the difference between a flawed person who’s trying and an evil person.

@@badkataeuw97 But Stolitz's whole point is precisely that Blitz is NOT FORCED!!! People apparently think a consensual sex work contract is ra*pe. Begging ppl to be normal about sex work. The Full Moon Deal is sex work. Blitz offers sex in exchange of material goods They consent, and Blitz is aware that there are other ways to get the job done (He can recognize an Asmodean Crystal, Says "easiest way" not Only way in Ep5) Sex workers can be victims of abuse by their contractors, but there is absolutely no way to believe Stolas ever manipulated him or breached consent. AT WORST he was a pompous asshole of a client who got too clingy. But he never did anything without Blitz agreeing to it. What pisses me off is that no one would be saying this shit if Stolas wasnt a gay man. "We fuck for convinience but develop feelings" is a trope as old as romance tropes themselves, the ol' story of fuckbuds falling in love. Its only an issue now bc one is a repressed queer man. The narratives text: A man who spend most of his life in borderline isolation going from a neglectful abusive father to an abusive wife having issues understanding how to express romance/affection to someone who has his own plethora of mental issues What ppl understand: Abuser Are there really people who believe that Stolas can aduse someone? That Stolas? I really feel that some people are incapable of subjectively looking at some imaginary scenarios and projecting their own biases rather than what is actually unfolding on the screen.

@@serenapascucci6090 the fact that is started as a blitzø idea don t make it less abusive The ammount of toxic dinamic power in it is pretty huge If we take this situation and traslate it in our world i m pretty sure there is no western country where a case like this would end well for stolas This ofc don t mean that stolas intentions was to abuse or to hurt blitz but is still a pretty fucked up situation And is why stolas understand that he need to let blitz go and give him the cristal Rn blitz have no really choise, just illusion of one

Fun fact uhh, stolas is actually really really into uhh "saxaphone lessons" with blitz couse blitz was really flirty and into that when they met again in s2 e1- so stolas thought that was what blitz liked so he changed his personality to be a bit more flirty but took it too far by accident-

Instead of "I want you to be with me by choice, not because you need to for financial gain, so I'm cutting off our deal but not in a way that fucks you over, and I just hope you'll choose to stay anyway." that Blitz will see it as "I'm done playing with you.
