The first ugly I caught weighed 52 lbs when I got it home which was in the early 80’s and the one you caught was in the 50 lb class. Great release!

That was a BEAST,,,My PB Black is 41 ,, usually late summer I can catch a few off the Piers Here on the Mississippi coast, I heard you say the magic words,,"Tire It Out Before You Get It To The Pier" ,, most Fish lost is from horsing them in when they get To the Pier he still has enough to wrap around the piling and that's that , Braid and concrete don't work well together, it took me a little while to figure it out too but once I Did, most of them I hook I get to take pictures with and release,, good job , Lotsa luck for 23 ,, Keep it Reelin 🐟🐡🦈🎣

first time on this channel, great catch and release that fish was probably 20+ years old! so amazing. one question for some reason your commentary kept cutting out completly which made for a more abstract viewing ( which is totally cool) but was that intentional? so in the car your voice goes out for a long time and then all of the end when you are talking to the camera after you mention your buddy's party no more voice. thanks again for a great video

Nice black drum!! Great tip on using thread to keep the crab on the hook during the cast!! I appreciate the time and care you took to release the fish back in to the water. For those that don't know, this black drum is illegal to keep. Oversized. At this point in it's life, it's considered a breeder. Black drum have a slot size to keep. 14"-30". This fish was way over that. Additionally, they're full of parasitic worms in their meat at this age/size. NOT good to eat! So much fun to catch though! Again, I appreciate the ethical treatment of the fish so that it can live to see another day!

I hooked on to one about that size on that same dock! I was only able to see the tail like you did just after the 11 minute mark on your video. I caught a 71 pounder at Roll Over Pass in 1993. Back in the 80's some guys caught a bunch of black drum off shore and when they cleaned them they were full of ancient gold coins.

Man I hooked a giant black drum off the side of that same pier a while back. It was too large to get in the net and eventually broke off. Great place to catch them on an incoming tide.

If you're fishing anahuac park go all the way down the south side of the inlet and fish the end Or go to the point that's just on the other side of the peir
